About the Owner

We first discovered Traben-Trarbach in 1998 and after many holidays and professional visits here, we decided to buy our home in the Mosel Valley in 2010 - and we've never regretted it.

We are happy living here and are still discovering new places to visit in and around the Mosel Valley; in the Rhine Valley to the east, the Eifel to the north, the Hunsrück to the south and Belgium, Luxembourg and France to the west.

Having known the area for many years we are happy to help you plan your stay here so that you can enjoy the area as much as we do.

Comfortable apartment in the middle of the valley

  • 4 of 5

Great location in the middle of the beautiful Mosel Valley. We found the place easily and were warmly welcomed by Mary & Rick. The apartment is spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely garden and outdoor seating. Our 10 year old daughter enjoyed the pool and the friendly dogs very much. We stayed 10 days and visited the little towns and castles along the Mosel. Just driving through the vineyards was so enjoyable with such fantastic views. Mary provided us with a folder with information/leaflets on places to visit in the area and very kindly obliged us by making dinner reservations for us at The Moselperle on our first night. Both Mary and Rick are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had the most beautiful and relaxing holiday and look forward to staying there again soon. Thank you so much Mary & Rick.

One of the best holidays I've had

  • 5 of 5

We found the place without any problems and were made very welcome. The accommodation is very clean, and amazingly quiet. There are red squirrels! Mary and Rick are so helpful, recommending places to visit, and particularly, where to buy wine. Although there is no shop within easy walking distance, there is an excellent supermarket in Traben-Trarbach, so catering was no problem. Travelling by train was inexpensive and straightforward, so we were able to go as far as Cologne, Boppard and Trier on day trips with no trouble. We had a really good holiday, and would go back again: highly recommended.

All you need for great holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week staying in the apartment. Mary and Rick made us very welcome and were very helpful with recommendations for places to eat, especially the ice cream cafes! Plus a good selection of local maps, tourist leaflets, games and books were available and Mary and Rick were happy to point things out and check everything was OK without being intrusive.

The apartment was really clean with all the things you need for an easy holiday. What we found really good was a supply of tea towel, washing up items, loo roll etc as we travelled on a motorbike so were limited with what we could bring.

The photos don't do the size justice as we thought the open plan living area was bigger than we expected and there was plenty of storage space for all our bike gear.

The gardens were lovely with a choice of patios and we found that you could either sit in the sun or shade most times of the day. Sometimes with the rather adorable dogs - who are both so lovely as I am a bit wary of dogs, however I had no worries with these and looked forward to seeing them.

We were able to walk to the nearby villages for meals and pick up a boat for a trip on the Model, which was really good when it rained as we didn't have to rely on the motorbike, plus it gave us chance to sample the local wines! We particularly liked the Moselperle and Marika's Stubchen for evening meals and Cafe Leon for coffee in Wolf plus Marcello's Eisek in Kove for ice cream, coffee and light bite, esp as they are open till 10pm.

To finish our week we were lucky enough to go to a concert at the local school with Mary, Rick and Toby where the Rochester Girls School Choir were performing along with the Traban Trabach school band, such a great evening. A big thank you to Mary, Rick and Toby for sorting our tickets.

If we were to visit the area again we would definitely be staying here.

From the Owner

During our many visits here we saw numerous lovely houses in beautiful locations but when we first saw this house with its stunning views of the Mosel Valley vineyards we felt that this surpassed them all. Our house is in a quiet area about 100m above the Mosel and the views are stunning. To the rear of the house we have panoramic views of the Mosel Valley vineyards: to one side of our house we look over woodland, vineyards and the valley of a small stream, whilst from the front we have a small area of grassland with woods beyond it. We are happy living here and are still discovering new places to visit in and around the Mosel Valley.

From the Owner

The front door of the holiday flat opens directly onto one of three patio areas in our secluded and peaceful garden – ideal for sitting, relaxing, enjoying the views and sampling the local produce or a cup of tea! You may spot a variety of different birds and perhaps catch a glimpse of deer and red squirrels. The village of Wolf and the small town of Traben-Trarbach both offer a variety of good quality restaurants and cafes, many alongside the river. Why not take a boat trip from either Wolf or Traben-Trarbach to enjoy the delights of the Mosel? There are footpaths from more or less outside the front door offering a variety of walks. Cycling is popular here, bike hire is available locally and there are many signposted cycle paths – level or hilly.
