Cottage in North Duntulm, Nr. Staffin, Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye - Renovated To High Standard. Sleeps 5 (3 Bedrooms)

In a rural setting, Willie Mcleod's is a detached property: a characteristic one-and-a-half former croft house on two floors, with open plan living space, separate kitchen, WC and bathroom (sep shower and bath) , sharing garden with our own Byre next door. Free wifi. Near midway between Staffin and Uig, Willie's is well placed for access to the coast and the Trotternish Ridge with it's wonderful Quiraing rock formations. One double, one twin and one single bedroom complement the open, light and spacious downstairs accommodation. Night storage heating (included) can be supplemented by the new, wood-burning stove (initial fuel provided). Kitchen is fully equipped, including electric oven, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Cot available. Parking for at least 3 cars. Linen and towels provided. Boot room. No pets please. Short breaks available.

Cottage is in the middle of nowhere, where wind blows, friendly dogs play with you.

The cottage of a surprise to us. First of all wind blowing a lot, even when it was not bad on your walk around Skye. Because the weather was beautiful, it was kind of refreshing. You can even feel isolated, but you have your family/friends around and that what counts. You put fire and you are warm. Evenings were nice, spend in friendly atmosphere, reading, talking, watching movies. In the mornings you have your breakfast by the table with sunrise above the see, in full sun. Wonderful moments... There was everything you need, plenty of spece for everybody, beds were comfortable... only the shower you need to learn how to operate. We highly recommend the place for its coziness and special atmosphere.

Cozy but a long ways off.

We booked late in the game, and didn't have much of a choice but to stay in what seemed like the furthest point of Skye. Despite the inconvenience of the location - the surroundings were beautiful, we enjoyed waking up to see bounding lambs in the field just at the doorstep, and enjoyed the view all the way up to the place. The house was warm and spacious and was exactly what we wanted for our getaway! Jon and Lorraine were pleasant and easy to provide information and were very available if we had any questions.

Did not enjoy the stay at the property

I have stayed at the property for 3 nights, I was looking for properties specifically with internet as i had to work or at least check emails from work as i was the only responsible person who was looking after office work from UK during Christmas holidays. My initial impression of the property was good but the owners did not let me know that the internet and phone were not working before arriving. When i arrived i saw a note and realized that there was no internet or phone connection, the owner said the problem occurred because of heavy winds which was understandable but they could have let me know at least on the day of arrival so that i could have arranged for alternative options. The kitchen was smelling horrible and the smell lasted for all the 3 days we stayed. I did not enjoy my stay at the property.

Lovely cottage in stunning surroundings

Quiet, pretty location. Lovely property which was clean and welcoming. We loved it!

We will certainly aim to return. I think this says all that needs saying. We had a lovely time and were very comfortable in the house. Highly recommend a visit.

Excellent accommodation and location

Fantastic area and location for walking and hiking and great accommodation. Skye has so much to offer for outdoor activities and photography and willie Mcleods cottage offers all of the home comforts.

A wonderful escape and great place to relax after a day out walking

The coast is no more than 500m-1km in 3 different directions, repectively looking towards the Torridons on the Mainland (100km E), Stornoway (45km N), North Uist across the Minch in the Outer Hebrides (40km W). Distances as the crow flies, ferries available from Uig (9 miles).

Travel:

Use of car recommended. Reliable but limited bus service available. Under 9o minutes from Bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. Under 100 mins from Ferry Port at Armadale.

Distances:

Staffin 8 miles, Uig (Ferries for Outer Hebrides) 9 miles, Portree 25 miles, Dunvegan Castle 38 miles.
