Casa Alta is a tall townhouse with tons of character, fantastic views and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Recently renovated, the house has wooden or tiled floors, a fully-fitted kitchen and bathroom (with a bath and powerful new shower), all the things you need to feel at home (microwave, washing machine, flat-screen TV, stereos etc), and a lot of charm to remind you that you're in the heart of a historic Andalucian village. Marbella's miles of beautiful beaches, restaurants and many leisure facilities are just a 10-minute drive away. The surrounding countryside of the Sierra de las Nieves is wonderful for walking, running, cycling, picnicking or exploring by car. This is a great opportunity to stay on the Costa del Sol, with all the beaches, restaurants, shops, cinemas, golf courses, sports facilities and everything else you could want on holiday. But you will also love Casa Alta and Ojen if you are seeking the traditional, friendly atmosphere of a typical 'pueblo blanco'

We are a family who live in London and have always loved spending time in Spain, speaking Spanish and really feeling part of life there. So we bought this house as a place to spend as much time as possible.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Casa Alta in Ojen... The house, which is beautifully kept and tastefully decorated, on one of the many narrow streets of whitewashed houses in the village of Ojen offers views across the rooftops of the village out to the Mediterranean. Ojen itself was charming and has a great setting in between the sea and the mountains. I would definitely recommend it!

The house in Ojen is a splendid base for an Andalusian holiday. The village itself is very picturesque and we spent the early evenings in the square sipping the local beverages and watching the world go by. Sometimes we ate out in one of the m any restaurants in each reach and the late evening was usually spent on the balcony at the front of the house (the rear window had a clear view of the sea) staring out at the hillside vistas and wishing the stay could go on for ever. An excellent break!

I used to live in Marbella, 10 minutes drive away from Ojen, and often used to go to Ojen on warm evenings to feel immediately immersed in a real Andalucian village and gaze across its orange and lemon groves to the sea. You can also walk/drive out of the village into the most amazing, unspoilt countryside that could be in deepest, rural Andalucía - yet you know you're are only a short drive away from the sea.

Activity and Interests


Marbella is a 10-minute drive from Ojen and has miles of golden, sandy beaches. They range from those with sports facilities (paddle-boarding, jet-skiing, kids' entertainment) to near-deserted stretches with the occasional beach bar dotted among the dunes. We will happily recommend the best places to suit what you are looking for - including some beautiful spots for sundowner drinks and beachfront runs.


Malaga is the nearest airport, 60km from Ojen (it takes 35 minutes on the A7/AP7motorway) and is served by numerous budget airlines from the UK and Europe. Alternatively, Gibraltar airport is a 60-minute drive from Ojen, also on the motorway.

There is a bus from Malaga airport to Marbella (and from Marbella to Ojen), but we'd recommend hiring a car. Gold Car in Malaga airport are competitively priced, friendly and efficient. They will also refund you for any fuel you return.


Marbella is 8km from Ojen (10 minutes on the fast A355). La Canada shopping centre, with the nearest, huge supermarket and 200 shops is between Ojen and central Marbella. White towns such as Gaucin or Casares are within an hour's drive and Malaga city is a similar distance. You can also easily do a day trip to Granada, about two hours drive away. Or head to the beautiful Costa de la Luz - Tarifa is about 1hr15 by car and white villages such as Vejer de la Frontera and Conil beyond it.

In Ojen's village square, a short walk from the house, there are a dozen tapas bars, two bakeries, a bank, pharmacy and a few small convenience stores dotted around the back streets. There are also various restaurants in Ojen, including the lovely El Fogon de Flore, beside the swimming pool overlooking the village. For your main food shops, go to La Canada, the shopping centre that's an easy 10-minute drive down the main road from Ojen. Leisure-wise, there is no end of choice in Marbella or further along the coast - gyms, swimming pools, water sports, cinemas, beach bars, restaurants etc. Just ask us if there's anything you'd like to know.

Booking Notes:
We're completely flexible over what day you arrive and leave during the week or weekend and what time, so that you can make the most of finding the cheapest flights. When you book, we ask for 50% of the total amount to reserve the house and then, 28 days before your visit, the remaining 50% plus a 250 Euros refundable security deposit. If you book within 28 days of your trip, we'll need you to pay the full amount all in one go. You can pay the money into either our Spanish or UK bank account.

Changeover Day:
Completely flexible. Just let us know when you expect to arrive so that the housekeeper can meet you with the key and to show you how everything works - and then when you are due to leave, so that she can collect the keys from you.

We will require a 250 Euro security deposit. That amount will be refunded in full, assuming there is no damage to the property or - within reason - its contents. The price quoted assumes that renters leave the house clean and tidy. Otherwise, there will be an additional cleaning cost of 80 Euros, taken from the security deposit.

At Casa Alta, you feel as though you are part of the village - walking to the bakery each morning to get fresh bread and pastries, being greeted by neighbours as you walk down the cobbled streets. You can sit at the café tables in the village square, where drinks rarely cost more than 1 Euro (and tapas about the same) and you can go walking through mountains, past olive and citrus groves and hear cockerels in the morning. But equally, with Marbella nearby, you can be on the beach within 15 minutes or sitting at a beach bar in the dunes or overlooking the waves, and soaking up a very different picture there.

  • Notes on accommodation: Casa Alta is full of original features, including an Arabic arched window, steep tiled steps between each floor, the occasional quirky low ceiling typical of Ojen townhouses and a high, beamed ceiling in the living room. Unusually for such old houses in the heart of the village, the house is full of light and wonderfully cool in the hot summers and very cosy in winter. Outside: There is a small roof terrace with a fridge (ideal for chilling your cava on hot summer days), a small barbecue and a table and chairs (there is enough space for four people to sit around the round table). In summer, the town's beautiful outdoor swimming pool is open, a five-minute drive from the house. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is cleaned before guests' arrival and the master bedroom made up with fresh linen. There is a large supply of fresh towels and linen for other beds, if needed. Other: The spare bedroom on the first floor doubles up as an office, with a desk and office chair. There is also a separate, high ceilinged dining room, up a few stairs from the ground floor kitchen.
