In summary our holiday cottage offers you a private fenced garden within the stunning setting of our farm and trout fishery. It is the perfect base for walking, cycling and exploring this beautiful part of Devon. Pets and families are welcome. The cottage sleeps 4 and it has had great reviews; a warm welcome, home produce and the opportunity to try Fly Fishing.

With a private hot tub and secure garden your stay at Bellbrook Fishery is guaranteed to be a relaxing one. Bellbrook Farm Annex, which is partly made from cob and dates back to the 16th century, has been newly decorated and furnished in a warm country style and is all on one level. There are two generous bedrooms that are made up as a SuperKing double and a generous twin, a bathroom with large shower and an open plan living area with a well equipped kitchen. There is Sky TV, internet access, two comfortable sofas and a selection of games and books for those wet weather days! The cottage forms an annex set next to the owner's farm house and is set down a quiet country lane. It is one of two holiday properties and forms part of a working Trout Fishery and small holding covering 40 acres and boasting seven lakes.

The large, private garden is very secure for pets and children and, as well as having a lawned area, boasts several areas dedicated to the natural flora such as bluebells, hellebore and primroses.

We aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and to this end we have provided little luxuries such as homemade produce, as well as everyday essentials from salt and pepper to cling film. Complementary tea, coffee and sugar are provided and you are welcomed with our own free range eggs! Dogs and children are most welcome and a travel cot and high chair are available free of charge. We also aim to be as eco-friendly as possible and most of the electricity and heating are provided by solar panels and a biomass boiler.

Here on the farm we breed our own rare breed sheep and at the right time of year our fields are full of lambs. We also have a pair of pet pygmy goats who love a cuddle! There are many beautiful walks right on our doorstep and of course there are the grounds of the fishery to explore. Bellbrook is also an ideal base for walking, riding, cycling or trying your hand at fly fishing. If you wish to try Fly Fishing we have equipment hire and a suitable lake for beginners:)

We are easily accessed from the A361 - the M5 is only 15 minutes away. The local villages of Oakford and Bampton have welcoming pubs with local ales and good food. The nearest pub is 1.5 miles away. There are also two excellent restaurants nearby. Local shops and supermarkets can be found in Tiverton which is 10 minutes drive – there is also a regular pannier market with tempting local produce. We are close to the historic market town of Dulverton which is known as the gateway to Exmoor National Park and is a must for the cream teas!

Chris is the owner of the property and trout fishery and is helped by his wife Ellen. We enjoy the peaceful surroundings we live in and consider ourselves very privileged to live here. We live with 3 dogs and 2 horses, 6 chickens, 2 pygmy goats and 9 Close Wool Devon sheep.

We bought the fishery as we love the quiet location and the convenience to get to the rest of the West Country from here. The valley is rich with wild life and everyday you can see Exmoor Red Deer, Badgers, Foxes, Buzzards, Heron, Kingfishers and every songbird you can imagine. And yet if you want to get to the coast the beach is only 45 mins drive or if its a walk on Exmoor that's 20mins. If you are craving the city life Exeter and Taunton are 40 mins and Bristol just 75 mins.

What makes this cottage unique

The main benefit of staying at Bellbrook is the Trout Fishery on site. Please visit our website for full details but if you are an experienced fly fisher or fancy learning then we have all the facilities you will need including tuition and equipment hire. In addition to the fishing we have beautiful walks and cosy pubs all on our doorstep. The accommodation is located on one floor and is easy to access by those less steady on their feet.

Relaxing Stay

4 adults stay for Easter Weekend.

Absolutely relaxing, Chris was a great host and made us all feel relaxed.

Cottage had everything you needed in there. Very clean and modern!

Ellen made a delicious loaf of bread for when we arrived and also a few fresh eggs ready also which was very kind!

Hot tub was perfect at any time of day, made it even better with the smell of the fire!

Pub and town only few minutes away, very beautiful village close by. Chris recommend The Swan and it was a treat, would highly recommend going but prebook!

Would happily come back and hopefully will be soon!!

Beautiful Rural Retreat

Lovely well equipped annex in a peaceful location. Very welcoming and helpful hosts who provided us with milk and a delicious home made bread loaf on arrival. The fisheries are not too busy with guests so you really feel like you have the place to yourselves. Friendly dogs and horses add to the country feel. The annex itself has everything you could possibly need.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the positive review and for recommending us to others:) We work hard to ensure a good welcome and overall experience and so of course it is very gratifying to get unsolicited positive feedback:) It is true that the hot tub takes longer to heat in the Spring due to the water temperature dropping over night - but we hope this downside is offset by the knowledge that you are doing your "green bit" rather than simply flicking a switch and using yet more of the earth's resources. We are always happy to get the fire going for you while you are out:)

Lovely house. Has everything you need. Extra treats provided- freshly made bread and eggs from their own hens. Very comfortable beds.

Everything you need is a few miles down the road.

Rural location so very peaceful. Dog loved it!

Felt very welcome.

You must try the homemade trout pate.

Special interest holidays:

The property is part of a well known Trout Fishing complex in Devon. Set in 40 acres with 7 lakes plus its own fish farm and two holiday rental properties - see E18482. The fishery attracts visitors all year round. We have all the facilities needed for those more experienced fly fishers or beginners with various introduction packages, tuition and equipment hire. The lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trout with 5 lakes being stocked with "normals" which weigh approx 2lbs + and 1 lake stocked with "specimen" fish which weigh in at 4 - 15lbs! Coast/Beach:

Situated in the middle of Devon there is access to numerous surfing beaches - North Devon (Saunton and Croyde) 55mins. South Devon (Bantham, Bigbury on Sea) 1 hour 20 mins.

We are also only 30 minutes away from Wimbleball which offers sailing and canoeing.

Travel:

Bristol Airport is 1 hour 15 mins

Exeter Airport is 1 hour

Tiverton Parkway Train Station is 20 mins away

A car is needed.

Distances:

Tiverton is the nearest well known town and is 10 miles away. The very characterful market towns of Bampton (5.5 miles) and South Molton (14 miles) are both worth a visit while the tea rooms in Dulverton (6 miles) are essential. We are also blessed with some wonderful country pubs that serve excellent food - too many to mention but starting at 2 miles away.

Further Details:

As well as all the nature and fresh air we provide on site, we are located in what is known as the Exmoor fringe. Many people visit the area to walk the moor and take in the views - it is still a truly wild area. It is also well known for star gazing and Exmoor National Park was recently designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe.

Booking Notes:
We normally accept a max of 2 dogs but get in touch if this is an issue - we can allow more small animals. The charges are £25 for the 1st pet and £15 for each pet after that. The online booking system struggles with adding the extra fee for extra pets and so we do this manually. You will be sent a booking form after you complete the booking and that is where you can state the number of pets you would like to bring.
