About the Owner

We are former hoteliers and after 20 years of running our own country house hotel, just 5 miles away, we quickly found that we missed the enjoyment of welcoming guests, helping them make the most of their stay and providing them with great accommodation as a backdrop to a wonderful holiday in our wonderful county. So we decided to welcome guests into our Lodge by the lake in our grounds. We know from experience that a friendly approach, a personal service with attention to detail and a great location are important to our guests. We live in the farmhouse at Polgwedhen, but the house does not overlook the Lodge and the Lodge does not overlook the house. We like to be unobtrusive, but on hand if you need anything, even if it's just a chat! We hope to welcome you to Polgwedhen for a well deserved break, and we hope that you will love Polgwedhen as much as we do.

Amazing, so peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The lodge is perfectly situated near a private lake and wooded area. If you want to get away from it all but be close enough to drive to places such as Truro, Falmouth, St Ives, the Eden Project etc then this is it. The lodge has everything you could possibly need. We met the owners who were lovely, they were on hand if you needed anything but otherwise they leave you alone. The lodge is one of a kind, very clean and comfortable, on its own and not overlooked.

We will definitely be returning.

A little bit of paradise

When we arrived we were amazed at how beautiful the lodge and the surroundings were. The lodge is a perfect getaway for two and it's stunning lakeside position would be hard to beat. The owners are warm and friendly, and we didn't want to leave.

Wow, what a find!

  • 5 of 5

If you want a cosy place that's tucked away, peaceful, restful and surrounded by its own grounds, this is just the place! You feel you're remote but are close to Truro and all the right roads to the coast within about 20 mins. The owners are lovely and the accommodation great. It's got everything you need for a relaxing holiday in Cornwall. We were able to take our dog and she loved it too (keep them on a lead 'cos of the geese, ducks and the owners' animals). Highly recommended.

However, once at Polgwedhen, accessed via a 1/2 mile private road and surrounded by 10 acres of gardens, lakeside and pasture, you are truly away from it all and in a private world of your own.

Outdoor table and chairs and a barbecue are positioned on the verandah for al fresco eating, and there are sun loungers in the gardens for lazy summer days! Parking is by the Lodge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: A set of complimentary linen and towels for each person is provided per stay. Your bed is made up, welcome goodies await you, and the property is thoroughly cleaned ready for your arrival. Other: The Lodge has vaulted ceilings, pine floors and walls throughout and is decorated in restrained pastel shades of rose and cream Co-ordinating cushions, throws, rugs and pictures give a cosy feel, and soft lighting creates an intimate atmosphere.
