Bayclose is a 2nd Floor Penthouse Apartment with stunning sea and coastal views over Freshwater Bay situated in a peaceful rural location 5 minutes easy walk from the promenade and beach yet close to local shops and villages. Bayclose is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and is also in a Conservation Area as is most of Freshwater Bay. The Isle of Wight has 17 award winning beaches. Several of these are within a short distance from the flat for instance Freshwater Bay, Colwell Bay (which has a Blue Flag Award and with it's fine firm yellow sand and gently shelving beach it is ideal for young children and families.) Compton, Brook and Totland. The picturesque harbour village of Yarmouth is 3 miles away by car or is a pleasant walk partially along the Yar Estuary. There are many country and downland walks from the doorstep. One of these walks is the Tennyson trail part of which you can pick up from a footpath near the apartment. This walk takes you via the Tennyson monument to the Needles and the Needles Old Battery owned by the National Trust. The county town of Newport is 12 miles away with its excellent variety of shops and supermarkets. However for every day needs there is a traditional, well stocked village shop just 5 minutes walk away. The apartment has a balcony from which there are also fantastic sea views. It has a table and 4 chairs directly accessed by French doors from the sitting room.

Accommodation comprises of:-

A Fully fitted kitchen with Gas hob and Electric Fan oven; Fridge with ice making compartment; Dishwasher; Microwave; Washing Machine; Espresso Italian Stove Top Coffee Maker; DAB radio.

A large and spacious sitting/dining room with fantastic sea views. 2 cream leather settees - one 3 seater and one 2 seater. 42" flat screen television with Talktalk You View Box, DVD player. Ipod docking station/speakers. Dining table and 4 chairs. Antique georgian sideboard. French doors onto a balcony from which there are also wonderful sea views.

There are two good sized comfortable double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. All beds are made up with cream Egyptian Cotton Bedlinen. The front bedroom (double bed) has sea views down to Freshwater Bay and the beach. The bathroom is in between the 2 bedrooms. There is a bath with mixer taps and shower over. Basin and WC. Heated towel rail.

Free Unlimited WiFi. Some DVD's and board games provided. Buckets, spades, beach mats, beach balls etc provided. Binoculars are also provided for guests use but please do not take these off the premises!

Duvets, pillows, and Cream Egyptian cotton bedlinen is provided (beds made up for your arrival). Towels - 1 large bath towel per person plus a hand towel in the bathroom.

Tea towels and dishcloths are also provided. Please Note though that Beach Towels are NOT provided.

Full Gas central heating - this is a very efficient system!. Radiators are thermostatically individually controlled and the flat can be as warm as you wish! Also the flat is very well insulated.

The flats have their own off road very private car which cannot be seen from the main road and each of the 10 flats has its own dedicated parking space marked with the flat no.

We welcome children of all ages. However we do NOT provide any equipment for babies and toddlers. Also please note that babies and toddlers are counted as people in our maximum sleeping capacity of 4 persons.

No pets.

No smoking at all either inside the flat OR on the balcony.

Please note we do not accept same sex groups under the age of 25.

Please note we do not accept wedding parties.

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ALLOW OUTDOOR SHOES OR BOOTS TO BE WORN IN THE APARTMENT. There is plenty of space to leave footwear outside our own front door and there are also coat hooks for outdoor coats etc.

Change over day - We aim to be as flexible as possible subject to availability so do please ask if your preferred start day is available and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements. .Arrival time is anytime from 3.30 p.m. onwards. Departure time is by 10.00 a.m.

The Daffodil Cafe - 5 minutes walk from our apartment down at Freshwater Bay

The Blue Crab - in Yarmouth.

The Hut at Colwell Bay - it is right down on the Promenade - they get their fish straight from the local fishermen

The Red Lion at Old Freshwater - again not far at all from the apartment

On the Rocks - in Yarmouth - cooks steaks and the like on hot rocks at your table.

The Kings Head - in Yarmouth

Isla's Conservatory at The George - in Yarmouth

Off the Rails (the old Station) - in Yarmouth

Farringford Manor

The Highdown Inn - further up the road from Farringford Manor

The Sun Inn at Hulverstone near Brook. Wonderful views from their garden.

Many other cafes, restaurants and pubs in Yarmouth and Freshwater.

This apartment has one of the best coastal views in Britain and is absolutely immaculate. We could not have chosen a nicer place to stay. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were warm and everything worked well. It was also quiet, so just sitting on the sofa, in front of the French windows, reading a good book was a real pleasure. From the front door you have a wonderful choice of walks, ranging from a casual stroll to the Bay, to a blustery walk up onto Tennyson Down, with fantastic views across the Solent and Dorset beyond, truly memorable for all the right reasons.

Myself, husband, daughter and fiancé have just returned from one week's holiday at your flat. We have been regular visitors to the Island for many years, so know it well. However, I can safely say that we have never stayed in such a lovely apartment and location as yours. Everything was as stated in the description and more! It was clean, well equipped and very comfortable, everything was to hand, making for a lovely holiday (even the weather was kind)!

I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely flat and hope to return myself one day. If it is in order I would like to post a similar review on Trip Advisor, as this little gem needs to be shared!

I stayed here with my adult son and we found the accommodation excellent. Apartment was clean, spacious and attractive. All facilities were good, view was stunning from both the balcony and the main bedroom. Wi-fi worked perfectly which was important to us and we had a really enjoyable weekend break.

Great Easter break

We had a lovely break at this top floor flat. It was clean and had everything you needed from a pint of milk and biscuits on arrival to buckets and spades for the children. The balcony is great for sunbathing. As it is on the top floor the roof is sloping in places. This wasn't a proble for my youngest as she is only 9. Not sure what the smoking policy is for the whole building and whether the other 9 flats are holiday homes or permanent residences, as it was often a bit smoky when sitting on the balcony.

Owner's Response: I am pleased you enjoyed your break in our apartment. To addiress your issues. With regard to the sloping roof in the bedroom. We advertise clearly that this is a penthouse apartment and by definition this means a sloping roof. You say it was not a problem for your 9 year old and the implication therefore is that it might be for others. This is very definitely not the case. I should point out that our grown up sons in their 20's frequently stay in that bedroom without any issues in the winter period and in fact you are only the second person in 4 years of intensive letting to have made any comment regarding this bedroom. With regard to the smoking you smelt whilst out on the balcony. You are the only person who has ever made any comment about smell from smoking. We, in our flat, totally ban smoking both inside and outside on the balcony. We cannot be held responsible for other owners in the other flats. All the other 9 flats are privately owned by different individuals - some are permanently lived in and some owners use them for their holiday homes - and we therefore obviously have no control over what other people do or who might be visiting the other flats. We can only think that this was a one off since as I say NO - ONE has ever previously complained nor have we ourselves ever had any trouble during times when we have lived there on occasions in the past. Obviously, with it's open aspect to the sea, I can only think this is a most unusual occurence.

Good location, fantastic view from the property

The property was very clean when we arrived and instructions on parking and access were very clear. It was also nice to have tea bags, milk and chocolate biscuits waiting for us! The flat suited our family well for a short break and is only a short drive from the ferry terminal in Yarmouth. The owner had left buckets and spades, which our children enjoyed using at the beach. The flat was in a great location for the Needles and not far to drive to other beaches and attractions further round the island. There is a good sized Co-op supermarket in Freshwater and we found a good chippy in Totland. A lovely holiday.
