Kohinoor's owners, Alison & Peter Roberts, have been married for 40 years and have three children. Although the children left home a good while ago, we all see Trevone as a real "home from home" and return as often as we can.

Brilliant holiday property near brilliant beaches!

We stayed at Kohinoor in Trevone for one week. We chose it for the close proximity to the two beaches but did not really realise just how close it actually was! Just a short walk down the lane and you are at Rocky Beach, which is a lovely beach to walk and explore rock pools and just sit and watch the sea. Along the road for about 1 minute and there you find Sandy Beach, again a brilliant sandy beach a stones throw away. The house itself is fully equipped with everything you could want for a family holiday. It was warm, comfortable and was very generous in size. We particularly liked the utility room as it had a giant wet room which was great for showering after a dip in the sea, and washing machine and tumble dryer, which were a godsend. The large, light airy kitchen was brilliant and again, had everything we needed along with access through pation doors to a lovely, big garden. We were lucky enough to have great weather, even in October to be able to sit out in and enjoy the autumn sunshine. The property is also not far from the local farm shop, which is always stocked up with local produce and they are alway very friendly and helpful. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing, family holiday with all the comforts of home, then Kohinoor is the place to stay!

Great location, great house for families

The house is just around the corner from the beach which is ideal for families lugging lots of things down for a day at the beach! House is well presented and well kitted out for families (but not too pristine so you don't feel too bad about little feet walking in the odd bit of sand!) We love going to Trevone as it has a perfect little beach for all ages, local amenities in the village and right on the coastal path for a walk to Harlyn or Padstow. Would happily recommend Kohinoor House to others.

Fantastic location and spacious property

We had a fabulous stay at Kohinoor, the house had heaps of space and was very well equipped. The wet room downstairs was fantastic for rinsing off the sand after a long day at the beach. The two beaches are literally 2 minutes from the front door and there is a well stocked surf shop and cafe next to the beach, I cannot recommend the house enough.

Warm and welcoming within easy reach of the beach

This house provided a lovely base for a Cornish beach holiday and was also well placed for venturing further afield. You could surf or go sea fishing into the evening and have a quick walk 'home'. Padstow, the Camel Trail and the Coast Path are within easy reach. We also visited Polperro; the mining district around Redruth; and St Ives, Zennor and Cape Cornwall.

The accommodation was warm, spacious and very comfortable, all the amenities you could need. Unlike some cottages you can rent, this house really does accommodate 8 - proper seating in the sitting room and around the dining table. The secluded garden is an added bonus.

lovely family property

this property is well set out with a large open plan kitchen/diner that opens out onto the garden. The garden is a good size with plenty of space to dry out your wetsuits.

The main advantage is the large utlitiy room with a downstairs shower - reallly useful when first coming off the beach - especially for the children.

Good sized living room though we spent most days and evenings on the beach.

A really lovely property, quiet but close to the beach.

Owner's Response: Having a family with three children ourselves we have focused on the things that have made our own holidays successful. That means making outdoor days run smoothly, by having a safe secluded garden, and the ground floor wetroom with double showers. Luckily the 2 beaches are only a couple of minutes away so no packing up of mountains of gear is needed! For rainy days spent indoors we have paid attention to our guests' comfort by providing a good-sized sitting room and a large and airy kitchen/dining room. These features, together with pleasant and comfortable bedrooms, we believe help to make a self-catering holiday really great.

Location

From the Owner

When our children were little we would always go to Trevone, so when the opportunity arose in 1995 we bought Kohinoor, then part of a failed hotel, and fully refurbished it throughout. It continues to provide us with great family holidays, and even now for the grandchildren!

Nearest Airport : Newquay at 7 Miles Nearest Train : Bodmin Parkway at 20 Miles Nearest Beach : Trevone Bay

Coast/Beach:

Trevone has two beaches: sandy for sandcastles, and surfing; rocky for rockpooling, both only two minutes walk. Nearby Padstow Camel Estuary (3 miles) for sailing and windsurfing. The North Cornwall Coastal path runs through Trevone - great walks and spectacular views. Cycle the Camel trail to Wadebridge from Padstow.

Travel:

Newquay airport 12 miles, for that day trip to the Scillies.

Distances:

Padstow 3 miles; Newquay 12 miles.

Saturday Changeover Day for weekly bookings. £100 non-returnable Booking Deposit is required. Settle direct with owning family. Balance invoiced 10 weeks before arrival. It's impossible to get cleaning staff on a Saturday in season, hence the house is offered "self-serviced" where an additional £100 Cleaning Bond is charged, returned in full after departure providing the house has been left "clean & tidy" for the next guest. This system has worked well for 15 years. A full cleaning service at £80 may be possible out of season, please enquire.
