Affordable Ski Chalet holiday. Quiet Village in a wood near Pamporovo

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
Fairytale Village In The Middle Of A Wood Near Pamporovo

The best place to stay is one of our 119m2 ski chalet with 2 double size bedrooms and 2 shower rooms surrounded by forest and lots of snow. It is a very popular location with the children who think they have come to Narnia. Have a winter sport holiday or a Multi-Activity holiday in summer. Or relax in our rural retreat with outings to places of scenic or cultural interest. Summer weather is usually reliably sunny and 18-22C. Cheap skiing and snowboarding and excellent snow cover. Ski lift passes are not much more than half the cost of those in Austria! The benefit of staying in a chalet includes a separate room for the kids and a living space for you to chill out in the evening. You also have a kitchen area and all the comforts of home but with an on-site restaurant and bar. There is nothing worse than taking the kids on holiday and being stuck in a hotel room while they are sleeping/lights out early/having to be quiet. Parents are able to chill out by the cosy, wood burning fire.

NB We do not update the availability calendar as there are several chalets available for ski and summer holiday rentals in Pamporovo Village, Bulgaria.

Location

From the Owner

I fell in love with the fairy-tale setting of the chalet village. Ski Chalets at Pamporovo Village are set in the middle of the pine forest and it really seems like Narnia. The ski resort of Pamporovo is very pretty - more Canadian than Alpine in nature and the snow on the pine trees is just like a Christmas Card. It is an excellent place to learn with Instructors who speak good English. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to any other country. Ski lift passes are only just over half the cost of those in Austria! This chalet is 121 sq metres. In summer it is a mountain villa with pool. Rural retreat or active. Most people hire a car but there is a shuttle service to the slopes. We have a new sauna and massage treatments may be booked.

Wildlife

The Rhodopes are a haven for bird watchers, and contain over 200 species - many of which are rare. You may see Golden Eagle, or dippers and kingfishers by streams. The highland lakes are really beautiful blue. There are lush meadows home to an abundance of wild flowers - many are not found anywhere else on Earth. According to legend the flower Silivriak with its pink petals (spring) bloomed out of the blood of Orpheus after he was dismembered. Silivriak (heberlea rhodopaensis) is the symbol of the Rhodopes. The region is famous for mushrooms and herbs. The Rhodopes are one of the few mountain ranges in Euirope where Brown Bear and wolves still live. There are guided walks on the wildlife, birds and the rare plants and flowers and lovely walks and excursions into the Rhodopi mountains. The ski lifts run in summer.

Pamporovo is the southern most ski resort in Europe and the sunniest mountain resort in Bulgaria. Summer temperatures range from May 10C -20C with similar temperatures at the start of October. This is the time for hunting wild boar - excursions can be arranged. The autumn leaves are spectacular (New England Fall but in Europe)July and August can reach an average high of 24c and low rainfall July through September (about 30mm during each of these months, August being driest).

Visit the "emerald eyes" of the Rhodope mountain area - the Smolyan Lakes. The deepest and most beautiful of the seven lakes is Muddy Lake. Devin Spa is famous and you could treat yourself!

2 Centre holidays - relax on the beach after an activity holiday in the mountains

We are not far from the Greek Aegean coast. There is a new road through the mountains (via Zlatograd) to

Xanthi which will reduce the journey time to just 90 minutes. You can reach Chalkidiki in 3 hours. You could rent a place there for a few days. Most of all we recommend psl-bg for both car hire and cross border airport transfers.

  • Ski and Summer Chalets Pamporovo Outside: Pamporovo Although it is primarily a winter resort Pamporovo is also pleasant to visit off season, the picturesque surrounding mountains with peaks of up to 2000 metres (6550 ft) make for ideal hiking and mountain biking in the summer. Sunshine is generally reliable at 20-23C. So you can have a holiday break in a rural retreat or an Activity Holiday. Pamporovo Mountain Bike Park opened 30 June 2012. Looking for a cheaper alternative to the Alps?? Ever thought of Bulgaria?? Why would we suggest this?? One area, price of food and drink, but it goes beyond this. Accommodation, uplift, travel, in fact everything. Trails that are deserted, unmolested and raw, fantastic weather, friendly local riders, a number of other activities, paragliding, wake boarding, atv's, horse riding etc all at a fraction of what you would pay in the Alps. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included but this is a self catering chalet and they are not changed on a daily basis. The maid service/cleaning is weekly but ad hoc can be arranged (extra charge). Initial Logs are complimentary but then extra charge. Ski Shuttle. Other: Ski chalet is FOR SALE Contact the owner via this website. Sale will not affect further rental bookings. Plans to link Pamprovo with Mechi Chai, the nearby ski resort at Chepelare. For those wanting to ski on longer red runs this will be a great bonus.
