About the property

Good sized, ideal family holiday home.

This lovely town house is situated in a wonderful position in a no through road. The house is built on two floors with sea views from both floors. There is parking in the vicinity. The outstanding feature of this house is the long balcony on the second floor which runs the length of the house, it is a great place to sit and be amazed at the many views, towards Koroni Castle, the town with its harbour and across the bay to the Taygetos mountains, and the beautiful summer sunsets to the West. A wonderful place to sit and dine and while away the hours.

It is a large house suitable for 5 persons. Once out of the front door it is just a few minutes walk into town with its many restaurants and cafes. If it is a quick dip you want within 2 minutes you can be swimming in the clear blue Mediterranean sea. This is a house suitable for all year living, in the summer life is lived on the balcony and in the winter by the log fire, just reading and relaxing, and is a great house for entertaining.

Every room except the downstairs shower room has views to the sea. Lay in bed and listen to the sound of the sea, large glazed doors open onto the balcony with wonderful views to wake up to....

About Jean (Jina) Moeser

Approaching retirement, we were looking to buy a property abroad in a warmer climate.

Greece was an obvious choice, Mairi having lived and worked in Greece in her youth:Godfree having a background in Classical Greek.

We regularly sailed through the Ionian and Aegean over a period of 20 yrs.

We normally would spend up to 5 months of the year in Greece.

We love to travel and explore this fascinating country with its many ancient sites, waterfalls and stunning scenery.

We enjoy entertaining our friends and eating out in the local area.

We also enjoy music and love to attend the many concerts that they have in Koroni during the music festival in the summer

Why Jean (Jina) Moeser chose Koroni

When we first visited Koroni in 2004 we were very attracted to it. We returned in 2005 and by chance saw a 'For Sale' in the window and completed the purchase in October of that year.

The location is stunning situated as we are close to the Castle, the town with all its amenities, two wonderful bathing beaches all within 10 minutes walking distance.

The town of Koroni is independent of tourism so all times of the year are worth visiting. It has a post office, banks, medical centre, supermarkets and shops and serves the inhabitants of many of the small villages around.

It is an easy town to negotiate, there are also regular buses to Kalamata the nearest city and to the airport which is only 45 kms away.

What makes this house unique

We really enjoy the convenience of the town and all its shops and amenities being just a short walk from the property. Although being so close to the town and two splendid bathing beaches there is also a feeling of openness once in the property as from each window there are superb vistas looking out to sea.

A feature which really sets the property apart, we think, is the large balcony which runs the length of the property, which has amazing views all year round, who could not be enthralled by the sight of the mighty Taygetos mountain range, snow capped in winter, the sight of the ancient Castle of Koroni, the beaches and the harbour, it would be hard to find a better viewpoint.

The property is conveniently located for exploring the local areas, with their many attractions.

We have been to Koroni several times, but we didnt know there was a place as fantastic as this place is.

The views are amazing, the kitchen is well equipped(far away from Greek standards!)

The beds are comfortable and the place is quiet so we slept very well and are really relaxed.

The only bad thing is that our stay didnt last longer and we have to go back to Switzerland where there is snow waiting for us. But we know we'll be back, maybe soon,, what gives comfort to us.

Notes on accommodation: : There is a small back yard with pretty plants and a washing line this is accessed from the living room. There is a wonderful balcony, the whole length of the building, accessed from the upstairs bedroom or from the kitchen. On the balcony there are various chairs and a large table, a wonderful place for dining and admiring the superb all round views of the mountains across the bay, the nearby Koroni Castle, the charming town with its terracotta roofs and the harbour with the many boats bobbing about. Utility Room: washing machine and wardrobe. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are provided. A clean set is left for the guests to use. The property is cleaned before the guests arrive and after they leave. Other: Large balcony with two awnings for shade, the place to be for the amazing views all year round. There is a large wooden table and plenty of chairs. A great place to dine and entertain friends. We can also arrange a transfer from Kalamata airport, price to be arranged

A beautiful house, with gorgeous views and really great location

We stayed as a couple with a 3 year old and it was such an easy holiday. The house is pretty much half way between the beautiful town with all the amenities needed, and the idyllic 2.5km Zaga beach. The town was geared up for tourists without feeling 'touristy'.

The house was well equipped, we really appreciated provision of beach towels, bedding and towels were lovely quality, the kitchen knives were sharp, the non stick pans were truly non stick! The place was spotlessly clean. Downsides, the bathrooms were tiny, and running up and down the tightly spiraled staircase every time I remembered something else I needed in the beach bag, wasn't ideal. But these are very minor things in the larger scheme of holidays, and the absolutely picturesque spot of this place, the views, the location, it really was great value and one to come back to. Highly recommended.

Kind hosts, comfortable house, beautiful sea

Thanks to Nick and Jina for being such great hosts, ferrying us to and from the airport and filling us in on the area. Even making a stop so we could stock up on groceries.The house is as described, very comfortable and functional. The view is fantastic and nothing beats waking up to the dawn over the sea and far mountains. We loved swimming in the beautiful sea, especially near the cliffs at Zaga Beach and sometimes at the beach at the far end of town. We stayed two weeks and became regulars at Kaggalarios fish restaurant and the Break-Time coffee shop. Nice folks, very warm. As we didn't have a car, we were pleased by the well stocked grocery, complete with fresh veg and and very good butcher and deli counter. A visit or two to the castle and the monastery is a must. All in all a lovely laid back holiday. Thank you!

Great vacation in charming house close to the castle of Koroni

We have spent three weeks in August with our 13 year old daughter in this charming house. The description is very loyal. We particularly appreciated the very well equipped kitchen. The place is very calm although it takes only 8 minutes to the center. Korani is very charming (as many Greek cities it has a lot of stairs and narrow streets). The way to the beach walking through the Venetian Castle is fantastic! Make sure you visit the nuns there. Jina and Nick provided us with a lot of great advice on beaches and restaurants that we followed. But the very best was the great view which one can enjoy from the balcony .We definetely recommend staying in this house.

Great location with lovely view to the sea.

Spacious, lovely property in the very authentic town of Koroni. Lovely view! Water everywhere. It's like being on an island. Jina is a fabulous host. Altogether a wonderful week!

Best views in Koroni.

We loved "our" house, it made us very lazy, as we enjoyed sitting on the terrace. We watched the Sun rise, behind the castle wall each morning, and set behind the mountain each night. These are the moments you never get time for at home. Loved the Fishing boats coming and going, even the one with the load Greek Music playing. The steps up and down to the harbour are hard work, but its the price you pay for the uninterrupted views. The Beds & Pillows are comfortable, and a good supply of linen. Kitchen has all you need to cook if you want to. The book selection as other reviewers have stated is massive, but mainly masculine in taste, so you may want your light weight Chic lit Holliday read. it is very comforting to have Jina up the road if anything was to happen. We didn't need to call on her. I would love to say we will be back but we were so disappointed with the food in the local Tavernas, it showed the struggle the locals are having with the austerity measures. not awful, but meat was mostly bones and quite repetitive. It was very hot so the shutters and awnings were great. Thank you for the memories.

Fabulous holiday!

We stayed here for one week with our 3 grown up children. The living room (with sofa bed) and one twin bedded room are downstairs and the master bedroom and kitchen are upstairs (spiral staircase). The house is very comfortable and homely. The balcony is fabulous to sit and enjoy the amazing view - lots of space and seating (the last place we stayed at the balcony was so narrow we sat in a row and felt like we were at the cinema!) Three beaches within walking distance - the nearest two beaches (2 min walk) are stony but good for snorkelling (fantastically clear water) and one beautiful long sandy beach, Zaga (10 min walk). Sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired at Zaga (5 euros for one parasol and 2 beds) but we preferred to walk just a little further along the beach where it was a bit quieter. Good variety of shops in Koroni. Best bakery up the 'Coastguard' road (on left along main street) - cheaper than Rachel's Bakery further up. The castle is definitely worth a visit. One of the lovely things about Koroni is that it is still relatively un-touristy with hardly any British visitors. Mostly Italians on holiday. Loads of fab places to eat. Can recommend Bogris and Resalto (more expensive). Jina and Nick were so helpful and we were delighted to be able to hear Nick playing in his band on a festival night. Hope to return to Koroni next year.

There are three great bathing beaches, one just down from the castle, you can sit on the balcony and watch people swimming in the clear blue sea, this is just a 2-3 minute walk away. Through the town to the far side of the harbour there is also another beach, the sea is very shallow, ideal for children to bathe, this is a 15-20 minute walk away. The largest sandy beach which is home to nesting loggerhead turtles in the summer is 2.5 km long and just a 10 minute walk away from the house.


The nearest airport is Kalamata, it is open from early spring until late October, just 45 kms away, a car is best but there are also buses and taxis from the airport, we also offer to pick people up from the airport.

Then there is Athens airport which is a 3.5 hour drive away, you can hire a car at the airport or there are buses that bring you to Kalamata and then onto Koroni.

If it is just a beach holiday you want then a car is not a necessity but to explore the area more it is recommended.


Distance to Koroni town .5 km, distance to Kalamata with its old district and museums and great sea front and shops is 50 km.

To golf courses 50-60 kms.

Many ancient sites all within a days driving.

Further Details:

The town of Koroni is independent of tourism and therefore worth a visit any time of year, it has all amenities, banks with ATM machines, supermarkets, bakers, fishmongers, hairdressers, car hire, buses, taxis and many tourist shops. Imagine a short walk away to buy freshly baked bread and to watch the local catch coming in and buy fish straight from the boat.

There are several good tavernas mostly along the harbour side all doing local cuisine, there is one very good fish restaurant. There is an abundance of cafes and a one selling a large variety of excellent ice cream.

There is also a private health care clinic and in an emergency there is help 24 hrs at a nearby town, 20 minutes drive away.

Along the large sandy beach called Zaga nearby there is a windsurfing school when you can hire boards and get expert tuition. They also hire out kayaks for the experienced.

The beach of Zaga is protected as it is home to nesting Loggerhead Turtles who return each year to lay their eggs, there is a protection society who monitor the nests, they have a kiosk in town where they sell gifts and give out information.

Down from Koroni castle is the church of Elefstria, this is where the miraculous icon was found after a girl had a dream about it, worth a visit.

In the summer months a musical festival is held in Koroni with concerts for all tastes.

If driving then it is worth a visit to some of the ancient sites, Olympia home of the original games is about a 90 minute drive away, Nestors Palace, just outside of Pylos, approximately 75 kms away. Kalamata with its large seafront, great shops, old historical centre and museums and very good restaurants, 50 kms away.

In the winter months not all the restaurants will be open in town but just out of town there are some very good places to eat which can be recommended to you.

Maybe you are an artist or writer or photographer or maybe you just appreciate nature at its best, then Koroni and surrounding areas are for you.
