About the property

Cottage in Le Rhun Nr. Lannion, Cotes DÁmor, Brittany, France

This farmhouse cottage was built at the turn of the 20th century as a small farm. Set in three quarters of an acre of lawned garden in the heart of the Brittany countryside it offers a peaceful and restful holiday but still within easy reach of the Pink Granite coastline with it's wonderful granite rock formations, spectacular cliff walks and beautiful beaches, together with many sporting activities and adventure parks catering for all ages groups. The nearest village is Plouaret where you will find two small supermarkets, butcher, 2 boulangeries, 2 good bar restaurants (daytime eating) a pharmacy and 2 banks. The picturesque town of Lannion, is about a 10 minute drive away and set on the banks of the river, with its cobbled streets and many little shops and restaurants.

STEPHANIE SALLOWS purchased this cottage in 1991

Why STEPHANIE SALLOWS chose Lannion area

We originally bought our cottage as a holiday home for both our family use and other guests. We chose this lovely area after spending many years running our charter boat business operating out of the Channel Islands bringing people to this beautiful coastline for sailing holidays. Now, after various building renovations over the years and retirement, we spend more time enjoying Brittany and its quieter way of life.

'We have had a great week...Tregastel is lovely our two boys really enjoyed climbing on the rocks. Best ever ice cream (x 3 times) in Ploumanach. Lots of lovely beaches. Boys enjoyed climbing in the trees at Vivont Perdes...We also went to the Adventure Park in Begard which the boys really enjoyed. The accommodation has been great and sitting in the garden, lovely and peaceful here..' 20/7/13

Delights of the Pink Granite Coast

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was fantastic with such a lovely sitting room and patio area.

We enjoyed the isolation from other properties and the views across the fields.

Although this was not a major drawback, it would have been nice to have a freezer in the kitchen.

The cottage was spotless and a delight to spend two weeks there.

Stephanie and Barry were great hosts and we enjoyed their company, especially on one evening when they invited us for drinks.

We would thoroughly recommend the property to anyone.

Our favorite coastal place was Ploumanach, although we also enjoyed our visits to Tregastel and Le Yaudet.

Beautiful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Having visited the beautiful Granite Coast many years ago we decided to come back and wanted a cottage in a quiet retreat with facilities for a family with a small child and grandparents. The Gite was exactly that. Barry and Stephanie were there to greet us on arrival and showed us around the house. They were friendly and helpful hosts who were available for help and advice if needed.

The local beach at St Michel en Greve was excellent for small children with swings and good sand. The amazing rocks at Tregastel are one of the reasons why we wanted to return to this coast and they were just as good as we remembered. Ile Grande is also well worth a visit with a 2/3 hour lovely coastal circuit walk around it. The quiet country lanes around the house are great to explore. We can definitely recommend a visit to Convenant Morvan.

Owner's Response: Thank you Malcolm and Rachel for your kind words on your stay at Convenant Morvan. It was nice to see a three generation family enjoying their holiday and that all age groups were well catered for.

Relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

The description of the Gite was totally accurate. It was situated in a peaceful rural area, surrounded by farmland, within easy reach of many beautiful beaches. The interior of the house was spacious ,well furnished and very comfortable with all the expected facilities. The property was clean and well maintained, both inside and outside, the lawned area being mowed regularly. The owners could not have been more helpful, they respected our privacy but were happy to advise and assist when needed. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. We enjoyed walking ,swimming ,exploring amazing beaches and just relaxing. The garden area with comfortable sun loungers was perfect for lazy afternoons reading in the sunshine. We tended to eat out at lunchtime, much better value than evenings, and cannot recommend the local restaurant in Plouaret too highly, St Barbe food was delicious with wine and water included in a 5 course menu for 12 euros! All in all a delightful holiday.

Notes on accommodation: ACCOMMODATION: Downstairs: consists of a large beamed lounge with wood burning stove, French windows leading out to the patio and private guest's garden at the back of the house. In the country style wooden kitchen, also with a wood burning stove, there is a gas hob with a double electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, and a well equipped 'kitchen drawer'. There is a downstairs bathroom with bath/hand shower, basin and separate WC. Upstairs consists of three bedrooms, two doubles (one King-sized ) and a twin. All beds have douvets and English feather pillows. There is a house bathroom with Shower, wash basin and wc. For the off season months the house does have central heating for which there is an additional charge. Outside: The garden to the back of the property is accessible through the French windows leading from the lounge to the patio area where there is all the usual garden furniture of table, chairs, sun beds, barbecue and outdoor table tennis. The garden is completely private and looks out onto the surrounding fields. The cottage is set well back from the road and faces out onto a large graveled courtyard and entrance to the property, and barn which runs along the roadside. The cottage is situated on a quiet country lane with very little traffic except for the odd car and tractor and many guests enjoy walking or cycling around the lanes in the surrounding area or for the more energetic a walk into the village, about 3/4 hr. Utility Room: At the back of the house there is a small room that houses a washing machine and a large drying airer for drying clothes on those not so bright days, plus an extra fridge. Garden furniture is also kept here when not in use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen : Linen and towels are not included but can be supplied on request. We do ask our guests to leave the house clean and tidy but it is thoroughly checked throughout before our next guests arrive. A full final cleaning service can be arranged on request.
