With the beach, local independent shops and award winning pubs and restaurants all within 10 minutes walk, The Old Cornstore is a perfectly located 2 bedroom cottage situated in the beautiful village of St Agnes. Steeped in history, the cottage was renovated and newly furnished in 2013 to provide a clean, modern and comfortable home. It comprises of a well equipped kitchen with underfloor heating, a cosy lounge, 1 double bedroom & 1 twin bedroom, 2 modern bathrooms and a large garage ideal for storing bikes, surfboards and muddy walking boots. Also available is free WIFI, Bluetooth speaker with ipod connectivity, 32" flat screen TV, Smart Blu-ray & DVD player & internet radio. Parking is available opposite the cottage or very close by.

About Elizabeth Driscoll

We live in Surrey with our two children and have been visiting our parents holiday home in Cornwall for the past ten years. When they sold their property we decided that we loved Cornwall so much that we would take the plunge and buy our own place. Having spent time in St Agnes previously and because of the great beach and vibrant village community, we knew that this was where we wanted our second home to be.

Why Elizabeth Driscoll chose Cornwall

It's so easy to get to St Agnes - just a ten minute drive from the A30 and no tiny lanes or tractors or car sickness to contend with! Once we are here, the convenience of being able to walk to the beach and local amenities, give us the option of parking the car when we arrive and not using it again until it's time to head home. When we do venture further afield, we love to walk along the miles of coastal paths or visit the beaches at Chapel Porth and Perranporth. We are also fond of the South Coast of Cornwall and are fortunate to be less than an hours drive away from lovely coastal villages such as St Mawes and Portscatho.

What makes this cottage unique

Of course, we love our house as much as we love the location. It has everything we need for a relaxing time away - a well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge, comfy beds and a big garage for storing bikes, body boards, buckets and spades and walking boots. For us, this means that packing to come here is just a case of throwing a few things in a bag and hitting the road.

We love it and we hope that you will enjoy sharing it with us.

  • The cottage sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the 1st floor & sleeps 2 in king size bed. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers & full length mirror. The 2nd bedroom is on the 2nd floor & sleeps 2 in 2 full size single beds (suitable for adults) & has a chest of drawers and mirror. There is also space to comfortably fit a travel cot in this room. All beds have anti-allergy bedding.

The cottage is located on a lane at the bottom of the village with parking available directly opposite or within a 2 minute walk. Whilst we do not have a garden, we are only a 10 minute walk from the beach - all you need to do is pick up the portable BBQ and some cold drinks and make your way down there. Failing that we are just a 2 minute walk from a great pub/restaurant with lovely outside space, superb food and a great atmosphere. Clean linen & towels are provided. Beach towels are not provided and we would be grateful if you would bring your own.

A perfect holiday

We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It was so comfortable and provided everything we needed. The position was perfect for the beach and for all the walks we enjoyed. There was such thoughtful attention to detail within the cottage and lots of information on what to do in the village and beyond. Thank you so much and we definitely hope to return one day.

The cottage was everything and more than the description. Lovely owners who want to you to have a great stay with loads of information provided. Fantastic cottage in a fantastic location

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Cornstore. The cottage is in a fantastic location in St Agnes and is a real home away from home. The kingsize bed was very comfy and we slept really well after lots of cliff top walks. It was an added bonus having a washing machine and dryer. Thank you for a great stay!

Great stay in a lovely cottage

We have just had the most memorable weeks holiday in St Agnes, staying in this lovely cottage. This was ideally situated in a central location for discovering Cornwall. The cottage had every facility needed and was extremely comfortable. Had lovely meals at the Driftwood spa, St Agnes Hotel and great Pizzas from the local takeaway. We visited Lands end, The Minnack theatre, St Micheals Mount, Eden Project, The Camel trail at Padstow and St Ives all great places with lots to do. Would recommend Cornwall and this cottage to anyone. PS. Wifi, a big plus with teenagers 😂

Trevaunance Cove
Car: recommended

Trevaunance Cove is a 10 minute walk from the cottage (15 minutes on the way back as the road slopes gently upwards!) and is home to a bistro, pub, fish and chip shop & craft gallery. The Cove is renowned for its sandy beach, rock pools and surfing and provides access to the SW Coast Path. St Agnes is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has a rich mining history and is a thriving and bustling community. The village itself boasts several pubs & restaurants (3 of which are an easy 2 min walk from our cottage), the award winning Cornish Pizza Company and 2 fish & chip shops. There are many independently owned shops including a bakery, butcher, grocer, coffee shop and newsagent, as well as a post office and 2 convenience stores.

There are lots of activities available locally. The local surf school is located right on the beach at Trevaunance Cove. Perranporth also has a surf school and it's wide sandy beach & excellent waves make it perfect for beginners and experienced surfers alike. The South West Coast Path is right on the doorstep where you will find miles and miles of glorious coast line leading to mining heritage sites and hidden beaches and providing spectacular views out to sea. We are also only a few miles from the coast to coast cycle trail which is suitable for all levels of cyclists. The trail runs for 11 miles from Portreath to Devoran & follows purpose built cycle paths and quiet country lanes. For the keener cyclist, there are many more challenging routes nearby.

There are an abundance of other activities available nearby including horse riding, coasteering and kayaking. There is also a superb indoor skate board park in nearby Mount Hawke.

A car is beneficial to explore wider areas of Cornwall but is not essential as all amenities are within walking distance and there are good bus services to Truro and Perranporth. The huge sandy beach at Perranporth & the gorgeous NT beach at Chapel Porth are less than a 10 minute drive along the coast and further afield are the popular seaside resorts of Newquay and St Ives. By car, St Agnes is 10 minutes from the A30, 40 minutes from Newquay Airport and 20 minutes from Truro train station. Keen walkers & cyclists will find plenty of areas to explore without the use of a car.

Refundable Damage Deposit £200

A 30% deposit, along with a signed Booking Form are required to secure reservation. Payment of the balance and a security deposit of £200 is due 6 weeks before arrival or in full if your reservation is made within 6 weeks of the arrival date. Your security deposit will be refunded within 14 days of departure if no loss or damage to the property has occurred. Our prices are for 7 night stays and include all linen, bathroom towels and electricity.

Changeover day is Saturday during peak holiday season. During peak holiday season we can only take bookings for a minimum of 7 nights. Outside of peak season we are flexible with changeover days and short breaks can also be accommodated. Please contact us with your short break requirements.
