The Jolly Boat is a delightful apartment for two people. It is one of seven apartments in Seapoint, a Victorian building perched high above the sea on the edge of Port Isaac. It is modern, sunny, light and airy and makes a lovely retreat for two people all year round. It is well placed, being within easy walking distance of Port Isaac village and harbour, beautiful Port Gaverne cove and pub and the coffee shops, gift shop and restaurants at the top of the village. There is free private parking directly outside - a real bonus in Port Isaac where parking can be almost impossible, especially in high season.

The apartment itself overlooks the communal garden at the back - this is an outside space that guests can use to sit in; the garden has views of the sea and there is a drying area there for washing, wetsuits etc.

As soon as you step out of the Seapoint building you are facing the sea, with dramatic views across to Port Gaverne. You can take the chairs and small tables from the communal area at the front of Seapoint and place them on the area directly overlooking the sea to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine.

About Karen and Jeff Lewis

We live in Cardiff and have two grown up sons. We started coming to Port Isaac 15 years ago and visited a few times every year, growing to love it more and more each time. We always dreamed of owning our own place in this beautiful spot and that dream came true when we bought the Jolly Boat, our much loved second home. We spend as much time as we can in this lovely little apartment and are very happy to share it with others when we can't be there ourselves.

Why Karen and Jeff Lewis chose North Cornwall

We fell in love with the Jolly Boat because it was just what we were looking for as our little retreat. It is in a wonderful position - very close to both Port Isaac and Port Gaverne, but far enough out of the village to be quiet even in the height of summer. We had been looking for 'our place' for some time and we knew that we wanted privacy and - most important and difficult to come by in Port Isaac - private free parking directly outside. The apartment is perfect for two people - comfortable, light, and well equipped. Most of all we love to sit outside the front on a summer's evening and watch the sea. Perfect!

Special interest holidays:

The area is wonderful for walking, surfing, swimming and watersports. There are plenty of cultural activities on offer throughout north Cornwall and of course the Eden project is within easy driving distance. We are very close to the Camel Trail for cycling and there are several bike hire places in Wadebridge and Padstow.

Coast/Beach:

The beach at Port Gaverne is less than a ten minute walk, and Port Isaac harbour about the same. As soon as you step out of the front door of Seapoint you face the magnificent Atlantic ocean - beautiful at any time of the year. The coastal path is easily accessible within a ten minute walk.

Travel:

Car recommended.

Distances:

Port Isaac is a great base for a holiday in North Cornwall. Padstow, Rock, Polzeath (great surfing beach), Tintagel and Boscastle are all within very easy driving distances.

Further Details:

You will be very well placed to explore the locations of the successful TV series 'Doc Martin' in Port Isaac and Port Gaverne.

There is an excellent range of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance, including Nathan Outlaw's 1 Michelin star Fish Kitchen and his 2 Michelin star signature restaurant: Nathan Outlaw (recently moved to Port Isaac from nearby Rock). There are also two good pubs with food and numerous coffee places within easy walking distance. There is a well stocked Co-op supermarket within five minutes walk of the Jolly Boat and an excellent fish market in Port Isaac Harbour. You can often see the fisherman unloading their catch.

A wider range of shops including excellent butchers, bakers, greengrocers, gift shops etc. can be found in both Rock and Wadebridge - about a 15 minute drive.

Notes on accommodation: Please note, we do occasionally accept small dogs with prior discussion and agreement. Outside: There is a large communal garden at the back of Seapoint, with sea views. There are drying facilities here for clothing and wetsuits. There is a communal courtyard for storage of bicycles, surf boards etc. There is also a communal area at the front, directly overlooking the sea and the headland towards Port Gaverne. Guests may take a table and chairs out, to sit and enjoy the lovely view. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is provided, beds are made up prior to arrival and there is an end of stay clean included. Guests are asked to bring their own towels. Other: There is an internal communal area at the front of Seapoint, with table and chairs available for guests to take outside if they wish. The views from here are of the dramatic north Cornwall coast. You can look across to the unspoilt cove of Port Gaverne.

Beuatiful flat by the sea

We had a wonderful time. The flat has a nice touch to it and is beautifully decorated. We stayed here with our two year old boy and the apartment had all we needed. The apartment is just a short walk to the centre of the village. At the bottom of the road of the apartment is Nathan Outlaw's Michelin star restaurant. There is a supermarket close by. When stepping outside of the apartment you have beautiful view over the coastline and bay in front of the house. Karen and Jeff were extremely helpful and there were also many helpful visitor information for visiting this part of Cornwall in a folder in the flat. Overall, we loved it and we'll come again.

A comfortable flat in a great location

I had a very pleasant week in the Jolly Boat which is in a great location. The outside of the building is a little tired and I was not tempted to sit in the communal porch despite lovely views but to take chairs out and sit overlooking Port Gaverne was fantastic. The flat itself had everything I needed and the kitchen though small was well equipped. To be so close to both Port Isaac and Port Gaverne was a real bonus as was the parking although until I realised you could remove the poles I had a few challenging moments getting into the space!

Perfect hidden gem

There is so much to say about the Jolly Boat that its difficult to know where to begin. An absolutely delightful hidden gem. Including parking, which is an absolute must in Port Issac. It has everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, a real home from home and decorated with art from local artists, which really is a lovely touch; Karen and Jeff have certainly thought of everything. The view from the front entrance is simply breathtaking. This was our fist visit to Port Issac, even though we visit Cornwall every year we are completely in love and will most definitely be back. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and we enjoyed some of the nicest food to be had anywhere. The walks along the coastline were spectacular.

Just perfect!

We have sadly just returned from a 5 night stay in the jolly boat and we're missing it already!!

We decided to have a honeymoon in port isaac and treat ourselves to a fancy dinner at Nathan outlaws restaurant, which very conveniently, is less than a 2 minute walk from the jolly boat!

The flat is a 5 minute walk from the centre of town which is stunning and has some lovely restaurants and pubs on offer. We also did some serious walking, being so close to the costal path.

The flat itself is beautiful!! A perfect seaside retreat. It's out of town so it's lovely and peaceful. It also comes with its own parking space which you soon come to realise is a real bonus in port isaac! The flat is very thoughtfully equipped with everything you may need and furnished/decorated to a very high standard. We were there for the last week of October and we found it very cosy :)

The owners, karen and Jeff, have thoughtfully left an information booklet in the flat with all sorts of useful local information. They also left contact details should we have needed anything during our stay, which we didn't need but it was reassuring to know it was there if needed.

All I can say is thank you so much, I am determined to return on a yearly basis :-)

Superb apartment.

The Jolly Boat is a lovely clean, well maintained and bright apartment which was well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location was great for seeing Port Isaac and surrounding areas. Had a very enjoyable week here and Karen, the owner, was very helpful, her customer service was excellent. I would definitely hope to stay here again in in the future.
