Villa in Almadena, Praia da Luz, Algarve. Close To Many Beaches And Golf Courses
Our villa (Casa das Duas Palmerias) is located in the typically Portuguese village of Almadena, just a few minutes walk to local restaurants and other amenities and a short drive to numerous beaches, golf courses and the larger town of Lagos. The villa has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a spacious lounge, dining area and large kitchen. In the garden there is a private swimming pool, eating area and a brick built barbecue. Like most Portuguese houses, with high ceilings, extensive use of marble and blinds on all windows it is designed to remain cool in even the hottest weather. The villa is equipped with a TV with BBC, !TV, Sky and many other channels. Complimentary wifi is available. The nearest beach is at Burgau, about five minutes away by car. However, Luz, Salema and Lagos (all 10-15 minutes away) offer bigger and better beaches. Our favourite beaches are Salema, Zavial (20 minutes) and Beliche (30 minutes).

About the Owner
We have owned this property for over 20 years and it has been the destination of many family holidays over the years. Our children came to regard Portugal as a second home and had many friends there, particularly in Salema where, as teenagers, they enjoyed the bars and restaurants and we, as parents, never had to worry about them out alone in the evening.
We enjoyed the beaches at Salema and slightly further afield at Zavial and on the west coast. We loved the restaurants by the sea but the barbecue and garden enabled us to eat at home as a family and we enjoyed the shopping at local markets for those meals.

Très belle villa spacieuse, propre et très fonctionnelle . Identique comme sur les photos . Le point culminant était la grande terrasse avec la piscine. Agréable séjour dans la ville d'Almadena, a proximité de Burgau, Luz et de Lagos ou l'on y retrouve de bon restaurant, de belle plage, des magasin et surtout un paysage magnifique . La plage la plus proche est très appréciable. Une villa vraiment idéale !!

“We bought this house after 10 years of owning an apartment in Salema. After all those years we had come to love the Western Algarve for the weather, beaches, food, and friendliness of the people. We felt at home there. It was easy to get to Faro airport early in the morning, pick up a car and be in Almadena for a late lunch! (Now that the motorway serves the Algarve it is only an hour from the airport). We also love to walk in spring and the autumn (when the weather is still good but a little cooler) and visit the inland areas such as Monchique and Silves. Almadena is quiet and takes us away from crowds. Even in August we can choose whether to go to a vibrant buzzy place or a quiet destination. Sometimes we go for a long week-end sometimes 4 weeks. We always return refreshed.”
Activity and Interests
Almadena is 3km from the coast. The nearest beach is at Burgau, about five minutes drive away but there are many other great beaches within a short drive. Some of our favourites include Luz (10 minutes), Salema (10 mins), Zavial (20 minutes) and Beliche (30 minutes). There are also lots of lovely beaches around the Lagos area (15 minutes).
We also often travel to the beaches on the west coast, which are good for surfing, particularly those close to Aljezur.
The closest airport is Faro, which is 90 km away, but there is a direct motorway and so the journey time is around an hour. There are a number of companies that offer transfers from the airport and there is a train line that runs from Faro to Lagos (10kms away).
Car hire is recommended as public transport is limited.
The closest large town is Lagos (10 km), which offers a variety of shops, a well known fish market, restaurants bars and night life.
Sagres (20km) and Cabo S. Vincente (the most Western point) is 30km away.
Access to Portimao (30km), Silves - a historical town with castle (40km) and the Monchique mountains (50km) is also very easy via the motorway.
The village has a couple of shops, where all basic food requirements can be bought. There are also several bars, a pub with a weekly quiz night, and a couple of local restaurants. The closest supermarkets are 5km away in Praia da Luz or 6km to the east at Budens.
As the largest town, Lagos offers a wide variety of shops, supermarkets and banks and has a number of museums, a marina offering boat trips and other water sports as well as many restaurants and bars.
All the coastal towns boast a number of restaurants ranging from beach bars to more upmarket eateries. In particular, Praia da Luz and Salema have several great places to eat. There is information about many of the local restaurants at the villa and we are happy to offer recommendations on request.
There are many interesting places to visit during your stay. The historic town of Silves and the lighthouse at Cape St Vincent are both worth a trip as is Sagres and Aljezur. There are also plenty of walks in the surrounding area and the Monchique mountains are only a short drive away.
For those with children, there are a couple of large water parks and ZooMarine, which make for a fun day out.

Prices are in Euros. An initial deposit of £100 is required at time of booking. The remaining balance is payable to our agent 6 weeks in advance of your arrival, by bank transfer. We are unable to accept credit card payments.
There is no preferred changeover day. Check in is 2pm and check out is 10am.

Prices for the property are based on a rental of 1 week, with up to 6 persons sharing.

A deposit of 25% is required on booking with the remainder being paid five weeks before arrival.

“Almadena is a typical Portuguese village making an ideal spot to base your holiday, it's small with a few shops and restaurants for any immediate needs. The garden and pool give you immediate access to enjoyment of the weather. You will need a car to explore the glories of the Algarve coast and the inland areas. Busy Lagos is an attractive destination to shop and eat and is about 15 minutes away by car. It also has lots of attractions suitable for the family, boat trips etc. If you have children, try the water parks such as Slide and Splash, a little further along the coast. There are several attractive golf courses all close by. As the house sleeps 6 people and has three bathrooms we never feel on top of one another; the spacious living areas give us all plenty of space to chill out”

- Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 6 (3 Bedrooms) Notes on bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a double bed and room for a cot. It has an en suite shower room and patio doors leading onto a balcony. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have twin beds with separate balconies. All bedrooms have chest of drawers and bedrooms 1 and 3 have large wardrobes.

- Notes on accommodation: A cot is available if required, please request at time of booking. There is ample parking available, on the street outside the property. Outside: The private swimming pool is 7m x 4m and is not heated. It is surrounded by a paved terrace with sun loungers, sun umbrellas and outside dining table seating up to 8 people. It is a walled garden with a brick built barbecue. There are mature gardens at the front of the property and to the side of the property there is a washing line and a couple of fruit trees. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and bath towels are provided and changed weekly. The maid service is twice-weekly. Beach towels are not provided. Other: The dining room, next to the living room, has a large table and chairs seating up to 8 people. Patio doors lead onto the terrace and pool area at the back of the villa.
