Autmn House Hunting Break

  • 5 of 5

Four people shared this delightful Gite in a quiet location in the heart of the Limousin countryside. The Gite is clean, has two good sized bedrooms and bathroom with shower/bath. Everything needed to self cater is here with a fully equipped kitchen. We left early most days and did not return until quite late but it was a great place to come home to and relax after a long day. We were really pleased with the accommodation and would definitely return if we were in the area. Clean, comfortable and very relaxing. The hosts were also very friendly and made us feel right at home. Thank you.

The perfect hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Gary and Lis for letting us stay in your gite last week. This is a perfect quiet place, with a large downstairs living space and upstairs, comfortable beds and the most exquisite bath and shower. Great for a small family, it has a double and a twin bedroom. We even watched Bake-off on the Uk free-sat TV. The rear of the property is perfect for catching the summer afternoon sun and we spent each alternate day doing nothing but wine and kindles. The surrounding countryside is really lovely and the local town of Arnac-Pompadour is worth a stroll (cafes, castle and supermarket). We only had six days here but it is a perfect base for jumping off to the Dordogne valley, and the beaux villages of the Limousin. All in all, highly recommend the Gite and would definitely think about returning if we ever end up in SW France again. Many thanks

Clean, uncluttered gite. Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from France where, for part of our trip, we stayed in this gite. It had everything we needed and wasn't at all cluttered with lots of unnecessary items. It was spotlessly clean and really well laid out. We particulary liked the choice of seating areas outside. The garden round the back of the gite is perfectly private, and so peaceful. We also used the large side garden for a few ball games. Gary and Lis were very friendly and on hand in the background should we have needed anything. Thank you for letting us stay (and also for organising the few days of heat and sunshine for us!). The C-B's from Leeds.

A Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a glorious holiday in sunny France.

The accommodation was relaxing and had every convenience you could wish for. Plenty of space outside to laze around in the sun with wonderful views. We can honestly recommend you will not be dissapointed, with the comfortable beds and the well thought out design of the interior of the barn.

Obajat was our favorite place to go,although we had a fantastic meal in the chateau L' Abuerge in Pompadour.

The property was immaculate and Gary and Lis were lovely hosts, most helpful. We would recommend this holiday to our friends and relatives.

So quiet and relaxing somewhere to chill out and see the stars at night.

See you next year Lis and Gary

Location

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

A lake in Objat with Pedalos, numerous lakes and rivers around the area with canoeing available and beach like bathing areas.

Travel:

There are direct flights to Limoges from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Stanstead, Manchester, Nottingham and Southampton.

To Brive from London City and London Stanstead.

Limoges and Brive airports are both an hour away with ferry ports 7 to 8 hours’ drive. Transport is essential.

Distances:

Objat & Arnac-Pompadour are both a 10 minute drive away, Brive-la Gailliard is a 30 minute drive and Limoges is an hours drive away.

Further Details:

During the summer months there is a water park with lazy river and water slides to be enjoyed in Objat where you can take your own poolside picnic. Arnac Pompadour also boasts a pool together with an historic chateau whilst also being a famous equestrian centre. Both towns have a tourist office where you will find details of many other attractions and activities both local and further afield.

The Gouffre De Padirac a cavern that existed in the 3rd century contains a subterranean river system flowing 100 meters below ground that is partly negotiable by boat. This cave system is regarded as "one of the most extraordinary natural phenomena of the Massif Central.” is only an hour and 25 minutes away by car.

Rocamadour in the Dordogne Valley is also a must, just a stones’ throw from The Gouffre.

Collonges la Rouge, one of the most beautiful villages in France with wonderful restaurants, is an hour away and well worth a visit, as is picturesque Perigeaux with narrow winding walkways and open air dining, not to mention Sarlat, Bordeaux and Bergerac.

Vide Greniers, (attic clearance) are a regular event, a French version of a car boot sale. Sometimes stall holders do this for a living and are very aware of what they are selling. Some stall holders are really clearing their attics out and bargains can certainly be found.
