This beautifully designed Villa in the Argentinian style, built 10 years ago, is open plan on one floor, which is excellent for access. It has a beautiful private pool in mature gardens. A wonderful terrace with panoramic views of the sea. Only a ten minute drive from the excellent town of Almunecar and ideal for adventuring in the Alpujarras or visiting Granada with its world heritage centre. Whether you simply seek soaking up the sun on the beaches or prefer to walk the numerous National Park walks, the villa offers interesting choices to fulfil everyone's requirements.

About David Paul Charles

We, Claire and David live in Torquay on the English Riviera. Both semi retired professionals, Claire was a senior partner in Family Law practice, and David a Chartered Accountant. Claire loves gardening and walking David travelling and sport. We are very young at heart and love to dine with a good bottle of wine in great company.

Why David Paul Charles chose Ítrabo

We love Almunecar, the atmosphere, the festivals, year round sunny weather, the sea and all the local activities. In one hours drive you can be up in snowy mountains of the Sierra Nevada or wander through the narrow white villages of the Alpujjarras, where chestnut trees grow and handmade rugs are still made in the local houses. There is the huge National Park behind Nerja with many hike trails, barbecue areas, acres of wild forest and high hills. Fish bars on the beach where you can order freshly caught fish, whilst sitting next to the sea. The old town is also very interesting to visit as Almunecar is steeped in history, there are Roman ruins and aqueducts, the Moorish Castle and caves, the cobbled streets and whitewashed houses all with sea views.

What makes this villa unique

The villa itself is situated on El Loma del Gato at 300 meters above sea level. This provides panoramic views on the Mediterrean. It is very quiet and private with a beautiful pool and large mature hillside gardens with hundreds of varieties of trees and exotic plants. Only a ten minute drive to the beautiful beaches, shops, bars and the local restaurants. It also has very easy access to the main road to Malaga or Granada, the Sierra Nevadas and Alpujarras. The airport is only an hour away, an easy drive along an outstanding motorway.

A hired car is essential and the last 5 minutes of the drive on the Loma del Gato is on a dirt track and can be a little scary. However there are many hillside villas that use this track and it is quite safe.

Outside: Wonderful mature gardens with specimen trees spread over 5000 sqm. Barbecue, sun loungers and umbrella. Pool size approx 4m x 10m not shared. Shower by pool. Pool maintained. Utility Room: There is a clothes dryer in the rear outhouse and clothes line outside. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included.The villa will be cleaned weekly with a linen change also weekly. In the event you need to change midway there is spare linen. Other: On the patio overlooking the sea is a large table and seating.

A piece of paradise

The villa was everything we could have imagined and more. We have been to Spain many times but nothing compares to the villa’s idyllic setting with private pool and fabulous gardens (an unusual thing for Spain). The views over the ocean from up on the mountain are breath-taking, so we spent every evening eating on the balcony.

The amenities were all there along with an immaculately clean interior. The only bad thing about the stay was having to leave at the end of the week. If we come back to the south of Spain to holiday, we will definitely be staying here!

Driving ten minutes. There are numerous beaches all delicious to explore.


Malaga International Airport less than one hours drive away.

Granada airport is a similar distance.


The distance to Almunecar is 5 kilometres. There is a castle and character streets similar to York.

Nerja is about 15mins drive. Its neighbour is Frigliana a listed Spanish village.

Granada is a 45 min drive.

The Alpujarras are about 30 mins drive.

The National Park with outstanding mountain drives and walks is accessible .

from just outside Almunecar.

Salubrena, Frigliana and other pretty villages are within minutes.

Details of places of interest and restaurants will be found in the villa. Almunecar is a thriving town with numerous restaurants and night life to suit all tastes. It is a popular resort for people from Granada and Europe. It retains its medieval character yet offers every facility.
