A quirky traditional Cornish fisherman's cottage in the pretty coastal village of Flushing a short ferry trip across the river from Falmouth.

The property has an interesting feature of the kitchen being separated by a traditional opeway hence the name Split Cottage.

An enclosed tranquil courtyard accessed via steps from the kitchen houses small bistro set under the fig tree, a large raised pond and a terracotta chiminea

About the Owner

We are lucky enough to be in our fourth year of owning and summer letting Split Cottage. In winter it is our home then in spring we spruce it all up and ship out to let you lovely people have a holiday.

We loved the peaceful village location with instant access to the coast path and beaches. Essential for our favourite dog walk straight from the front door. Also the fact that in just 10 minutes you you can cross the river to Falmouth on the foot ferry. If like us, you are into boats in any way, we are a stones throw from clubs that do gig rowing, kayaking, yachting, dinghy sailing(Sir Ben Ainslie learned to sail just round the corner) and the Tall Ships will be visiting Falmouth this summer too. The village is well placed for exploration and adventures to the best of Cornwall.

From the Owner

Split Cottage is located within 2 minutes slow walk of the shop, both pubs, the Waterside restaurant, the ferry and the panoramic bowling green which has a childrens play park. We kept the cottage fairly original. Maintaining the beamed ceiling and slate floors instil a relaxing atmosphere, thou you will still find it well equipped. We installed a projector in place of a giant Tv which has been quite a hit with children and teens. Also good choice for the people who would rather enjoy the cosiness of the woodburner and conversation without a large blank screen being part of the room. The sheltered courtyard is a good spot to have a morning coffee by the pond and maybe a snack off the fig tree while in season. Due to their favourable aspect all rooms catch a lions share of afternoon sun.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property sleeps five people in two double and one single room. An infant (under 2) may sleep in a cot provided by the customer. All bedrooms are upstairs. Outside: The kitchen leads onto a small courtyard garden with a quarry tiled patio and wildlife pond. There is a bistro set and terracotta chimney. Seasonal fruiting and flowering trees and plants surround the enclosed garden. Utility Room: A separate tea station is located in the hall. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. Cleaning is carried out on each changeover day. Fresh linen provided for each week of letting.
