Sleeps 4 + cot. Spacious 2 bedroom/ en suite bathroom, bright and well-equipped barn conversion in a 17th Century 20 acre non-working farm. Large private, sheltered and sunny garden with patio, play house, garden furniture and BBQ area. Convenient private parking. Situated in a small hamlet with long private drive it is a perfect holiday location and is very well placed for exploring North Devon and Exmoor. We have 10 acres of woodland, several streams and lakes, large meadows with wildlife, a children's play area with climbing frame, swings and trampoline and football practice area. We are 10 mins to the nearest beach and Westwood Ho sandy/ surfing beaches are a short drive away. We are 10 mins to the nearest shopping complex with supermarket and famous high street retailers. There are many local attractions within a short driving distance.

We love this part of North Devon for it's dramatic scenery, sandy beaches and relaxed pace of life. Life is really about the outdoors here and, being the least light polluted County in England, even at night the place is extraordinary if you just look up on a clear night.

What makes this barn unique

Being 10 minutes from the beach and only 15 minutes from the nearest town we have it all on our doorstep whilst enjoying the peace and quiet that comes with living in a rural location. There is so much to discover in the area and we delight in finding new coves, beaches and quirky villages and towns. Kerswell Farm is a place packed full of wildlife and we are still discovering new parts of the farm, wildlife and plant life

"Perfect"

We had a fantastic week as Kerswell Farm. Lovely location, beautiful house with a great lawn for the children (aged 11 and 6) to play in. The surrounding areas has masses to do on both sunny and (thankfully one) rainy days! We were very sad to leave, cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely consider returning.

What a wonderful holiday home. We were absolutely delighted with our week at Kerswell Farm. The owners Vivien and Jon made us feel so welcome with an arrival tin of cakes and scones. The rooms were lovely, beds comfortable and the kitchen had every thing you need. The gardens and surrounding land were a delight. The kids loved the choice of toys and games. I absolutely recommend Kerswell farm for a base to explore North Devon.

A lovely and peaceful place to stay

We have just returned from a week in this lovely cottage which is situated in a delightful part of Devon. The owner was very welcoming and showed us round the house, before leaving us to enjoy a delicious homemade cream tea. The property was spotless and well maintained and the garden was lovely. Our two year old granddaughter particularly enjoyed the play area and playhouse. The location is ideal for exploring the North Devon coastline which has a good range of activities to offer. It was so nice to return to such a tranquil spot in the evening after a day out. We would not hesitate to return to The Barn if we are visiting the area again, and would recommend it to our friends. Thank you Vivien, for making our stay so comfortable.

wonderfull week

Just completed a week’s stay at Barn Cottage and can only say what a wonderful place for a peaceful stay in the north Devon countryside. The owners gave a warm welcome and a quick guided tour before we settled down to an absolutely fabulous cream tea provided as part of our welcome pack. The garden and grounds were immaculate, with equipment and toys aplenty. The property is also ideally situated for sightseeing and lovely costal walks round the north Devon and Cornwall areas. Just a shame we had to leave.

Coast/Beach:

Bucks Mills is a 10 minute drive offering rock pools and sandy inlets at low tide. For surfing and plenty of sand Westward Ho! has a 2 mile stretch of golden sand and is 15 minutes drive. The coast line offers an abundance of coves and beaches - too many to list individually - each offering the visitor something different, from stunning rock formations at Hartland to picturesque fishing villages clinging to the cliffs at Clovelly. Lundy Island is 18 miles off the coast with day trips

How to get there

Barnstaple station is 30 minutes drive. Bristol or Exeter Airports are approximately 120 minutes.

Distances:

Atlantic Village has an ASDA and outlet shops and is 10 minutes drive.

Bideford town is 15 minutes drive and has many shops, pubs, restaurants and a large park.

The Tarka Trail can be accessed at Bideford and offers mile upon mile of flat walking or cycling.

The coast at Bucks Mills is 10 minutes drive.

Hartland Peninsula and Clovelly are 20 minutes drive.

From Kerswell Farm discover picturesque fishing villages such as Clovelly or Bucks Mills or enjoy miles of sandy beaches like the Blue Flag Westward Ho! which is ideal for surfing or sand castles. Walkers can delight in the spectacular scenery of the coastal path on the Hartland Peninsula and casual cyclists will love the Tarka Trail that is smooth, relatively flat (following the course of an old railway line) and traffic free for many miles.

There are also a wealth of local attractions on your doorstep including The Big Sheep, The Milky Way, Tapeley Park Gardens, Rosemoor Gardens and Royal North Devon Golf Club – the oldest course in England.

Nearest supermarket is 10 minute drive at Atlantic Village which has cafe's and outlet shops.

  • Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is reverse level with bedrooms on the ground floor and kitchen/diner and lounge on the first. Outside: The Barn cottage has a large private garden mainly laid to lawn with play house and bench. There is a sizable patio with seating and loungers. A further raised patio has a 'seating and eating' area with table, chairs, parasol and BBQ. From the barn there is access to the owners land including a butterfly meadow, wooded glade, orchard, orchid meadow and lake/ponds with stepping stones. Utility Room: Separate barn / double garage for storage with access to 2 adult bikes, buckets and spades, small pool table, lounger cushions, parasol and garden toys. There is also plenty of room to store your surfing equipment, etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Bedlinen. Towels. 4 beach towels. Cleaned weekly.
