Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage in a great setting. Very quiet. The weather was very wet and cold at times, but we still enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable. Lovely private garden and ample parking.

The lodge was ideal for relaxing easter break !

  • 4 of 5

We received nice welcome goodies on arrival, a very lovely personal touch. The lodge was very homely, clean, spacious, well equipped and in a beautiful private location. Ideal for our quiet easter break and I would definitely recommend to stay here for a relaxing getaway. Excellent customer service & some goods left behind were returned a few short days after returning home. We will definitely be back soon !

Had a great few days in the lodge. The premise was absolutely superb, spacious, home from home. Great countryside setting with lots of wildlife to see. The owners provided excellent service, with welcome tray, washing up liquid, t towels etc.

We visited with our son (who unfortunately at the moment is confined to a wheelchair), 5 year old granddaughter and my son's partner. There was loads of space for us all and was very disability friendly.

Could go on and on excelling this place but you run out of characters and energy!

Would recommend to anyone.

Plenty of eateries around. The Cross Paxton excellent value. The Wheatsheaf Swinton, lovely food but a bit pricey.

We left on Friday 30 May, the day before the horrific outcome of the Jim Clark ralley, so on a somber note RIP.

Spittal, Berwick upon Tweed
Car: necessary

We are a short drive from the beautiful beaches of North Northumberland - Spittal, Goswick, Bamburgh and Alnmouth. To the north, there is good surfing at Coldingham Bay which is a twenty minute drive away.

Due to our rural location, a car is essential. We are only 4 miles from the main A1 road but there is no bus service and limited taxis. We are an hour and a quarter from both Edinburgh and Newcastle airports but are only ten minutes from Berwick upon Tweed with its mainline east coast railway station.

The village of Paxton is one mile away and has a good village pub. The ancient walled town of Berwick upon Tweed is four miles away and has supermarkets, banks, restaurants and the usual local shops. Situated centrally between Newcastle and Edinburgh, this is an ideal location to fully explore both sides of the border with access to a stunning region of walks and strolls along a picturesque coast. This is an historic area of castles and magnificent gardens with heritage.
