Butterfield Cottage, couldn't be better placed for a self catering holiday for 6 in the Peak District National Park. It lies in the heart of the national park in a quiet spot on the edge of Tideswell, just a 5 minute stroll from shops, pubs and tearooms. Completely refurbished, it provides bright and airy accommodation. Stylishly decorated throughout in English country cottage style, with good quality furniture and antiques to create an extremely comfortable and relaxing environment complete with all the modern facilities required for a perfect self catering holiday. It has some of the best views in Tideswell across the dale and is not overlooked. The cottage has a lovely outdoor sitting and dining area to the front of the cottage and free Wi Fi. It's particularly suited to families with older children and groups getting together, and for those who enjoy walking, culture and outdoor pursuits. Groups of 14 can be accommodated if booked together with Bluebell Cottage.

Well worth a try

This cottage was gutted and cleverly designed so that the downstairs is spacious, but upstairs is slightly cramped for 6. It is on the edge of the village, but still only a brisk five minuted to the shops, so is nice and peaceful

Butterfield cottage Tideswell

I would definitely recommend this cottage. It is spacious for 6, homely, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Information from owners was clear and accurate and they made it easy to book etc. We went in deepest winter and the cottage was lovely and warm.

The area is stunning. Amazing walks from the doorstep and Tideswell has a handy, inexpensive local store plus excellent pubs and cafes for food. It's a really pretty village. We plan to return!

Lovely cottage

A lovely cottage in a great location. Lots of local amenities and a great base for the peaks.

Manages to be spacious and cosy at the same time!! Was lovely and clean and the tea and biscuits left for us where a great touch. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher.

The owner was very easy to deal with and responded to all queries very promptly.

Highly recommended.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Manchester which is approximately 45 minutes. East Midlands Airport is also only 50 minutes away. Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster is just over 1 hour away.

Birmingham Airport is also just over 1 hour away.

The nearest main train station is Chesterfield which is 30 minutes away. Sheffield railway station is 45 minutes away from the cottage and Buxton station is 15 minutes away.

Car parking is on street outside the cottage or use the free car park just behind.

Distances:

Bakeswell is 6 miles, Castleton is 5 miles and Buxton is 7 miles from Tideswell.

Chatsworth House is 15 minutes drive. Alton Towers is an hour. Sheffield is 20 miles and Manchester is 25 miles.

Tideswell does not suffer from the maddening crowds and is a peaceful central location to explore the magic of the Peak District National Park

The Peak District offers stunning scenery and breathtaking landscapes for you to enjoy and explore. The Village of Tideswell stands in heart of the Peak District national park. Famous for its fine church known as 'The Cathedral of the Peaks', the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking and outdoor pursuits including cycling and climbing and the Monsal trail is close by. Millers Dale is just outside the village, Mam Tor, Castleton, Chatsworth House and Gardens including a farmyard and adventure playground for the children and Bakewell famous for it's 'Bakewell Pudding' are nearby, the spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive.

The village has 3 great local pubs, a cracking cafe, chemist, family butchers, bakers, greengrocers, fish and chip shop and a Co-Op supermarket which is open 7 days a week until 10pm most nights! We actively encourage guests to use the local shops and drink the local ale to keep the village sustainable.

Full payment is required for bookings taken up to eight weeks before arrival. When booking further in a advance a deposit of a third of the rental is asked for with the balance payable 7 weeks before arrival. Please pay by cheque or bank transfer.
The rental includes free Wi Fi, central heating, power, initial supplies for the log-burner and bed linen and towels. Dogs are most welcome at a cover charge of £25 each. Early check in at 1pm and late checkout at 12 noon often available at £25 each. £40 Good housekeeping bond, promptly returned when cottage left in good order.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally on a Saturday but is flexible outside of peak season. Please contact the owner with your requirements.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

  • Notes on accommodation: Outside: The cottage gardens catch the sun all day and the rear garden is secure for dogs. The rear garden is walled and gated and has steps up to a raised patio area with garden furniture. Behind the cottage is a grassy lane leading to the children’s play area, small free car park and a grassed area suitable for dog walking or playing ball. A covered passageway with lockable door leads from the back through to the front garden and this area is suitable for storing bikes. The front garden is fenced and gated and enjoys sun late into the evening. The new outside dining and sitting area is a great spot to sit and sip a glass of wine at the end of the day, whilst taking in the super views across the dale. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The rental includes towels, bedlinen, central heating, broadband, power and initial supplies for the log burner in the cooler months Other: The dining table seats 6 and through patio doors overlooks the sunny walled rear garden area.
