wonderul stay

We had a fabulous stay with Chris and Julie in their delightful house in Ste Colombe de Duras. The house was beautifully equipped, with the most fabulous pool (also bikes, pool table and lots of useful bits for the kids to play with in the pool). It has a lovely veranda for eating under and is in a perfect spot for doing any touring of the area.

Totally Chilled

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful gite, stylish mix of traditional with modern, set in stunning countryside, what more could we ask for? Julie and Rob were fantastic owners, living just around the corner they were on hand if needed and went out of their way to make sure our holiday was perfect, even providing a baby buggy, bucket and spades and a baby life jacket for our trip to the lake!

We ate and drank our body weight in blue cheese and red wine, visited night markets in the surrounding villages, took an active part in the local wine festival and came back totally chilled and relaxed. Would love to return next year.

Nice Memories from Ste Colombe de Duras

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice spacious house with its own charm and character. It can accommodate very comfortably a party of 6 people with its 3 double bedrooms. The house is situated in the beautiful Ste Colombe, Dordogne area, at approximately 1 hour drive from Bordeaux Airport (a good satnav essential) and has everything you need for a short 1 week or a longer stay. The owners - Julie and Chris welcomed us on the arrival (with some vine and food) and were excellent hosts and very helpful in all matters related to our stay. The fireplace in the main room will provide not only warmth but also a nice atmosphere for the evenings. Very clean and nice house with crisp bedding and towels provided. There are a lot of nice places to visit in the area for day trips (car essential). We recommend the area of Beynac-et-Cazenac, with several beautiful “chateau”-s. We managed to visit only one and we wished we had more time for the others. The medieval towns Sarlat-la-Canéda and La Roque-Gageac are “must-see” places. We recommend the local vine maker in Ste Colombe (just ½ mile from the house) Mr Gerard Dalla-Longa who was a brilliant host inviting us to visit his cellar. All in all a nice place to visit, lots of opportunities for car trips or foot walks, local markets, and vine makers that left us with lots of nice memories.

french paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house for any one wanting to experiece peace and tranquility, or a great base for visiting a beautiful part of France with all the nearby surrrounding areas. A large home with everything you need. A romantic getaway or ideal for serious walkers or cyclists. We was a party of 6 my two sons 13 and 16 (celebrated 16th) my husband and I and grandparents (70+). We was visiting my eldest son who lives in france in nearby town. Car is essential as nearest shops/markets are approx 10 min drive. The town of Duras has everything you will need and market days are great with all local produce. There are many places to visit in surrounding areas with beautiful countryside views. The house was very well equipped with everything that you will need and very spacious. It was very clean with beautiful white bed linen and ample bath towels provided. Julie and Chris the owners were very welcoming and had a welcome food (and wine) hamper waiting for us on arrival at the house, a lovely gesture. Even though they live on site in the grounds at the back of the house you dont see them but just ring a bell on the large barn door at side of property and they are there for you. Very very accomodating. Hopefully will be visiting again soon.
