Wonderful experience!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this beautiful and comfortable house! We took the train from Paris to Bayeux and rented a car at Renault Rent which was a 2 minute walk from the train station. Stopped at the grocery store in Bayeux before heading out to our French country home. We met 2 of our friends at the house so we were 5 altogether, 3 Americans and 2 British. The house is wonderful!! We all had our own bedroom and 3 bathrooms was perfect. Comfortable beds, clean, everything we needed. We spent time in Bayeux, Honfleur, and toured the D-Day beaches. Julie was our contact at the house and she, too, was great! I can't say enough about our wonderful stay here. The tour of the farm is recommended. Just a great experience! Thank you to the owners for sharing their house.

Already booked again for next year!

  • 5 of 5

We travelled as a party of 7 people in two families. The house was perfect for our requirements.

It was so well equipped. The house was really spacious giving us plenty of room to spread out. The beds were amazingly comfortable.

I could not fault the communications with the owners or the help we received from all the staff and resident on the estate.

The house is part of a small group of magnificent properties including a cider farm and orchards. The cider, calvados and other products produced are outstanding and the farm tour is a definite must.

The grounds are extensive and enabled us to play cricket and boule.

The towns of Bayeux and Caen are within 30 mins drive as are the D-Day beaches.

There is a large Supermarket in Bayeux and smaller shops in all the surrounding towns and villages.

A perfect place to stay if you want peace and relaxation but be in close proximity to lots of things to do.

Roll on next year, we can't wait to return.

A delighful slice of Normandy

  • 5 of 5

The house is very large and spacious and was perfect for us (4 adults and 2 young girls). The house was clean, neat, well maintained and well appointed. The listing on the Owner’s Direct website and the photos are accurate and are a good description of this impressive and charming property. Communication with the owners was easy and rapid, and checking in and out could not have been easier.

It is quiet, a perfect spot for relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and we all caught up on sleep. The kitchen was fully equipped and we cooked in three nights. Shopping was easy and fun at the local markets and in Bayeux.

The house was excellent for the kids, with swings, fields to explore, lots of cows grazing near by. For a relaxing or down day, you can enjoy hundreds of DVD movies (most in English), a fireplace and several games to play. A must is to visit Les Vergers de Ducy, the cidery next door, and sample (and purchase) some of the many varieties of calvados, cider, pommaeu, and juice made on the property.

The house at Ducy is an excellent base for exploring Normandy and the Calvados region. Bayeux (largely spared by WWII) is 15 minutes away and is excellent for walking, visiting the famous 900+ year old Tapestry, and the soaring cathedral that dominates the skyline for miles around. The invasion beaches are a little farther north and span many miles along the coast. Visiting the American cemetery at Omaha Beach was the most poignant and moving part of our trip. We also visited Mont Saint-Michel, which was about an hour and 15 minutes from the house, so a very manageable day trip.

Overall it was a fantastic stay. Highly recommended.
