Overview

About the property

Cottage in Betws Y Coed, Snowdonia, North Wales - Peaceful Location With Spectacular Views - 15 Minute Walk To The Village

Glanrhyd cottage has recently been sympathetically restored by local craftsmen employing traditional methods and environmentally friendly materials. Whilst authentic and traditional, the cottage enjoys all mod cons. The cottage is tastefully designed and ideally suited to discerning couples seeking a romantic break and solitude. However, it can comfortably accommodate up to four people in two double bedrooms at opposing ends of the property, allowing for space and privacy. We offer a reduced rate for a single couple sharing according to the season.

The cottage garden borders the river Conwy, whilst the garden is enclosed we urge caution to families with children or a dog.

About George Smith

Hello, my name is George.

George Smith purchased this cottage in 2005

Why George Smith chose Conwy

I've been fortunate enough to own Glanrhyd Cottage for approximately eight years.

I have been visiting this area for many years and instantly fell in love with the ruin and always hoped to own it, so when the owners offered it to me I jumped at the chance.

It has been a labour of love as the cottage was a complete wreck when we purchased it with a tree growing inside, we spent two years restoring it with a lovely local traditional builder.

What makes this cottage unique

I love the solitude, views, walks and fishing.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I stayed here recently with my partner and our young daughter. The property was exactly as advertised, clean and well stock with everything you could need. A very short walk away from the centre of the village and an easy drive to all Snowdonias attractions.

Excellent service before, during and after the rental - couldn't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic find

  • 5 of 5

We have just finished a glorious week at Glanrhyd cottage in Betws y Coed.

It's location is a short walk from town but is secluded enough to make you think you are in the heart of the countryside with only the noise of the gurgling river at the end of the garden and the baa of the sheep in the field next door.

The cottage itself was the perfect size for us and our 2 dogs. A place to both relax and to use as a base to explore the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.

We will definitely be back 😀

Comfortable , secluded cottage, great position next to the river

  • 4 of 5

Had a relaxing time, spent one whole day sitting reading by the river- perfect. Other days spent walking in the area. Only minor complaint is that the provision of towels was not very generous - 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels between two of us for a week seemed a bit mean, but maybe that's just me!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, regarding the towels we can only apologise, if you had let us know you needed more we would have brought you more immediately! We hope to see you again. Best wishes.

Coast/Beach:

We are approximately 30 minutes drive from the nearest beach

Distances:

The nearest village is just a couple of short miles away and can be easily walked to from the cottage.

Further Details:

Directly in front of the cottage is a well-known pool which tends to hold sea trout and salmon (depending on time of year), occasionally it might be possible to fish but this is subject to the consent of the fishing rights holders. All fishing is subject to arrangement and a charge of twenty five pounds for the day, there is also plenty of other fishing in the area we suggest purchasing day tickets through the local angling club in Betws Y Coed and we would be pleased to offer you advice. The fishing is subject to availability and must be booked and paid for in advance. You will be required to purchase a national rod licence, visit the environment agency website for more details.
