This house is incredibly romantic and very practical. It has been refurbished to an extremely high specification by an English Interior Decorator. There are two double bedrooms, two shower rooms, a very large salon, gorgeous newly fitted kitchen with all new appliances, utility room, entrance lobby and very pretty garden room ready to enjoy those hot summer evenings! This house is ideally located for exploring the beaches, villages and markets of the Ile de Re by bike. You can hire bikes 2 minutes from the house.

Karon and Mark fell in love with Galathee in July 2013 it was more than a holiday romance because they bought it!

10 months later and much blood, sweat and tears the house is completely renovated and now incredibly beautiful. Karon owns Vintage Events which styles and organise events in the South of England where she lives.

Beautiful House and Destination

Galathee is a beautifully appointed house with every comfort we could have wanted for a very relaxing stay on the Ile de Re (superb coffee machine also!). We particularly enjoyed cycling around the island visiting the beaches, towns and restaurants recommended by the very informative notes provided by the owner. This is a special house and destination which we hope to revisit - many thanks.

What an amazing find

Where do I start? Well firstly the pictures (which are wonderful) simply don't give sufficient weight to what an amazing property this is. The courtyard, the flow of the house, the attention to detail...this is simply a magical holiday home. The location is also pretty awesome...if you want to be in St Martin, have some quiet but be still close to the action this place ticks all of the boxes. When we arrived we were met by Valerie who was charming and took us around the house before then suggesting bike hire shops and places to visit. The owners are a very user friendly couple who have been great too. I honestly didnt want to leave and neither did my family. If you are on the Ile de Re you should stay here. Famille Keene

A Real Find !

My wife and I managed an all too short break at Galathee. The house was perfect and being holiday home owners ourselves we thoroughly understand and appreciate the effort that goes into making Galathee what it is. Absolutely amazing !

I was celebrating my 50th birthday and wanted to find a charming house in a lovely location. I had heard a little bit about Il de Re and found Galathee on this site. I could not have been more happy with the choice. The house was so special - tasteful and quirky decoration oozing French charm. The appliances and bathrooms were of top quality. We absolutely loved the little sunny courtyard with the day bed and covered dining area. St Martin itself was wonderful, like a smaller St Tropez - the harbour was a fantastic place for people watching and we ate in superb restaurants on the owner's recommendation. Karon the owner was a pleasure to deal with and so helpful. Our only regret was not booking for a longer period of time!!

Exceptional house and location

It was a real treat to stay at Galathee - stylish and well equipped and a perfect location near the centre of St Martin. Beautiful courtyard to relax in and always a pleasure to come back to the house after cycling or exploring. Great to have good restaurants a short walk away too.

Galathee

Galathee, nestled in the 18th century village of St Martin, is quite simply the most charming holiday destination. The owners have refurbished the house with superb detail and taste and with the empathy its history and wonderful surroundings command. The harbour is a pleasant stroll away, fluid with cafes and restaurants where one can very easily over indulge before returning to the delightful inner courtyard to snooze the afternoon away. Utterly gorgeous and highly recommended!

A non-refundable booking deposit of 20% is payable within 7 days of the provisional booking being taken. The booking is taken on a provisional basis until the deposit has been paid in full. The booking then becomes confirmed.

Damage deposit of €750 will be required at time of booking. 50% of the payment will be required 8 weeks in advance to secure the booking and balance paid 2 weeks before rental period. Electricity is an additional charge in the winter months October-April.

There is an administration fee of €30.

It has a dining table and chairs, cushions, vintage lighting all for you to enjoy eating outside. Utility Room: The utility room has a new Miele washing machine, iron and ironing board Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is included in the rental price. Towels are not included. We provide a Comfort Pack at extra cost, the details of which will be provided upon booking. Cleaning fee of €140 payable on arrival.
