Stable Cottage, Ashton in the Water

Great for a break. Comfortable, friendly attention from our hosts - and Monty the dog.On a farm in the countryside yet easily accessible to Bakewell, numerous lovely walks, and many flatish bike rides. We were bowled over by the autumn beauty of the Peak District, and staying here made the week even more memorable. We hope to have the chance to return before too long.

Fabulous cottage in a great location

Four of us stayed at Stable Cottage for the October half term week. The cottage itself is finished to a very high standard with some lovely woodwork throughout adding to the charm. There was plenty of room for the four of us and the warm and cosy cottage was very well equipped with everything you could want; lovely to find great showers in both bathrooms too! The cottage is ideally situated with easy access to the lovely village of Ashford in the Water and larger local towns like Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock. We found several excellent places to eat and drink nearby and if you like walking you couldn't wish for a better place to stay; there are some fantastically scenic walks right on the doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and will definitely be looking to go back in the not too distant future. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay at Stable Cottage - Ann and George are friendly & helped make our stay special

The cottage is both well equipped and quirky. Has everything you need for a lovely stay and the garden is so pretty, we sat outside a lot for meals and relaxing. It's very close to the MonsalTrail and Monsal Head. Some great walks all around and Bakewell only 3 miles away which can be walked along the trail. Great parking. Good buses too. Our dogs loved it. If I have one thing as a downside it is the road outside which is difficult to walk in certain places but this is because of the cars and can't be helped. However, next to the farm gates is a bridle path you can use to avoid the road. Brilliant and the scenery around is wonderful.

Beautiful cottage

We booked Stable cottage for October half-term and had a brilliant time. We've stayed in many self catering cottages in the Peak District over the years, but this one has been the BEST! Very well equipped and very cosy and comfortable. A super comfy sofa too, which often lacks in other places. We will definitely return. Many thanks from the Clayton family :-)

Superb

This was our third visit to The Stable Cottage and we love everything about it. The owners are very welcoming and very helpful .Situated in a very good area to access the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire ,with very good walks and nice pubs ! The cottage is spotless and well equipped and very cozy .We will certainly be returning again next year.

Further Details:

Just outside the village of Ashford in the Water you can start your walking holiday straight form the cottage taking you across the path into Little Longstone and the breathtaking views over Monsal Dale.

Bakewell with its meandering river, weeping willows, and not forgetting the array for ducks and swans is only a 5 minute drive.

Local shops provide an excellent range of provisions, newspapers etc with a fish van visiting the village once a week and you can get your milk straight from the local farm.
