Great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house, great location. It was cold when we were there but the open fires kept the house warm. Bring a bird book as the bay is within sight :-)

Brilliant holiday

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was everything we could have hoped for - very high spec and it was like someone had been and thought about everything you don't normally get with a cottage rental and decided to make sure it was there. So not only did we have open fires but we also had logs and coal to make those a reality. A homemade cake and fresh flowers on arrival - what more could we have wished for? The cottage is also ideally situated for exploring this truly beautiful part of the country. We have no hesitation in recommending this one - we're still raving about it to all and sundry!

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Millhouse Cottage in December. The cottage is warm, welcoming and beautifully furnished - everything we needed. It really felt like a home from home. The open fireplace in the living room was a treat in the evenings; the TV wasn't used once! The beds were so comfy. The view over Budle Bay was just gorgeous and, as keen birdwatchers, we can certainly recommend the location. There are lots of lovely places to explore in the close vicinity and the beaches were stunning - even in the middle of winter! We certainly hope to return and have no hesitation in recommending the cottage.

Lovely cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

Millhouse Cottage was the perfect base for our recent holiday in Northumberland. Excellent location for visiting Bamburgh, Holy Island and the surrounding area. We have stayed in many cottages during our 20 years of self catering! But this is on of the best we have stayed in. Very clean, extremely well equipped, comfortable, spacious and a lot of time and effort has gone in to ensuring all needs are catered for.

A delicious home made cake and beautiful flowers greeted us on our arrival. The view over Budle Bay is breathtaking on a summers evening and as keen bird watchers, we couldn't have asked for better, it was the ideal location where we spent many hours relaxing and enjoying the wildlife.

Thank you for making our stay in Northumberland so special, it was very much appreciated and we can't wait to return

Waren Mill is a small hamlet situated on the coastal route to Bamburgh which is 2.5 miles away. Bamburgh has a selection of good restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, a greengrocers (with newspapers), deli and award winning butchers. Bamburgh Castle and the Grace Darling museum should be on your to visit list.

Seahouses (6 miles) has a co-op supermarket, Barclays Bank and several take away food outlets including of course a variety of fish and chip shops. Belford (3 miles) on the other side of the A1 has a newsagents, co-op with cash point, farm shop, newsagent and chemist.

Alnwick Castle, the home of the Duke & Duchess of Northumberland and made famous by the Harry Potter films and the stunning Alnwick Gardens are well worth a visit. The coastal castles are all fabulous to experience - Warkworth, Alnwick, Dunstunburgh, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne (on Holy Island). See the puffins on the Farne Islands in May and June. See where they make kippers at Craster. The Cheviot hills are a 40 minute drive from Waren Mill where there are many beautiful walks up the Langleeford and Breamish valleys from Wooler and Ingram. So much to do in Northumberland and Millhouse Cottage is perfectly situated to see them all!
