Driftwood is a charming, comfortable apartment, ideal for beach or walking holidays. All rooms are light and pleasant, ideal for relaxing holiday. It has a secluded garden perfect for outdoor dining, sunbathing or enjoying a quiet read. The village is on the coastal path and has stunning sea views. There is a regular bus service to Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Plymouth and all seaside villages along the way. Visitors can enjoy the local gourmet pub or the Fish restaurant. About Ruth Quilter

Richard and I live in the Midlands, but have always loved the sea and Devon in particular. We have visited South Hams every year and never tire of this part of the world.

Why Ruth Quilter chose South Hams

We have been visiting this beautiful area of Devon since we first met and have enjoyed so many great holidays with our son, family and friends. Over the years we have spent days on the local beaches, ridden on the steam train, enjoyed ferry trips and walks.

We have also eaten our share of pasties, teas and restaurant meals!

So finally we have bought Driftwood, our cosy apartment and are thrilled with it. There is so much to see and do in this area and if you are a water baby you will enjoy the fabulous sea and beaches.

Walkers will love walking the coastal path and the rural walkways with great views.

And on days when the weather isn't so good, you can visit Stately Homes, catch the bus to the local towns such as Totnes, go to the cinema in Dartmouth, Kingsbridge or Plymouth.

What makes this apartment unique

Driftwood is ideally situated, tucked away from the coastal road, but a minute from the bus stop or local shop. We are pleased to have a secluded garden where we can sit and read or eat a meal but if we want to go out there is the local pub which serves food or the local restaurant which has proved very popular with our guests.

The restaurant on the beach, 10 minutes away, is a great place to eat and enjoy sea views or you can catch the bus to Dartmouth or go west along the coastal road where there are many beaches and villages to visit.

This delightful two bedroom apartment met every one of our expectations. The location is ideal for both a beach holiday (a very short walk to the nearest beach, Blackpool Sands) or, for the more active, a walking holiday. With a convenience shop across the road, an excellent pub, the Green Dragon and a reasonably priced restaurant within a hundred yards every need is catered for. Very cosy and comfortable accommodation with an excellent kitchen with all expected appliances. Very comfortable bed too. Overall an outstanding apartment worth a 10/10 rating.

Great apartment, location and holiday

We had such a good holiday in Devon helped by a comfortable, welcoming apartment and good weather. Driftwood provided an excellent base and so easy to get to Dartmouth and other wonderful places nearby. We ate out on some days and enjoyed eating in Driftwood on other evenings where we relaxed so easily. All in all a great holiday and so pleased we stayed in Ruth and Richard's bijou holiday residence. Not our first visit and definitely not the last. Thank you.

Your combination of eating out at some of the local eateries and cooking at Driftwood works really well and we often do the same. One of the restaurants we have visited recently is Rockfish which is down on the seafront at Dartmouth. The fish is so fresh and it is a treat to eat really good fish and chips, so maybe try it ( they do offer vegetarian options as well). The area always has something to offer whatever the weather so we would be delighted if you return, best wishes, Ruth

Loved the apartment. Very clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. In a lovely little village with a nice old pub called the Green Dragon. The surrounding area is beautiful.

Comfortable, cosy, bright apartment in an idyllic village location

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Driftwood. Ruth's communication was excellent, as were the directions to the apartment, and the recommendations of places/pubs to try out. Driftwood is quite a quirky home in quite a quirky area (it didn't help that we arrived after midnight!), but Ruth's directions properly conveyed its whereabouts and where to park the car. It's minutes from the well stocked village shop, and the really lovely pub, The Green Dragon, which did great food as well as nice wine. The pub has wifi (the kids were delighted!), an excellent climbing frame and a great, lawned beer garden.

Driftwood is flooded with light, and it was a pleasure to open the windows and hear the birds and the church bells. It's a short, downhill (fairly steep) walk down to Blackpool Sands, which really is a stunning, shingle beach. My boys played for hours, before we had a pit stop in the Venus cafe. We also drove down one day, parking at the beach. It cost £5 and was only 5-10 minutes drive away.

Driftwood is also a couple of miles from the Park and Ride service at Sainsburys. It cost £5 per car (or £3 after 2pm) to leave your car all day and take the bus to Dartmouth - again, this journey was only a matter of minutes long. From Dartmouth, we took a ferry to Kingswear, then the steam train to Greenhalt, to visit Greenway, Agatha Christie's home now run by the National Trust. It was a fantastic day out.

Returning to Driftwood was a pleasure - it was very clean upon arrival, with an entrance/utility area downstairs, handy for stacking boots, hanging coats and stashing buckets and spades, etc. Upstairs (the stairs are quite steep but Ruth offered a stair gate, and it was fine for us anyway), there's a small open plan kitchen and a small step up to a sunny sitting room. The 2 bedrooms are off the sitting room and are clean and comfortable. My husband cooked a Sunday lunch in the kitchen as well as other meals so the kitchen was perfectly well equipped for easy lunches, etc.

We're planning our next visit already because we enjoyed staying there so much. It's a great little place in great location. Well worth trying out.

excellent property and location for darmouth area

property is hidden away in small village and you immediatley get the feeling this somewhere different from the run of the mill.The flat was exceptionally clean and in first class order and decoration,it felt like a home and well laid out and equipped.nearby pub has good beers and wine selection and we had a few good meals there,without the worry of driving .locals are quite tame to" outsiders". there is such a lot to do in this area that even if the weather is not too good you should not get stuck.Round Robin on dart is always a good full day .We have been to this area for many years and still enjoy its varied offerings from moors to sea.Blackpool sands is just down road and excellent beach and facilities. I would have no hesitation in rcommending this property . .

( Nice to get out of the cars we all rely on so much these days! ) You obviously enjoyed the Round Robin trip of the boat and train up the river Dart and it reminded me to do it again when we next visit.
