Overview

About the property

4 Bed, 4 Bath, Barn on the edge of Aldborough, in North Norfolk

Chestnut Barn is a recently converted barn situated within 5 miles of the coast and close to the National Trust properties of Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park. Bewilderwood and the Dinosaur Park are within 15 miles, as are The Norfolk Broads, and Norwich is 18 miles away. The barn is very spacious with an air source heat pump underfloor heating system throughout the ground floor, and offers excellent accommodation for families or groups of friends who will be welcomed with a cake, tea, coffee and milk. Aldborough village has a shop/ Post Office within walking distance. There are many good pubs/restaurants in the area. Waitrose and Sainsbury at North Walsham, and Tesco in Aylsham, all deliver, and there is a Morrisons in Cromer. We have 3 large bedrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs), a mezzanine with 4 single beds, 3 shower rooms and 1 bathroom. The mezzanine also has a TV and beanbags for relaxing. There is another TV in the living/dining/kitchen area. There is a large enclosed garden and table tennis and table football in the garage. To the west is a patio area with seating for 10 people, and on the other side there is parking for several cars.

About Kate Hammond

My name is Penny Hammond and Chestnut Barn belongs to our family farm. Together with my daughter-in-law Kate I am looking forward to welcoming guests to our recently converted barn which previously housed Grandpa's snooker table and Granny's old car and gardening tools!

Kate Hammond purchased this barn in 1949

Why Kate Hammond chose Norfolk & The Broads

It has been an exciting project to turn a redundant farm building into what we think is an attractive holiday home.

What makes this barn unique

We are lucky enough to live in a lovely part of North Norfolk where there are plenty of market towns providing good shopping but we also have all the advantages a rural location offers. It's a good place to stay.

Fantastic cottage

We had an absolutely lovely time. The cottage is stunning. It was really big. We had 6 adults and two children and we all had plenty of room.

Beautifully rennovated, spacious, well resourced, tranquil and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a weekend away at Chestnut Barn to celebrate my in-laws Golden Wedding Anniversary. This place is a real find. It is away from it all in such peaceful surroundings that help you to unwind and relax. Despite three families going, we never once felt like we were on top of each other thanks to the sheer size of the barn. Each bedroom having an ensuite helped too. The children loved having their own space up in the mezzanine level. The barn is beautifully decorated and furnished and is well equiped with everything you could possibly need. The seating area was great for sitting out with a slice of cake and cup of tea or for losing yourself in a good book! The table tennis was great entertainment for all generations of our family. The owners are so friendly, greeting us on arrival and even bringing us freshly baked shortbread which was a lovely touch. I cannot recommend this place enough and should the occasion arrive would love to visit again one day. This place is a gem!

Perfect family location and a beautiful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Organising an event for the whole family can be quite a challenge... As it goes the accommodation was not one of the things I had to worry about as the barn is perfect for groups and in such a beautiful location! Everything is spaced out enough to enjoy the family time together... but have a time out when needed! Kate was so happy to help when I had questions and even recommended the restaurant we booked for the birthday celebrations. The little thoughts and details the owners put in go such a long way and the whole family have taken their contact details to book again in the future... I can't recommend enough and can't wait to visit again!

Chestnut Barn - lovely even in middle of winter

  • 4 of 5

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Chestnut Barn which is lovely property and enabled me to celebrate my birthday with my family. The barn was well furnished, bedroom plenty big enough. Very peaceful setting. I should imagine it would be even nicer in summer as there is lots of outside space. I understand the shortbread that was left as a welcome was delicious but unfortunately my sons got there before me and ate the lot.
