The cottage is situated just outside Saint Martin des Pres, a small village in Cotes d'Armor. It's central location in Brittany makes this cottage an ideal touring base. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the cottage comfortably sleeps seven people. The cottage has electric heating and the cost of electricity is included in the rental. There is a wood burner in the lounge. An initial supply of wood is provided but there is a small charge for additional wood. Towels and Bed linen are included.

The cottage has Satellite TV and free Wi-Fi internet access is available.

There is a fenced garden in front of the cottage with a garden table and chairs. The garden gets the sun first thing in the morning and is a lovely area to eat your breakfast.

There is also a large garden with a decked area, table, chairs and sun loungers. There are also swings, a slide and a boules court. This part of the garden gets the sun all day until it goes down. With views of the surrounding countryside it's an ideal place to eat alfresco and relax in the sun.

Brittany really does have it all. If you want to do more than simply relax in the garden, there are many activities to choose from. Whether you’re looking for beautiful walks, watersports, fishing, golf or sandy beaches, you’ll find all of these close to our cottage. Nearby you can visit the beautiful Lake of Guerlédan, which is surrounded by the forest of Quénécan. The lake is approximately a 15 minutes drive away and along with its manmade beaches it offers a wide range of activities including water sports, boat hire, fishing, horse riding and a climbing centre.

If you enjoy a round of golf, then look no further! Brittany has many superb golf courses. The owner of the cottage is a keen golfer and will be able to offer you advice on courses that would suit you best. For more general information on golf courses in Brittany, visit the Golf Bretagne website.

The coast is a 40 minutes drive away.You can enjoy beautiful sandy beaches at Binic and Saint Brieuc.

Although change over days are marked as Saturday, the owners will be as flexible if possible.

About the Owner

Owners Adele and Andrew bought the property 9 years ago, originally as a holiday home. After falling in love with the Breton way of life they took the plunge and moved to Brittany on a permanent basis, 4 years ago. They have renovated the main farmhouse in which they live and have converted a former cow shed into beautiful a holiday cottage. With over 30 years experience as a general builder Andrew has continued to work in Brittany. He is a keen golfer and fisherman. Adele was previously a Community Nurse but now spends her days looking after the gite, gardening and looking after their animals, which include 3 dogs, a cat a horse and 2 sheep.

charming cottage in idyllic setting

We stayed in the cottage two years ago and decided to come back because we had such a lovely time before. We weren't disappointed, the cottage was as attractive, well finished, clean and charming as it was before. Having two bathrooms is a big plus, especially if there is a group of you, not to mention the incredibly peaceful setting. The owners, Andy and Adele, are really helpful and friendly but only if you need it. Little things that I liked were milk being available on arrival, a dishwasher, walk in shower, firewood if we needed it. The surrounding countryside is lovely and it is well located for day trips. We loved it and plan to go back next year with other members of our family

Only a week...sigh.

Our visits to France are usually based in Normandy so to venture to Brittany was a step into the unknown. Will we like it? Will there be much to do or see? By the end of our weeks stay at Adele and Andrew's beautiful cottage, these questions and others were answered with a resounding YES!

The cottage is located in a beautiful rural setting amongst the fields of a working farm and animals, wild and domesticated, are never far away. We were fortunate to see the Kestrel chicks emerge from their nest in the neighbouring barn and take their clumsy, maiden flights. Also watching were the many baby rabbits that would scatter when you appeared, but then emerge from the brambles, won over by their curiosity.

A fifteen minute drive gets you to the nearest town, Quintin, where the supermarket has anything you need for your stay, including a superb fish counter.

Further afield (40 minute drive), is the delightful seaside town of Binic with a beautiful beach hidden from sight, and accessed through a stone tunnel in the Harbour Wall. A great secret, and just a minute’s walk from a number of Creperies overlooking the harbour.

The cottage is superbly equipped, beautifully maintained and the perfect location to simply do nothing or perhaps stroll amongst the fields. It also provides a great base from which to explore the villages, towns and beauty spots in this unspoilt area of France.

Our hosts, Adele and Pep were welcoming and friendly yet unobtrusive and always prepared to offer guidance on what the vicinity had to offer.

We can’t wait for our next visit, not least for the baskets of fresh strawberries that mysteriously kept appearing on our doorstep!

Idyllic Brittany getaway!

The cottage was beautiful, comfortable and tastefully decorated to a very high standard and with loads of nice extra touches (face cloths, luxury toiletries etc). There was a welcome pack which included milk so we could make a cup of tea as soon as we arrived!

We took our parents so it was useful having a bedroom and bath room downstairs for them, as well as having the bathroom and bedrooms upstairs. Next time we will take more of our family as there was plenty of room.

Andy and Adele were lovely, really friendly and helpful. It was useful having them next door but it was still very private.

You would need a car for this holiday but the place itself was so pretty and peaceful. The whole area is one of the prettiest I've seen in Brittany. All the gardens looked like picture postcards, including the one with the cottage.

We visited Binic when we wanted a seaside day. We also visited a nearby lake that was gorgeous. Lots of good value restaurants nearby.

We loved the place, we were so relaxed when we came back and we plan to go back as soon as we can.

We bought the house in 2005. Although at the time it was in need of renovation we could see the potential it had to become a fantastic family home. We love the countryside location. It really is a relaxing place to be!!

Travel:

Due to it's rural location a car essential.

Dinard Airport 1hour 20mins by car. Rennes Airport 1hour 35mins by car.

Roscoff ferry port 1 hour 35 mins by car.

Saint Malo ferry port 1 hour 40 mins by car.

Distances:

The village of Saint Martin des Pres is 4km way. It has an excellent restaurant, bar and boulangerie.

The lac de Guerlédan, is approximately a 15 minutes drive away. Along with its beautiful man-made beaches it offers a wide range of activities including water sports, boat hire, fishing, horse riding and a climbing centre.

The north coast is a 40 minutes drive away where you can enjoy beautiful sandy beaches.

The nearest town is Mur de Bretagne which is 10km away.

Further Details:

Supermarkets can be found in Mur de Bretagne and Quintin.

Brittany is steeped in history. Visits to the historic towns of Pontivy and Lamballe and small towns of character such as Quintin, Moncontour and Josselin are recommended.

The beach at Binic is also a favourite with visitors.

The large grounds which include a large decked area with table, chairs and sun loungers are the perfect place to eat alfresco and to relax unwind. With views of the surrounding countryside t really is idyllic. There's some swings and a slide and if you fancy some competition there's also a boules court! There's plenty of parking available. Under cover parking is available which makes this property ideal for motor cyclists. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are included in the rental. The property is cleaned weekly and towels and bed linen are changed on a weekly basis.
