About the property

4 Bed, 4 Bath, Barn on the edge of Aldborough, in North Norfolk

Chestnut Barn is a recently converted barn situated within 5 miles of the coast and close to the National Trust properties of Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park. Bewilderwood and the Dinosaur Park are within 15 miles, as are The Norfolk Broads, and Norwich is 18 miles away. The barn is very spacious with an air source heat pump underfloor heating system throughout the ground floor, and offers excellent accommodation for families or groups of friends who will be welcomed with a cake, tea, coffee and milk. Aldborough village has a shop/ Post Office within walking distance. There are many good pubs/restaurants in the area. Waitrose and Sainsbury at North Walsham, and Tesco in Aylsham, all deliver, and there is a Morrisons in Cromer. We have 3 large bedrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs), a mezzanine with 4 single beds, 3 shower rooms and 1 bathroom. The mezzanine also has a TV and beanbags for relaxing. There is another TV in the living/dining/kitchen area. There is a large enclosed garden and table tennis and table football in the garage. To the west is a patio area with seating for 10 people, and on the other side there is parking for several cars.

About Kate Hammond

My name is Penny Hammond and Chestnut Barn belongs to our family farm. Together with my daughter-in-law Kate I am looking forward to welcoming guests to our recently converted barn which previously housed Grandpa's snooker table and Granny's old car and gardening tools!

Kate Hammond purchased this barn in 1949

Why Kate Hammond chose Norwich

It has been an exciting project to turn a redundant farm building into what we think is an attractive holiday home.

What makes this barn unique

We are lucky enough to live in a lovely part of North Norfolk where there are plenty of market towns providing good shopping but we also have all the advantages a rural location offers. It's a good place to stay.

Fantastic Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time the family have stayed at Chestnut Barn. We are three generations and all enjoyed the comfort and spaciousness of the accommodation. Plenty to do in and around the area. The children loved Bewilderwood even though it's the third time they've been there. We also had a lovely day on the Norfolk Broads and all had a go at 'driving' the boat, would really recommend this. All in all apart from one day when the weather was bad (we still enjoyed playing board games at the barn) we had a great time.

Fantastic accommodation. Fantastic area. Fantastic Holiday.

Exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

Hired this barn out for a friends hen weekend. It was beautiful. It was spacious, open and met everybody’s needs.

The rooms were huge and each double room had its own ensuite.

There was enough storage to meet our food storage requirements and for everyone’s belongings.

The garden space outside was perfect for sitting ad playing games outside when the sun was out.

Kate was brilliant, yummy shortcake and truffles on arrival and also popped in to answer any questions we had once we had settled in. Which was ideal.

Perfect location for a weekend get away with a group of friends or family.

Although only down the road for a lot of us, the backdrop felt like we’d visited a completely different area of the country. Was very picturesque and would definitely choose Aldborough barn again.

Thank you.

Perfect surprise birthday trip!

  • 5 of 5

Had been looking for a place locally for me to surprise my wife for her 30th Birthday which involved family and friends turning up at different times and days. Most owners were not keen and made a few excuses and also bumped up the prices for this. Where as Kate was the complete opposite!

Really accommodating and happy for the whole birthday plan/surprise to go ahead. Even gave me time to pop by to view the amazing property so can get ideas for the occasion.

The barn is lovely and despite being on their land, still feels very private.

Despite the weather (February 2018 snow from storm Emma & Beast from the East) our friends & family and especially my wife had an amazing time and highly recommend this lovely barn for family time or just a quiet break! Many thanks again Kate & Will.

Kind regards Adam & Sadie Jarrett

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful week away in Norfolk staying in this beautiful barn conversion! Kate has thought of everything and we couldn't fault it at all 😊

Plenty of space and 5 star accommodation, included outdoor play things for the children and a lovely garden to sit in . We went out and about and had a peaceful retreat to come home to , including the yummy shortbread on arrival.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back again !!!

3 adults, 4 boys including 2 teenagers- great time had by all 😊😊

Had a lovely holiday, accommodation was first class, plenty of room for ten people, no one was getting under everybody's feet. Owner could not do enough for us and was so pleasant. Will certainly go back some other time
