About the property

A beautiful Countryside Cottage, 10mins to the sea, in a quiet spot. The perfect place to relax, unwind & spend time with loved ones.

Set in half an acre of fenced garden, with a fenced pond, the property offers far reaching countryside views, The Old Chapel has character and charm, it was beautifully converted in 2002 with a new kitchen installed in 2010. The Chapel is open plan from the kitchen, dining room through to the spacious sitting area. The underfloor heating in the stone floors in the sitting room and dining room provide warmth throughout the open plan downstairs. The gas, wood effect fire is a very attractive features and provides toasty warm Chapel in winter. Whilst in summer, the stone property keeps cool, especially as it has two French windows which open out onto the garden. The sun room/porch offers warmth in the summer and is ideal for coats, wellies and dogs to dry out after a walk ! There is a barbecue and outside table and chairs in summer. Off road parking for at least two cars. The Chapel is wheelchair friendly throughout the downstairs and twin bedroom with en suite bathroom which includes a disabled shower.

We have deliberately not installed WiFi & TV so you can totally unwind but there are lots of games, books, table football, CD player.

Linen and towels are included in the price by our cleaning company who will make up the beds and supply towels, tea towels, oven gloves, bath mats and hand towels in each bathroom (if booked after 13/6/17).

About Sarah Brand

We bought The Old Chapel 12 years ago and have enjoyed the peace and quiet of its surroundings (even with 3 small children !). Nowadays, our two teenage daughters take a day two get used to no Wifi (and their 02 mobile phones not working) and actually talk to us and play games in the evening instead of scuttling off to the beaches nearby are wonderful for sea side walks. However, we never let them go into the bedrooms nor sofa's or chairs and they are confined to the "sunroom" to dry off their paws before being allowed in. their bedrooms on their laptops !

Our 2 Labradors love coming here as the garden is secure and

We are not precious about our house but do like to keep it clean and well kept and we leave games and books for everyone to enjoy.

New in 2017: A gardener twice a month, a gas log effect fire, new fridge/freezer, new carpets in bedrooms and a new cleaner who goes the extra mile by making up beds on arrival (by request),removing rubbish from all the bins etc.

Sarah Brand purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Sarah Brand chose Carmarthenshire

When we bought The Old Chapel in 2004 after it had been recently converted and we fell in love with it as soon as we walked through the white garden gate into the pretty garden. The location is ideal as it is very near to two beaches (7-10mins drive), yet has the peace and quiet of being on a lane in the countryside. There are a huge variety of birds in the garden which are wonderful to watch and often build nests near/on the house! A friend of ours from Wales suggested Carmarthenshire as it was unspoilt and even in the summer, the beaches aren't crowded. Another friend had been to Ferryside by train and thought that it was a hidden treasure. We were so lucky to find such a characterful house. It was slightly a "coals to Newcastle" experience as my husband is a vicar but it wasn't too "churchy", more homely and the garden had never been used as a cemetery, so we were happy.

We have just won an award for 2016 entitled Hidden Gem of Wales.

What makes this cottage unique

The benefits are the un-crowded beaches, countryside walks, easy to reach by car. Lots to see and do but in a peaceful location. We love the dairy farm and enjoy watching the cows walk slowly past after milking in the summer. We have experienced a calf being born in the field opposite (great excitement for the children), the green pasture all around is so relaxing to wake up to in the morning especially with the birds singing and watching the Heron in the pond opposite.

The neighbours are helpful and friendly but always leave us in peace until we pop over for something !

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had an enjoyable week's stay in the chapel - it was nice, clean and spacious. We have three children and despite there being no television or internet access, it was great to be unplugged for a week, and play board games and find other alternative ways of amusement.

We kept ourselves busy during the day, with walks and visiting historic sites.

Many thanks Sarah!

Lovely holiday accommodation with everything we needed.

  • 4 of 5

Super place for a holiday. Rain did not dampen a fab holiday location. Everything we needed was there. The boys enjoyed the extra touches such as the table football and the keyboard.

Perfect peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Chapel it was beautiful and so fully equipped that we had everything we could possibly need during our stay, right down to the telescope through which we watched a calf that had been born during the night take its first steps! We got out and about most days as there is some stunning places to visit nearby such as Penberry with its stunning beach. We would highly recommend the Chapel to anyone and will definitely be back next year.

Peaceful, rural, great for nature lovers

  • 4 of 5

The Old Chapel is set in idyllic surroundings with countryside views next to a dairy farm. The kids loved watching the cows dutifully trotting down the lane each morning and evening. Garden was perfect for our younger dog as it is completely fenced off with additional chicken wire so no chance of escape. It's a nature lovers delight with house martin's, sparrows etc nesting on the house and swallows dipping into the small pond in the neighbouring field. The house itself has loads of space with lots of games, books and table football to keep the family amused. We didn't miss the TV at all as there is also a radio and keyboard for entertainment. Pembrey Country Park nearby beach is amazing and allows dogs at one end even in the summer. Owner kept in touch on arrival day to make sure everything was OK. Overall a lovely long weekend stay.
