Secluded cottage with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms set in large private grounds. Sleeps 7

Sleeps 6/7 in 3 bedrooms, two with en-suite and further family bathroom. Character property set in 4 acres with sea views, retaining many original features, but equipped for modern living. Penlanfach sits on a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Moylegrove village and has ample off road, private parking. There is a pebble beach at Ceibwr Bay within walking distance and two further large sandy, dog friendly beaches at Newport and Poppit Sands just a short drive away. A real treat. The abundance of land with the property provides wealth of opportunities for everyone. From children running around and playing hide and seek in the woods, to dogs following the scents of the wildlife and adults enjoying a quiet sunbathing session before lighting up the BBQ. There is a variety of seating for the garden which can be moved around to suit you.

This is our second holiday at this property and yet again it was first class. The house has everything you need and the outside space is so varied with fields and woodland. Perfect for adults, children and dogs alike! Julie and David are a lovely couple who make you feel extremely welcome and at home. We will certainly be making a third trip.

Totally enchanting

Absolutely loved the location of this well appointed cottage. The garden totally fulfilled our requirements and more (where else do you have your own field and woodland) completely private and secure for our Westie to enjoy the freedom and we were able to relax in the beautiful gardens knowing she was safe.

The cottage was home from home, with all the things you may need for any eventuality. The owners certainly know how to make visitors welcome with lovely touches in every room.

Penlan-Great 11/10

Sad to say me and my family including 3 grandchildren, have just come home from an absolutely fabulous week in Penlanfach, even Stimpy our dog was completly chilled. The photo's do not do this place justice, when I say it has everything you need I mean it right down to a big whicker chest, crammed with toys, and upstairs in the walk in wardrobe board games a plenty. And outside well what can I say, loads of grounds for the grandchildren to play in including its own little wooded area . The dog enjoyed exploring and sniffing around in the 4 acres too. The biggest draw back of giving Penlanfach a well deserved review is that more of you people will be visiting it, which sadly means I will have to book up even earlier. The Cooke's

Perfect

We have just returned from a week at the property, 4 adults 2 children a toddler and a dog. The house was very clean and really well equiped when we arrived. It's modern but still full of character. The family bathroom has a HUGE bath which was well used by us all. The children were entertained simply running around the grounds including our very own wooded area. We had nights in by the log burner and out by the fire pit. The views of the sea and country from the house and fields are unspoilt.

Our 2 year old was happy digging through the toy box. There's plenty of space for everyone and their wet/muddy coats and boots in the house and even the dog was provided with a washroom and towels of his own. The beds are big and comfortable and two rooms have walk in showes.

We saw woodpeckers and pheasant in the well kept garden.

The owners were very helpful and kindly left us a welcome gift of cakes and fresh duck eggs.

Have to say if it's a beach you want I recommend MWNT every time if you don't mind a few steps.

Very likely we'll be back . Thank you.

Lovely

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful house, with plenty of room. It was very clean, comfortable and tidy... The grounds really are amazing, and the walks round are lovely along with the breathtaking views. The grounds were more then big enough to exercise our 2 big dogs. My only criticism... I wish the patio/garden area was enclosed so the dogs could have a wander round when they liked or to just be let out to relieve themselves in a safe area without having access to the whole grounds. We had to have our 2 on leads all the time as we couldn't let them have free range to the whole grounds unsupervised as this could have been dangerous for them and the wildlife. Other then that though our break was simply perfect.

Location

From the Owner

We had holidayed in Pembrokeshire for many years and always loved the wonderful scenery, the peace and quiet and the space. Penlanfach was a derelict crofters cottage that we have fully renovated to a high standard, and which has been our home for sixteen years. It offers privacy and seclusion yet is within reach of all the amenities and activities you need to have a wonderful "get away from it all" holiday. Although close to the popular market town of Cardigan and only ten minutes from Newport village, a car is essential as there is no local bus service except for a small coastal service that serves the bays and villages along the coast.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Ferry : Fishguard at 12 Miles Nearest Golf : Newport at 4 Miles Nearest Train : Fishguard at 12 Miles Nearest Beach : Ceibwr Bay at 1 Miles

Coast/Beach:

Newport Beach is 5 miles away and offers a wide, sandy beach. There are rock pools and sand dunes. The estuary, offering further sandy shores and shelter on windy days, is situated at the back of the sand dunes. The beach is safe and family friendly. Ideal for children. Dogs are allowed, with one area set aside for a dog free area. Vehicles are also allowed on parts of the beach.

Poppit sands is located about 6 miles away at St. Dogmaels. Very similar to Newport but larger.

Travel:

A car is essential for this property. Most things are a short drive away but too far for walking. The Ireland ferry docks at Fishguard, approximately 20 minutes drive away. London and Manchester airports are both approximately a four hour drive. Cardiff 2 hours and Bristol 3 hours. Intercity trains run from Carmarthen to London and other major cities.

Distances:

Moylegrove village has no amenities. Cardigan town is a 10 minute drive and has every facility, from large supermarkets to independent shops on the High street, as well as cafés, bars and restaurants. Newport village is 10 minutes the other way with excellent shops, from health foods to hardware. Also, a variety of pubs and eateries to suit all needs and budgets.

Further Details:

All daily needs can be accommodated within this 10 minute drive, including banking etc. Within this radius, there are many recreational facilities, including horse riding, canoeing, fishing, an Iron Age fort, the coastal path, a wildlife centre and shire horse farm. There are many more places to visit still within a half hour drive. The coast offers a variety of small towns and villages, each with their own character and offering a variety of amenities. The area is popular with a variety of artists offering everything from pottery to jewellery to art and everything in between. Within an hour, you can be in Tenby, Aberystwyth, Narberth, St. David's, the smallest city in Britain, and Fishguard which is home to the Irish ferry crossing.

Facilities

From the Owner

Penlanfach has space, both in our grounds and within the house, for you to escape the stresses of modern living. Wide open fields, a small wood, a private sunbathing area and cosy garden offer varied options to enjoy the back to nature experience. 360 degree views from our fields over Cardigan Bay and the Preseli Mountains add to the ambience and on a clear night, away from the city lights, the Milky Way dominates the sky from horizon to horizon. With space for kids and dogs to play, it is a wonderful family home.
