Located in the unspoilt village of Fearby, near Masham, with its wide village greens and within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bramblewick is everyone's idea of a traditional stone-built cottage. It has parking, a south-facing enclosed garden at the front and a patio garden at the rear. Ideally situated for touring North Yorkshire by car, cycle or on foot, or simply relaxing in beautiful countryside. Local attractions include fishing, golf, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking and tennis. The Wensleydale heritage railway and The Forbidden Corner, an attraction which defies description, are a few miles distant. Unlimited broadband WiFi is provided and one well-behaved pet is welcome. This Visit Britain 4 Star rated property sleeps up to four people in two double bedrooms - the largest, with glorious views over open country, has a king size bed and an en-suite wc and shower room. There is an additional house bathroom with wc, bath and shower.

Lovely cottage on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales

Comfortable and clean 2 bedroom cottage near Masham, North Yorkshire. Lots to do in the area and ideal location to explore York, Ripon, local steam railways and markets nearby. Lots of walks and good pubs with fine food and locally brewed ale to sample. Our cocker spaniel had a great time in this pet friendly cottage. Owners very helpful and welcome pack much appreciated. Great value and highly recommend for those looking to explore this area.

Lovely cottage, ideally situated & well equipped.

This lovely 2 bedroomed, 2 bathroom, well equipped cottage set in a beautiful, peaceful village did not seem crowded even with four large adults and medium sized dog! It was spotless on arrival and great thought had obviously gone into providing everything you might need for your stay. It was ideally situated for visiting the many attractions North Yorkshire has to offer. The weather threw everything it had at us but the snow actually added to our enjoyment. We would recommend the Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes, the Black Sheep Brewery at Masham, Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Bolton Castle but most of all the wonderful Wensleydale scenery. The Bruce Arms in Masham was very dog friendly and Vennells was excellent for a special occasion. We would certainly recommend Bramblewick Cottage to friends and relatives.

Lovely Return Visit

A lovely third stay at what we now consider to be our ' home from home' with Poppi our Labrador. We didn't venture out much as this was a chill out week and the weather was foggy, so we spent much of the week snuggled up in front of the log burner... As ever, a much enjoyed welcome pack was waiting for us in the well equipped kitchen diner, and the cottage was clean and tidy on our arrival. The owners Alison and David do everything possible to make your stay a welcome one. Thoroughly recommend Bramblewick Cottage as an excellent holiday cottage, with plenty to see and do in the area and a Brymor ice cream is a must whatever the time of year!

Owner's Response: The cottage is ideally suited for that "chill out" in the country - although the cosy log-burner ensures that the stay is anything but chilly! We do value the personal contact we have with our guests (all enquiries are responded to with a telephone call rather than just an email), and is one of the reasons we no longer use an agency to help market the property. Indeed many of our guests have become "regulars" who come back time and time again.

Worth braving the weather!

We found the cottage very peaceful and it suited us perfectly. It had everything we neededThe weather was challenging but we visited Leeds, York and Skipton, spending other days in and around Masham. Friends were able to visit and we enjoyed a tour of Theakston's brewery. We are certainly considering another stay, but maybe when the weather is likely to be better.

Owner's Response: We're glad to know you managed to explore some of the wet weather options the area has to offer. Masham also has a second real-ale brewery, in the form of the Black Sheep Brewery, which also hosts tours of its operation. If all else fails when the weather turns nasty you can just curl up by the log burner and read a book, play one of the board games or watch a DVD (all of which are provided).

Brilliant Bramblewick!

This is an outstanding cottage. It is very comfortable, warm and cosy and equipped with everything you might expect in a holiday cottage but with much more. There was a very welcome welcome pack with a Yorkshire theme; instructions were available for everything from the tv/dvd to the log burner. The bed was comfy and cleanliness was clearly a priority. Location is ideal for the many places to visit between Leyburn and Ripon. We would especially recommend Jervaulk Abbey for quiet serenity and the Theakston's brewery tour at Masham.

Owner's Response: Location was carefully considered when we purchased the property some years ago, and we feel it has paid off, as many of our reviews have testified. Providing clear instructions for appliances maximises the time our guests can enjoy the cottage and its facilities, without having to waste time and energy working out how to watch a DVD or use the cooker. Bramblewick Cottage Fearby Masham

Comfortable well equipped cottage. Beautiful comfortable beds and bedding we all slept better than at home which is unusual. Well equipped modern kitchen and modern clean bathrooms.

Nice welcome pack.

Good for taking our smalldog for a walk and the fenced garden was a bonus.

We ate at the Kings Head in Masham several times because we were spoilt for choice with the menu and the staff were all very efficient.

Very convenient for the Dales and Whitby. Hope to come again next year.

Travel:

The nearest railway station is Northallerton, on the East Coast Main Line, which is 16 miles away, and therefore use of a car is recommended. The A1, nearest junction Leeming Bar, is 10 miles distant.

Distances:

Masham 1.5 miles, Leyburn 10 miles, Ripon 11 miles, Harrogate 24 miles, Hawes 26 miles, York 42 miles.

The unspoilt village of Fearby, with its wide village greens, is within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Many walks and cycle rides can be enjoyed from the front door of the cottage, and a short drive will take you into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where the varied natural delights of Wensleydale beckon. The village pub is only yards from the cottage, and serves locally-brewed real ales and delicious home cooked meals. The delightful market town of Masham is a mere mile and a half away, and can easily be reached on local footpaths. As well as boasting two breweries, both with visitor centres, and many local shops, Masham hosts an annual Steam Rally in July, and a Sheep Fair in September. For golfers, Masham Golf Club welcomes visitors to play its course : "A lovely nine-holer in North Yorkshire" - Peter Alliss, The 2012 Open, Royal Lytham. Horse Riding is available at Masham Riding & Trekking Centre, Fly Fishing at Leighton Reservoir and Clay Pigeon Shooting at nearby Warren Ground. A vintage bus serves Wensleydale in the summer, calling at Masham and connecting with the Wensleydale Railway, which operates steam trains in the main season.

Booking is direct with the owner, by phone or email. A non-returnable deposit of one third of the rental rate is payable at the time of booking, with the balance made no later than 6 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Short breaks are accepted but, apart from Winter and Low Season, we are only able to take them at less than 4 weeks notice. Unless otherwise agreed, arrival time is after 3.30pm and departure time by 10 am on all dates.

Notes on prices:
Although at peak times the owners only take bookings for a full week, they will consider short breaks during these periods, if there is availability at short notice. Please contact the owners to discuss such bookings.

Other: Enclosed front porch with hanging space for coats and boot & shoe rack.
