About the Owner

We are originally from the UK but currently live in Tanzania. Felix is a wildlife vet and Nicky a freelance documentary film-maker. We have three kids….all boys with lots of energy so Cornwall is the ideal place for them! We try to come back to the UK every summer to see friends and family so Merlins Cottage is our base when we are there.

Lovely house on a picture perfect coastal location

  • 5 of 5

The house was as described and better, really spacious and homely - would be great for 4 couples. Really clean with all equipment you need.

We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory watching the wildlife and enjoying the view in the morning, then putting the log burner on in the lounge in the evening. It's a really quiet location next to the coastal path, great if you enjoy walking! 15 min walk to Tintagel where there are good pubs.

We'd highly recommend the house, and would visit again!

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely family weekend at Merlin's, the cottage was full of character, beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable and very well equipped. An idyllic quiet location, we enjoyed relaxing in the conservatory watching beautiful sea views and amazing sunsets. Equally beautiful views to the sea and surrounding rural countryside from the two upstairs double rooms. Great location for walking with the coastal path right on our doorstep, Tintagel was only a 10 minute walk. Also very good access to North Cornwall, with only a short drive to Boscastle. We have been holidaying in Cornwall for 20 years and Merlin's will always have a special place in our hearts, we look forward to returning in the near future.

Fantastic house and view

  • 5 of 5

We've enjoyed a great week in this lovely house. Immaculately clean, very comfortable and amazing views. A great location if you like walking and loads to see in the area if you want to drive. Comfy house, big garden and great view if you want to stay in. What more could you want? We thoroughly enjoyed and would happily return.

Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have just returned from a long weekend away with 5 friends. Merlin Cottage was absolutely brilliant. The cottage is surprisingly large, and tastefully decorated/furnished, whilst at the same time very cozy (especially sitting around the log burner in the evening enjoying a few glasses of wine!). The location is amazing - very tranquil, situated close to the coastal path, with wonderful views. I really can't speak highly enough of Merlin Cottage and can't wait to go back for another (longer) visit.

Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the cottage with 5 of our friends. The plan was to do lots of walking and cycling, which we did, and we also managed to do a lot of relaxing. I have to say that the cottage is the absolute perfect retreat for getting away from it all and just chilling out! The cottage itself is amazing - beautifully decorated throughout - but still very homely and cozy (especially sitting around the log burner in the evening enjoying a few glasses of wine!). It's set in a very quiet location right next to the coastal path - very tranquil with fab views. An easy, pretty walk into Tintagel or slightly longer walk to Trebarwith bay. I book lots of cottages, hotels and B&Bs and I have to say, this has got to be one of my favourites, I will definitely be returning ...... very soon hopefully.

Perfect family holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a fantastic holiday at Merlin's Cottage. The house was ideal for three generations to share (ages 60 to 18 months) - well-equipped, spacious, brilliant secluded location with loads of safe garden areas for the children. Right next to the coast path and stunning walks. Conservatory gives beautiful sea views and sunsets!

Location

From the Owner

Merlins Cottage is an ideal home for us when we are in the UK. For a family there is always stuff to do nearby from surfing at Trebarwith Strand, sailing in Rock, cycling on Bodmin Moor to strolling along the SW Coast Path. But even on days when none of us feel like moving, relaxing at home while the kids play in the garden is our idea of a perfect summer! Cornwall offers us something so incredibly different from Africa and yet in ways it is also quite similar. In both places our children are permanently active and outdoors…I think the only thing that changes is maybe the clothing!

Tintagel is bursting with life and there are plenty of shops, bars and cafes to choose from.

Facilities

From the Owner

There is nothing quite like waking up and being able to see the sea from your bed! With lovely views across National Trust farmland, you can happily spend the morning sipping tea, watching the sheep grazing while gently planning what fun you are going to get up to in the day. The house, which was fully renovated in 2014, is situated along a very quiet, private farm track so you can very quickly feel wonderfully alone in the world and completely at peace. If someone is feeling energetic they can stroll over the fields to Tintagel to pick up fresh bread or have a coffee whilst others laze around the open plan house, enjoying the views from the sun room and the large garden.
