Yan Tan Tethera is a traditional and stylish property situated in the heart of Ambleside, an attractive village and an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. Elevated above the bustle on the second floor of a Victorian building, the accommodation has charming original features with large spacious rooms and contemporary furnishings providing a peaceful but convenient location. There are delightful views across the roof tops to the surrounding fells and wonderful natural light creates a pleasant and relaxing environment in the apartment. After a hard day walking the fells or hitting the shops the modern roomy bathroom with under-floor heating is the perfect place to unwind. To cook a wonderful meal the well equipped kitchen has everything you need, or try one of the many good places to eat in Ambleside, several offer a take-away or delivery service. The living room and bedrooms are very comfortable and well appointed making Yan Tan Tethera a delightful place to stay. A 3 night stay may be possible Fri-Mon 75% of weekly charge. A 4 night stay Mon-Fri 85% of weekly charge.

Notes on accommodation: Facilities: The property is heated by convection and storage heaters. All fuel and bed linen is included. Wi-fi access is available. Please note this property is not suitable for babies or children under the age of 10yrs. Parking: There is a parking permit available for one vehicle on a nearby car park. There is also on road parking adjacent to the property for dropping off or parking during the day for one hour when displaying a disc (available in TIC). There are no restrictions parking on the road between 6pm and 10am. Yan Tan Tethera is an non smoking apartment. Our apartment has a Visit Britain 4 star award. Outside: Owing to the central location of the apartment it is accessed through the back of commercial properties via an external staircase. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, hand towel and bathmat.Teatowel and oven gloves. Yan Tan Tethera is cleaned after every changeover. The flat is managed by the Tourist Information staff who are on hand should you require any help during your stay.

A great place to stay

A lovely apartment, right in the centre of the town. We stayed there for New Year and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of all the rooms. Lovely decor and furniture, with everything we needed. You need to bring towels with you (this isn't so clear in the details), but this is a minor thing. We will definitely stay there again.

The nearest airport to Ambleside is Manchester Airport , and our nearest train station is Windermere.


The property is situated in the centre of Ambleside which is 1 mile from Waterhead Bay , Lake Windermere. There are many villages nearby which are accesible by car, public transport, and walking.

Further Details:

Ambleside is well served by small convenience shops and independant retailers which include a Post Office, Tourist Information, banks, cinema, hairdressers and beauty salons. Within walking distance are also tennis courts, pitch and putt, cruises on Lake Windermere, Stockghyll Waterfalls and a couple of parks .

Our changeover days are Mondays and Fridays, this enables us to offer short breaks of Friday -Monday and Monday - Friday.
Full weeks can either be Monday - Monday or Friday - Friday.
Please note that short breaks are not available during school holidays
