Comfortable self-catering family holiday home by the sea in Trevone, Nr Padstow, Cornwall

Welcome to Kohinoor our family holiday home on Cornwall's North Coast. Trevone is a village beside the sea. It has two beautiful beaches, one sandy and one rocky, so there is plenty of scope for surfing, body-boarding, swimming, rock-pooling, climbing and building sand-castles! There are also walks with magnificent views along the North Cornwall Coastal Path, leading to other beaches and coves. The grasslands support many lovely wild flowers and butterflies, and there are large numbers of interesting birds. You may even be lucky enough to spot a seal or dolphin. There are some little shops in the village. The fishing town of Padstow lies 2-3 miles to the East with its shops, harbour and good eateries including Rick Stein’s famous Seafood Restaurant, Café, Bistro, and Deli. In Padstow you can arrange boat trips and learn to windsurf.

Our house is in a quiet lane, a minute’s walk from the two beaches. It is a Edwardian seaside villa, with an extension to the side for a large kitchen / dining area fully fitted with electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, double fridge, freezer, microwave, one baby & one toddler's high-chair. There is a separate utility room with washing machine & tumble drier, and a large wet-room with twin showers where you can change from your wetsuits after surfing. Also downstairs is a big sitting room with a bay window, widescreen TV, DVD, video, & games cupboard. There is also another separate downstairs loo. Going upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms: the first room has a king size (5’ 6’) double bed with ensuite; the second room has 2 single beds, the third bedroom also has 2 single beds; and the fourth room has a bunk bed suitable for 2 children under 45kg / 7st /100lb (typical 12yr old), plus a fixed cot. A portable folding cot is also available. There is a separate bathroom with a bath / power shower, washbasin and loo.

There is a south-facing garden, wide enough on the side for games, sitting and eating out, (there is some garden furniture), and car parking space at the front for three cars.

Full central heating is available free from September – Easter. Hot water and electricity are provided at no extra charge all year. Duvets, pillows and some extra blankets are provided, but you will need to bring your own bed-linen - duvet covers, pillow cases, baby's cot sheets etc - and towels.

Please consider whether you can accept our booking conditions:

- No pets

- No smoking indoors

- Sleeps max 8 (6 adults + 2 children) + 2 babes 2 yrs or under in cots).

- Self-servicing: you need leave the house clean & tidy ready for the next guest. A cleaning service might be available at extra cost outside high season - please ask.

- No overnight camping.

About Peter Roberts

Kohinoor's owners, Alison & Peter Roberts, have been married for 40 years and have three children. Although the children left home a good while ago, we all see Trevone as a real "home from home" and return as often as we can.

Why Peter Roberts chose North Cornwall

When our children were little we would always go to Trevone, so when the opportunity arose in 1995 we bought Kohinoor, then part of a failed hotel, and fully refurbished it throughout. It continues to provide us with great family holidays, and even now for the grandchildren!

What makes this house unique

So nice to wander down to the beach with a cup of coffee in hand. No more car journeys, no hassle with car parking, no long treks laden down with children's beach gear. Just so easy!

Trevone has two beaches: sandy for sandcastles, and surfing; rocky for rockpooling, both only two minutes walk. Nearby Padstow Camel Estuary (3 miles) for sailing and windsurfing. The North Cornwall Coastal path runs through Trevone - great walks and spectacular views. Cycle the Camel trail to Wadebridge from Padstow.

Travel:

Newquay airport 12 miles, for that day trip to the Scillies.

Distances:

Padstow 3 miles; Newquay 12 miles.

A great place to stay - spacious and Good facilities especially the kitchen/diner and the ground floor shower facilities when back from the beach.

Garden is a useful facility

Parking for 3 cars so it allows family to stay for a few days and go.

Beach cafe has good evening food so you don't have to cook every night but you have to book.

Padstow close but expensive

Trevone beach one of the best unless you are a top surfer

Perfect Location

We have had a lovely few days in this house. The beaches and walks round the headland really are within such a short walk from the house and the bay is gorgeous. We also walked to Padstow one day which was a lovely walk on the coastal path. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed for our weekend break. I would definitely book again.

Perfect Family Holiday Property

Just spent a wonderful family holiday here.

The location is perfect for children with great surfing, bathing and rock-pooling beaches two minutes walk away. So easy for carting the mountain of equipment that we appear to need and also for nipping back to collect the forgotten items. Plus no parking charges!

The property itself is perfectly set up for families. Loads of space, comfortable and easy to keep clean.

Particularly useful is the twin shower wet room in the utility room.Great for showering after after the beach without bringing sand into the house.

Brilliant holiday property near brilliant beaches!

We stayed at Kohinoor in Trevone for one week. We chose it for the close proximity to the two beaches but did not really realise just how close it actually was! Just a short walk down the lane and you are at Rocky Beach, which is a lovely beach to walk and explore rock pools and just sit and watch the sea. Along the road for about 1 minute and there you find Sandy Beach, again a brilliant sandy beach a stones throw away. The house itself is fully equipped with everything you could want for a family holiday. It was warm, comfortable and was very generous in size. We particularly liked the utility room as it had a giant wet room which was great for showering after a dip in the sea, and washing machine and tumble dryer, which were a godsend. The large, light airy kitchen was brilliant and again, had everything we needed along with access through pation doors to a lovely, big garden. We were lucky enough to have great weather, even in October to be able to sit out in and enjoy the autumn sunshine. The property is also not far from the local farm shop, which is always stocked up with local produce and they are alway very friendly and helpful. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing, family holiday with all the comforts of home, then Kohinoor is the place to stay!

Refundable Damage Deposit £100

Saturday Changeover Day for weekly bookings. £100 non-returnable Booking Deposit is required. Balance invoiced 10 weeks before arrival. It's impossible to get cleaning staff on a Saturday in season, hence the house is offered "self-serviced" where an additional £100 Cleaning Bond is charged, returned in full after departure providing the house has been left "clean & tidy" for the next guest. This system has worked well for 15 years. A full cleaning service at £80 may be possible out of season, please enquire.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
