The house is situated on high ground with wonderful views, 8 kms from Riberac, a bustling market town in the Perigord Vert of the Dordogne. This is a barn conversion, nicely restored, with beams, exposed stone walls and natural wood floors and is situated in a little hamlet of converted farm buildings, so it is very safe for children and animals. The location is fantastic. and very peaceful.

GARDENS and POOL
The pool is set away from the house and is fenced. There are loungers by the pool. The garden is mostly grass and slopes to a wooded area with a little path leading down to what we call the glade. In all just over two acres.
Note that the house is attached to what we call "The Little House". This is lived in by our French guardian and his wife and grown up son. They look after the garden and pool but do not have the use of either when guests are staying. They are extremely discrete and most holidaymakers have enjoyed having their friendly faces around and attempting to speak french!!
NOTE: I have not signed up for clients to make payments through Owners Direct since this could incur a charge for you, the holidaymakers.
I fell in love with this house as soon as I walked in the gates. The vendor had not even signed the sale agreement with the agency and was most surprised to hear me say "I love it, I will have it" before I even went inside!!!
No passing traffic - in fact hardly any traffice at all, just the cars belonging to the five or six other houses at the end of a mile long private road. Although there are neighbours, we hardly know ehty are there since the majority of the garden is the other side of the house. We have a 180 degree view which none of the other houses have.
We’ve absolutely loved it here, the house is gorgeous and beautifully renovated. The pool was wonderfully relaxing and we have really enjoyed exploring the local area, markets, food , wine etc This holiday has confirmed our dream of coming to live in France – we aspire to a house just like this one. Thank you very much
Firstly can I say what a lovely house and garden you have. Your barn conversion is one of the better ones we have seen - especially as it has no ridiculous beams to duck under!! It's also nice that it's a family home, with pictures and videos and stuff. We had a very good holiday.
"Chez Barrat had a wonderful homely feel - so much nicer than your typical sterile holiday villa -I felt as though I was a guest in a friend's home. So, thank you again. We'd certainly return and will be recommending Chez Barrat to our friends. The house and pool were great - we thought the house was very charming; quirky, as you warned but so full of character. .Feather pillows too

The house was very well equipped and had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Beautiful throughout and much larger than the photos show.
Set in a very quiet location in beautiful gardens with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. All this made fo one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had.
The pool was great and we spent many days doing nothing but sitting in the sun and playing in the pool.
The nearest town Riberac is very pretty and has a great market on every Friday, the other hing we enjoyed was Lake Jemaye which is about 20min drive from house. It has onderful beach area and great for swimming and has nice cafe.
Overall if you want a relaxing holiday this is the place to come.
The listing description is very accurate regarding the location, layout and facilities. There were no hidden surprises, the cottage was very clean and well maintained. The owner is superb in customer service and very approachable.
If you build up a rapport with the french neighbour, Maurice, you may be fortunate enough to taste his home made piegon stew!! A true french experience.
The pool is fantastic, with the sun on it all day long. The views are amazing.
We would highly recommend this property. Just on the outskirts of Riberac with all the amenites needed to make your holiday perfect. There are lots of places to visit within easy driving distance. We eat at La Brasserie in Aubeterre which is an abolute must. Le Citronnier in Riberace is another restaurant you have to try.
We really enjoyed our stay here, away from it all, but, still within touching distance of all things "modern!".The place was charming and the photographs do not,do the place justice.Reminded us so much of what GB used to be like,in the 70s/80s,in that,it was so laid back and everything was shut after 2pm on a Saturday, till Monday.
We enjoyed the canoeing just down the road in Riberac,we were allowed to go off on our own which i found excellent, certainly, not as regimented as our Health and safety obsessed own country!
The Pool was lovely and we enjoyed the bbq`s we devoured on a nightly basis,on the veranda.
All in all,i would highly recommend a stay here,if you want to just jump off the rat race for a while and relax and unwind. We are still coming to terms with how much we actually miss not being here and all my family have there own special memories of the place.
Absolute peace in a beautiful country setting and the joy of a large and characterful house which can genuinely take 10 people with space to spare! Drinks by the pool in the evening with an "infinity" view into the peaceful valley below was just bliss. And enough grounds outside for children and adults to have separate activities without disturbing each other. The barn was spotless and is well equipped and there is plenty of attention to details like the pretty bedroom cushions.
It's amazing to think that civilization, is just a short drive away. The old town of Riberac and its market and many other typical small towns and villages. Really recommend this house for a very relaxing holiday away from it all.
This is a lovely house, The pool is lovely and the amount of private land to wonder through with a drink in hand is paradise. It is remote but not isolated, comfortable and cosy, but with an elegance that is a surprise in a barn conversion. I hope to visit again. Market is fun in Riberac on a Thursday, and very central for sight seeing and very good food.
