About the Owner

We are a young, happy, healthy couple from the UK. After years of soul searching and globe-trotting we have settled in the beautiful Languedoc-Rousillon region of South East France. With a wealth of hospitality experiences from various industries between us, notably as an established luxury yacht charter couple, we provide elegantly casual service to a high standard. In addition to her abilities as an experienced charter chef, Andrea is a qualified Aromatherapist and masseuse able to provide a number of treatments from the spa in the annex to the house. Mark has a drive for the out door life, and we aim to provide, or at the very least point you in the right direction when it comes to all the local activities from mountain biking to kite surfing and much more...

Beautiful property in a relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with family and friends with young children, there was plenty of space to accommodate each family, with mostly onsuite bathrooms and enough room downstairs to comfortably accommodate everyone incl play room and numerous lounging and

dining spaces etc

It has stunning views from the terrace that most of our days were spent eating enjoying the view and cooling down in the pool. There was plenty to keep the kids entertained and I'm going to miss my morning walk around the lake.

Perfect Retreat Location

  • 5 of 5

We chose to host our Detox and Yoga Retreat at Maison Tranquil and it was the perfect place in every way. The house is in a beautiful location in the stunning French countryside and the property itself is comfortable and full of character with a lovely brand new swimming pool. The house and gardens have beautiful lake views and there is plenty of space to relax and sunbathe. On chillier evenings we enjoyed real log fires which was a real treat. Andrea and Mark were great hosts and catered for the retreat exactly as we had requested and with great attention to detail. The property is within easy reach of places to visit such as the medieval town of Mirepoix, Limoux and historic Carcassonne. Very highly recommended!

great holiday

  • 5 of 5

We (a group of eight old friends) had a great holiday in this wonderfully quirky house. It's very spacious, very quiet (hence the name) but within driving distance of some stunning sites. We asked the owner to cook dinner for us on three evenings and thoroughly enjoyed his culinary expertise. One of the neighbours sells delicious organic veg and there's a marvellous butcher's in Belvèze.

House in Brezilhac

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family of six with five extra friends, all university age. The location was very accessible, only 20-25 minutes from Carcassonne airport, and the Ryanair flights from Stansted were, surprisingly, at very civilised times in the middle of the day. Friends arriving at Toulouse airport easily got trains to Bram, which was only 15 minutes drive. The house’s facilities were as described, with a well equipped large kitchen, 5 bedrooms of varying sizes and 3 bathrooms. It was clean, airy and light, and everything worked well.

The pool was a great asset, and we liked the lightly salted water. We made use of the 5 bicycles to explore the beautiful countryside. Brezilhac is a tiny village with no shops but Montreal is very accessible with a good supermarket. Mark and Andrea were incredibly helpful. Before the holiday they sent comprehensive information and we were particularly pleased that we could send a shopping list and everything was there when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. During the holiday it was very easy to approach Mark and Andrea and they responded very promptly to all our queries, including how to turn off the pool alarm! We were thrilled with the 2 dinners which Andrea cooked for us. We enjoyed meeting Mark and Andrea’s two delightful young children.

We visited the beautiful medieval town of Carcassonne, Mirepoix with its charming market, Toulouse with its wonderful churches and square and even ventured as far as the spectacular Cathar castle at Peyrepertuse. We did a lovely circular walk to Gramazie and several bike rides. The countryside is stunning, with its sunflowers, vineyards and fabulous views.

We would certainly recommend this house to friends and relatives.

Truly Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

A much needed short break with in laws and our young family - have to say the pics don't do the size of the house or its views justice - we had ample space and things available for an easy and enjoyable stay. The house is well equipped and comfortable and within easy reach of all the places the area has to offer. Many thanks for a great stay...hope to return one day.

Peaceful and tranquil

  • 4 of 5

Big thank you to mark and andrea for making us feel so welcome at maison tranquil.

The setting is so peaceful and away from it all, just what we all needed. ITs never completely peaceful with 4 adults and 5 children but plenty of inside and outside space to enjoy.

Weather was mixed but lots of local attractions to visit, including local lake in carcassone ( fab total wipe out type water park) and obviously the amazing walled city in carcassone.

Hope to go back one day, thank you again

Location

From the Owner

The house just leapt out at us as a haven or tranquillity and calm from the first instant we walked in. Stunning lake views, surrounded by radiant countryside you can't but help relax in the house and grounds. We absolutely love the area. For us Carcassonne airport is both close by and very easy to use, has that 'rustic' island style to it! We are just an hour from skiing in the mountains or kite surfing the beautiful beaches on the coast. We regularly visit daily local markets for fresh fruit and vegetables, or just to soak up the atmosphere over a coffee. Truly loving our life choice in this beautiful region of France.
