This Ground Floor Apartment boasts spectacular views over the Taw/Torridge Estuary: anyone who loves the Sea will love gazing out of the Windows or Opening the Doors onto the Juliet Balcony and breathing in the sights, sounds and smells of the ever-changing Tidal River.

This Modern, Stylish apartment benefits from a wealth of Natural Light and a Spacious feel. The Oak Laminate flooring, Solid Wood windows and quality Oak doors add to the Simple Elegance. The Double Bedroom is Quiet and Cosy and the Shower Room has an excellent shower!.

The Slipway beside the Apartment leads down to the Water's edge. Boats can be launched for a paddle around the Estuary or a trip to the beaches on the opposite side of the River. I have been managing a 2 bedroom holiday cottage for a local estate for the last 7 years and have now decided to start a holiday property business of my own. My first property is The Deck in Appledore which I love so much, I would actually like to keep it as my second home!

Why Clare Ferriday chose North Devon

The minute I saw The Deck advertised for sale I knew it was the apartment for me! I knew that if I could have my own property let, it would have to be in Irsha St. in Appledore. I find the quaintness and pure charisma of the place irresistible! The appeal of The Deck was it's uncluttered modern design complemented by the incomparable view over the water from the balcony. Not only to watch the ever-changing watery landscape with a glass of wine in my hand, but to listen to the soothing flow of the tides and smell the briny ocean in my own living room. Bliss! Appledore's history and heritage calls from every twisting narrow alley and merchant house along the quay. Fish is still landed here as it has been for centuries. Whether in summer sunshine or winter gales I am always happy here.

What makes this apartment unique

Despite the apparent remoteness of Appledore, it is only a short drive to the bigger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple with all the modern amenities and National Supermarkets etc. From Bideford, you can take a day trip to Lundy Island courtesy of The Oldeburgh Ferry. Appledore has a regular Bus Service if you fancy a break from driving and Taxi Firms abound in the area. A very short walk from The Deck takes you to Churchfield Car Park and from the Slipway here, all manner of Water Activities take place including Fishing Trips and Water Skiing. Appledore runs a Summertime Ferry Service across to Instow on the far shore, thus extending your explorations without getting in the car! The location gives you the Privacy of a Sea Shore Hideaway with a Choice of First Class Restaurants minutes away.

The apartment is situated beautiful on the Appledore estuary. We was amazed at how close we where to the sea, at high tide the waves would calmly come right up to the apartment building.

The apartment was beautiful set out with views over the estuary and a nice secluded bedroom. There was easily enough room for a couple looking to spend a week or 2 away.

The views alone made the apartment perfect for us and was a major plus having such a nice homely feel to the apartment.

We will definitely be booking again later in the year.

Keys to front door of building and to apartment held in key safe beside front door. Key code given after booking. 1 dog is welcome (but not on the furniture or in the bedroom please.) Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Outside: There are no outside areas. Double doors opening onto Juliet balcony are standard height. Utility Room: Small hoover,Broom, Dustpan and Brush, Mop and Bucket, Iron and Ironing Table, Hand Dustbuster, Fan Heater, cleaning products and cloths Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and Linen included, changed once a week. Also Tea Towels, Washing up Liquid and cloths and Laundry Powder/Liquid. Weekly Cleaning. Other: Hallway with Mirror leading to Apartment Door.

Cozy apartment, wonderful location!

We thoroughly enjoyed a few days break at this beautiful apartment in Appledore! The location is superb, and the apartment is spotless! Hearing the sound of the sea as it lapped against the building was very soothing and the view was very special. We hope to return in the Summer when the weather is better!

Brilliant Week

The apartment was everything we expected for ourselves and our 8 year old grandson. The position, setting and views were excellent. We love Appledore and the surrounding area. The unique music scene in the local pubs is fantastic and we were made welcome in all of them. The local bus service is excellent especially if you have bus passes. It has been a good experience from the initial booking and my conversations with Clare the owner through to our eventual departure. We will certainly come back to the apartment and would recommend it to our friends

Perfect 1st Family Holiday

The Deck was the perfect place to stay for our first holiday with our 4 month old daughter. The apartment was just the right size for the 3 of us with plenty of room in the bedroom for the travel cot. Only downside is the bathroom is only really an en suite shower room. We really enjoyed spending the evenings sitting at the table having dinner looking out at the amazing view over the river. We were lucky with the weather and spent our days on the sandy beach at Innstow which is fantastic for children.

Owner's Response: The details of the property displayed on the web site do state, 'en suite shower room' not , 'bathroom'. The shower cubical is a standard size with a standard shower tray and a folding glass door.

Perfect holiday!

We had a wonderful weeks holiday helped by wonderful weather. Apartment was everything we hoped it would be, really clean and well equipped, in an ideal location for all that Appledore has to offer, but what makes the apartment really special is the stunning view over the estuary from the Juliet balcony. The small vase of flowers, from Claire the owner made us feel very welcome and when we had to contact her with a problem with the shower she was round within a couple of hours and then again first thing the next morning with the parts to sort the problem. We will definitely be coming back!

A great week!

The apartment met our expectations,but the view exceeded them. The location is great for walks on the sand and for short drives around the area. We ranged from Hartland Quay (pub and view) to Baggy Point (National Trust tearoom and view) and all points between, including Crow Point and Instow to look across to Appledore.

The contrasting village pubs gave a choice, but The Beaver has the best location - and only 2 mins from the apartment.

The apartment is well appointed and equipped and very suitable for couples looking for a stress free break. Safe and comfortable, bright and clean.

Appartment with Stunning View

A lovely clean comfortable stylish appartment with everything that you could need and a very helpful friendly landlady. Stunning views over to Instow from the living area - the water comes right up to the wall below when the tide is in. Perfect for chilling out with a cuppa or glass of something. The bathroom is tiny but functional and more than compensated for by the views, light and general feel and comfort of the appartment, plus the location on Irsha street. Appledore has a good deli and general store, several pubs and cafes (recommend the coffee cabin close by), galleries etc and bus and ferry to get further (Instow, Bideford, Westward Ho) plus walking right from the door.

I had a really memorable week and definitely aim to come back. Still miss the sound of the water.

Westward Ho! is a safe sandy beach with Lifeguard cover throughout the Summer. Visitors centre with information, Toilets and Large Car Park.

The Beach has Rock pools and good Fishing Marks at the southern rocky shoreline. Excellent for Surfing, Body Boarding, Kite Flying, Wind Surfing and other Water Activities. Shore Fishing and Estuary Fishing. Coastal Path and Cliff walks.


Nearest airport - Exeter

There is a rail connection from Exeter to Barnstaple, but hire car,cab or bus would be required to get to Appledore. Local bus services connect Appledore, Bideford and Barnstaple, and coach services run from Bideford to Exeter.

Car hire is highly recommended for exploring the coastal areas around Appledore and further afield around Devon

Also 2 Fish and Chip shops, Hockins Ice Cream Van - superb Appledore ice cream -Art/Craft shops, Galleries and Maritime Museum. Appledore's large artist community hold Exhibitions and Displays throughout the season. The Beaver and The George in Irsha St. are excellent Restaurant Pubs and The Beaver has regular Live Music performances from Local Musicians. Freshly Caught Fish is available form local fishermen on the Quay. In the Summer, Appledore hosts a South West Rowing Regatta and runs Crabbing Competitions from the Quay. During Autumn, the Appledore Book Festival takes place, the colourful Appledore Carnival parades through the streets accompanied by Appledore Band plus The Beaver organizes Bonfire Night with fireworks on the Beach below the Apartment, so you have a ring-side seat! Appledore Lifeboat Station at the North end of Irsha St. is open to the public in the season and members are happy to tell visitors about their Training and Rescues. Horse Riding is available in the area and for the more adventurous, all sorts of Activities from Canoeing to High Ropes are provided by Skern Lodge on the outskirts of Appledore. Westward Ho! has a Surf School teaching all ages and abilities. Park Rangers from The Burrows centre behind the beach organize children's Events in July/August. 'Summerlands' in Westward Ho! will provide Fishing Tackle, Bait and Advice on the best marks. Further afield there are several beautiful National Trust Properties in Devon (details in the apartment handbook) Cornwall with its Dramatic Coastline and Tiny villages makes a wonderful day Trip. Exeter has a stunning Cathedral and Good Shopping while Plymouth boasts The National Maritime Museum and Plymouth Theatre staging National Productions. The rugged and ever-changing Dartmoor National Park is a must for Walkers, Hikers or just a Picnic on a Tor!
