Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time at this cottage.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't that good so we didn't get the chance to enjoy the garden.

Great area for walking !

A great weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

Stable Cottage is a real delight! The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and had everything we needed. We arrived Friday evening and luckily, the weather was nice enough for us to sit out in the beautifully landscaped garden. There was no need to use the car as there were plenty of walks from the doorstep (with Monsall Head just a 10 minute walk away).

The owners were very accommodating when we needed to change our plans and take both dogs instead of one, the garden is fully enclosed so safe to let the dogs out on their own.

The cottage is situated just outside Ashford in the Water which is a lovely village and worth a visit. Would also recommend eating at The Packhorse Inn at Little Longstone, superb menu and great service.

Would highly recommend and hope to return in the near future.

Immaculate and comfortable property ,everything we hoped it would be well located will return

  • 5 of 5

On the edge of the beautiful village of Ashton on the Water and less than 3/4 mile from Monsal Head the property is perfect for a walking trip. The house itself was stunning clean and well equipped. A really well converted stable. The house file pointed us to some beautiful walk and George thanks for sending us to The Manners in Bakewell great lunch.

Home from home but not far from home.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a weekend here at the end of January and it was lovely. A bit difficult to find on the dark drizzling Friday night but the instructions helped.

The cottage is lovely and warm, with underfloor heating downstairs. We weren't too sure how to change the temperature as the room stats seemed to programmed. It's all superbly fitted out as though it's was someone's own home.

The entrance hall has coat hanging space and space for kicking off shoes so that they are out of the way, the sitting room is snug especially when we lit the wood burning stove. Nice dining area that leads off to downstairs we/shower room that is really well finished.

The kitchen is all bespoke oak with everything you need. We had a few issues with the oven and it would have been easier if a full set of instructions were on hand. The only issue we had was burning ourselves on the oven as there were no oven gloves provided, we resorted to using the gloves provided for the wood burner.

It's a great location for walks from the door and if it was drier/less muddy it would be easy to get to the pub rather than walking along the road which can be busy at night.

We loved our stay and will hopefully be back at some point this year.

Stable Cottage, Ashton in the Water

  • 5 of 5

Great for a break. Comfortable, friendly attention from our hosts - and Monty the dog.On a farm in the countryside yet easily accessible to Bakewell, numerous lovely walks, and many flatish bike rides. We were bowled over by the autumn beauty of the Peak District, and staying here made the week even more memorable. We hope to have the chance to return before too long.
