Guestbook comments from the owner

"A special home in a perfect location" (Sept. 2011). This was our second visit to Cicekli Tas Ev - we had thoroughly enjoyed our first visit as a couple some years ago and thought it would be a great location for a holiday with our daughter and friend, both 15yrs. old, which it turned out to be. The house has a lovely feel, light and airy with many nice touches. The pool is kept spotlessly clean by Nevzat, who comes in early every day, is incredibly helpful and friendly.

"Lovely villa. beautiful scenery good food and friendly people - loved it" (June 2012). We truly enjoyed our holiday in Kalkan at this beautiful villa. The villa was exactly as shown in the pictures and the owner was really helpful in sending us local information and guidelines for utilities at the villa.

"Pretty, comfortable villa, good location, friendly people and good food".(July 2012). Cicekli Tas Ev means 'stone house with flowers' and it certainly lives up to its name. Charming villa inside and out.

From the Owner

Although we were familiar with most Mediterranean countries; we had never been to Turkey, however, in 2004 some friends invited us to stay at their villa in Kalkan. Having been fairly sceptical about Turkey beforehand, we were overwhelmed by the peaceful beauty of the Kalkan area and kisla in particular. Turkey is such a spacious country that it is such a pleasure to get away from overcrowded locations. The Lycian coast with its Turquoise waters is generally unspoilt with beautiful beaches and without high rise developments. We had fallen in love with Kalkan and came back the following year and bought Cicekli Tas Ev in 2005 just as it was being completed.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Tennis can be played at the Patara Prince Club which is about 10 minutes walk from the house and is open to non-members and charged at an hourly rate.

Also for the active ; a variety of watersports are on offer : Blue Marlin Watersports in the harbour offer waterskiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, dinghy sailing, banana, ringo rides and speed boat trips are on offer.

Kalkan Port is also an excellent location to select one of the many Gulet trips. These typically local traditional boats offer fantastic day trips . These can be to a series of bays for swimming and sightseeing or to specific sites such as the sunken city of Kekova. All day trips include wonderful Meditteranean catering and great hospitality.

For those interested in history and archaelogical sites ; the Lycia area is absolutely packed with treasures, a good many within easy reach from Kalkan. e.g. Patara, Xanthos, Pinara, Tios, Letoon, Myra and Kekova are just a few.

Two minutes walk to the nearest beach (100m approx. from the villa).

This is an ideal bathing spot; possibly the best in the entire Kalkan area.

The beach club is free to all guests with sun-longers and parasols and other facilities. The only condition being that any food and drink should be obtained from the beach club.

The beach club also run a frequent ferry service (at minimal cost) from the beach into Kalkan town - ideal for an evening out at one of Kalkan's many restaurants.

Dalaman is the nearest airport and the journey to the villa by car takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. Most visitors usually hire a car which they pick up at the airport; however, transfers can be arranged should visitors not wish to have a car everyday ; as local cars can be hired at a modest price on a day to day basis.

The villa is about 1 km. from Kalkan town. This is accessible by foot avoiding any main roads. There is an abundance of places of interest within easy striking distance. The world famous Patara Beach and archaeological site are 20mins. drive away. Close to Patara are the ruins of the hilltop city of Xanthos. Saklikent Gorge is about 1 hour away by car. A little over an hour are Myra and Kekova.

Further Details:

Kalkan and its environs provide an ideal location for the most perfect holiday as it provides a great base to explore the surrounding area with excellent activities and amenities on offer in the town itself.

Taking a short trip up into the mountains behind Kalkan and you will find the traditional village of Bezirgan against the backdrop of mountain peaks ; this flat plain is home to where people still live off the land. The Kalkan region is sitting on the ground of ancient Lycia and a whole host of ancient Lycian sites can be reached within the hour. The most famous of the ancient sites is Ephesus ; this is about 4 hours drive away and can be combined with an overnight stay.

Kalkan itself is a maze of cobbled streets winding their way down to the port where small fishing boats bob gently side by side with luxury yachts.

Traditional Turkish/Greek houses decked with bougainvillia cascading from the balconies help create a very picturesque place and a mix of city Turks that have settled in Kalkan amidst the local people creating a most unique atmosphere. For the holiday makerits all about relaxing by the pool or heading off to one of the many sights and activities in the area or just enjoying the beautiful waters of Kalkan Bay. For the more active ; a whole range of watersports are on offer. Blue Marlin Watersports based in the harbour offer : waterskiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, dinghy sailing, banana and ringo rides.

By night Kalkan transforms into a hub-bub of relaxing sophistication. A choice of many restaurants with superb dining are a major attraction and great pleasure. Lots of welcoming restaurants are waiting to serve a whole range of Turkish and International cuisine.

Later in the evening a stroll around the cobbled streets down to the harbour browsing in the boutiques or a nightcap in one of the bars is a popular and delightful way to end the day.
