Farmhouse in Cardross, Nr. Helensburgh, Strathclyde, Scotland - Cardross Is A Conservation Village On The Edge Of The Highlands To The North Of The Firth Of Clyde

2 minute walk to sea. There is plenty to explore in the area and a good place to walk is 2 miles away at Ardmore point with unique rock formations, sea cliffs, fishing and is a notable bird watching area. Also worth a visit is Dumbarton Castle and Rock, 5 miles away. Dumbarton Castle has a longer recorded history than any other castle in Britain! Cardross has its own golf course, established 120 years ago, as well as a bowling, tennis and football club. Local attractions include Ardardan Estate Working Farm with a nursery and tea room and nearby Geilston Garden. Looked after by the National Trust for Scotland, Geilston is a delightful garden and is typical of the small country estates on the banks of the Clyde purchased by merchants and industrialists in the 18th and 19th centuries. Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park is very close - it's just 6 miles to Balloch on the south shore of the loch. This beautiful area has so much to offer, both on and off the water.

I was born in Helensburgh have lived in the area for over 30 years. I have 3 children in their 20's one in the USA and two in Scotland. My mother lives in Dunoon. Currently I live and work in London. The area has always been a fantastic playground for me with everything that I need, Glasgow is easy to get to by train or car, the airport is nearby, it's the gateway to the Highlands beside loch Lomond. Cardoss is very much a highland/lowland village and I love going down the beach to skim stones..

Cardross is a conservation village on the edge of the Highlands to the north of the Firth of Clyde, near Helensburgh. The area is rich in history with Cardross being the former home of Robert the Bruce.

There is plenty to explore in the area and a good place to walk is 2 miles away at Ardmore point with unique rock formations, sea cliffs, fishing and is a notable bird watching area. Also worth a visit is Dumbarton Castle and Rock, 5 miles away. Dumbarton Castle has a longer recorded history than any other castle in Britain! Over the centuries the castle has acted as a royal residence and a military stronghold. Set between the twin peaked volcanic plug of Dumbarton Rock the castle is now in the care of Historic Scotland.

Really great place

This place was ideal for our family, four children, two of them with their own families. Also, the train station was very convenient, less than a 10 minute walk. Two grocery stores within 5 mile drive (Waitrose and Morrison's). And well situated for access to the Airport, and the highlands. We had a great time!

Lovely property in a great location.

The property was spacious and functional, all the bathrooms had been renovated to a high standard.

However the beds very not very comfortable and needed replacing. Also the kitchen equipment needed updating. But overall a lovely property in a great location.

Extremely comfortable, clean and cosy

There were twelve of us on this trip, ranging in age from 12 to 80! We found the house big enough with room to spare. Everything we needed was there. Although our holiday was a New Year celebration, we were never cold. We also enjoyed all the various attractions in the area, and the younger ones amongst us enjoyed spending time on the estuary!

With a large conservatory and garden, this would be a super place to stay in the summer months.

Fabulous home

Really enjoyed our long weekend stay at Springvale. The house even lovelier than the pics. It was clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped. Appreciated the excellent showers in the modernised bathrooms that kept a hint of the Victorian past in the modern style. The 2 children loved the garden hunt for the air-raid shelter. Lovely walks nearby and Helensburgh for supermarkets and shops. James was easy to communicate with via email and responded promptly. Would definitely return. Fabulous house

Our family attended a wedding in a nearby hotel and we needed accommodation to cater for some of our party. This house fitted the bill perfectly it was warm roomy and very well equipped. Everything you needed was there and full instructions were left on how to operate all equipment. Certainly a 5 star residence. Hopping to repeat the experience another time !
