About Louise Cope

I have moved from South Africa to the lovely county of Dorset with it's beautiful coastline and wonderful walks. I enjoy kayaking, cycling, playing tennis and walking with my dog,I prefer a friendly village life to suburban lifestyle. However, with Wool station nearby and a 2hr30min train journey to Waterloo I can still keep in touch with city life when needed.

Louise Cope purchased this cottage in 2013

Perfect winter break

Patch cottage is small but perfectly formed and ideal for the 'escape' break that my best friend and I try to take each January, when we abandon our families to take some 'us' time. It is snug and warm and has everything a holiday cottage needs. Spotlessly clean and tidy and comfortable beds, very efficient heating and piping hot water. Being a winter stay we couldn't take advantage of the garden but could see what a real added extra it would be in the summer. Louise, the lovely owner, lives next door but you would never know it - a mouse couldn't be quieter. The eggs from her chickens plus the bread and milk were a treat. The village is charming and the shop very useful and friendly. The walking is brilliant and can be done straight from the front door. There are good pubs around and in particular we would recommend The Weld Arms in East Lulworth and The Sailors Return which is only a mile from the village. The food in both was excellent. We don't go in much for days out ( a good walk, a good lunch and a good snooze being the order of the day) but it's clear that there is loads to do for families without driving miles.

The only comment I would make about the cottage is that the stairs, although a short flight, are very steep with narrow treads and the doors are low. Tall, wobbly people might struggle. Overall however I would highly recommend Patch cottage and the area in general.

Lovely property cosy and comfortable.

Myself and 2 dogs had a lovely short break in this spotless, well maintained property close to coast and countryside. The secure garden is particularly good for dogs as are the many walking opportunities nearby. The stairs are steep but perfectly manageable for the fit and able. Would not recommend for anyone with stability issues. Everyone else will love it.

P.S. The T.V. is very small to fit the overall proportions of the property but not really any good for watching rugby. Had to go to the pub. Not sure this could be resolved without spoiling proportions? Louise was very helpful yet unobtrusive.

Greg.

Beautiful Dorset cottage

We had a lovely break, Patch cottage was perfect for our family & our dog. It was a great base to explore Dorset. The village itself is lovely with the post office selling everyday groceries. We walked to the Sailors return pub (about half an hour), which is a lovely pub, they were fully booked though (we did go back for lunch another day) so we recommend booking in advance. We had a lovely meal in the castle too. The cottage has everything you need & the interconnecting rooms upstairs perfect for a family. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, well decorated & homely. The garden is lovely, the dog loved his morning walk out there! Highly recommend the cottage & the surrounding area. We walked lulworth cove - durdle door, visited Swanage. Went to West Bay & walked lots. Perfect break 10/10. Thank you

The perfect long weekend in glorious surroundings

Thank you, Louise, for a wonderful stay at Patch Cottage, which was so cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean, and excellently equipped, right down to the delicious bread and honey you kindly left for us. We loved the friendly village (particularly the excellent village stores), the Sailor's Return pub just a mile away and all the wonderful walks. It was the perfect stay for a special birthday and we'd love to return.

A wonderful Dorset Cob Cottage

Spent a lovely week in Patch Cottage which is a charming place with a lot of character. Louise the owner has spent a lot of thought in the decor and the little extras you don't usually find but really appreciate when you need them. Insect bites for one, didn't expect a first aid kit with TCP. The variety of different tea's and coffee was another. The surrounding area is wonderful to walk and we spent the week doing so and walked 100 miles of coast and inland footpaths. We will most certainly come back.
