About the property

Beautiful Tuscan House with Private Pool over looking Magnificent Mountain views

Set in the stunning Tuscan hills and located within a charming village this lovingly restored 4 double bedroom house with its own private pool and secluded seating and sun lounger decking space, is packed with original features and will provide the perfect space for you to relax whilst being a perfect base to explore the region. The fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms (one with roll top bath) and comfortable queen size beds will ensure that you have every convenience and comfort while you stay. The layout of the house with two large bedrooms and a dedicated bathroom on each of the upper floors makes this an ideal place to come for 2 couples or families and friends. Outside the swimming pool is completely private with lots of space and sun loungers for relaxing and idling away the warm, beautiful Tuscan days; there is an outside dining table and chairs along with a BBQ and lighting as you sit outside long into the night and share stories, laughter and fun with your friends and family. Watching the sun set each evening is magical, listening to the sound of the crickets and feeling the heat of the days sun cool as night falls.

The villa is ideally located within 10 minutes of the spa town of Bagni di Lucca with its food markets, supermarkets, doctors, pharmacy, jewellery shops, clothes shops and restaurants; and a short and scenic 35 minute drive to the historical and unique Lucca. Within 60 minutes you can explore Pisa and Florence. Or you can take the train. It is an easy drive also to the coast - Portovenere is about 2 hours away and is a beautiful area to explore for a day. There is so much to do, or nothing at all.........

About Maria Kennedy

Young(ish) professional, Irish national living in the UK with my husband Pat. We love cycling, art, culture and good food/wine - Italy is a perfect destination. We bought Casa Kennedy 3 years ago and have renovated and decorated it extensively. We love it more every time we visit.

Maria Kennedy purchased this house in 2013

Why Maria Kennedy chose Lucca Area

The area is mountainous and very beautiful and lends itself to a a lot of different holidays - cycling, trekking, walking, skiing (in winter), Culture (nearby Lucca and Florence, Siena, Modena) or simply relaxing in the absolute peace and quiet listening to nature and the gentle hum of village life. You feel like you are miles from anywhere but it could not be easier to get to Guzzano - one hour from Pisa airport and 3 miles from Bagni di Lucca which has many lovely restaurants, cafes, a theatre, hotels, shops etc.

What makes this house unique

Peaceful village life which is incredibly accessible to Pisa airport and local town of Bagni di Lucca. Very spacious house, can easily accommodate 8. Completely redecorated to a very high standard and has a very private swimming pool with wonderful views of the mountain

A wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Casa Kennedy. The house is beautiful, inside and out. It really is a lovely house. The location is superb too with lovely views of the Tuscan Hills. I could not fault any aspect of the house or the location, not even the steep climb from Bagni di Lucca which you soon get used to. Bagni Di Lucca is a charming little town, just 10 minutes away in the car and of course you have Lucca, Florence, Forte die Marmi etc. My only tip might be too avoid Florence if you are there in August, it is so crowded, but then if you have not been before... I would thoroughly recommend Casa Kennedy. You would not be disappointed.

Fantastic location with wonderful vista

  • 4 of 5

Casa Kennedy is in an idyllic location and provides more than all you need for a get away from it all holiday. The facilities are excellent with all the equipment you need for a great holiday being provided and the local lady who looks after the house was extremely helpful.

It was absolutely wonderful to have the benefit of the pool to cool down in under the Tuscan sun whilst later in the day having the benefit of bedrooms in the house which did not require air conditioning. Just close the shutters, open the windows and a good nights sleep in the every comfortable beds is available despite the outside temperature.

We were also able to enjoy the great restaurants in Bagna Di Lucca, one of which has gone to the top of our all time favourite holiday restaurant list.

Maria was very helpful and responsive during the booking process and provided all the information required in a timely and complete manner.

We really enjoyed our time in Casa Kennedy and would not hesitate to go back.

Stunning, traditional Italian Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Arrived at the villa and was taken aback by the amazing views from the front balcony, just that view would have done me! The whole villa was home from home with regards to the amount if utensils that were to hand with the added bonus of the washing machine and tumble dryer facilities which meant no endless bags of holiday washing! The property was very fresh and clean throughout and I had the best nights sleep over the course of our time there. Every aspect was as described on the website so no hidden surprises. The villa was situated in a lovely village amongst the friendly residents who fortunately for us helped us in our hour of need after a vehicle breakdown. We travelled with 3 grown up boys, the younger 2 aged 17 and 15 spent most of their time in the lovely clean pool all be it a bit cold for me. The staff in Bagni Di Liucca who were dealing with the property were also more than helpful and made us feel very welcome and it was comforting knowing they were a stones throw away because they would seriously help with any disaster and make you feel at ease. Whilst in Tuscany we visited Pisa which was enjoyable as not too far to travel and Florence, both worth a visit. We did however find just a much pleasure visiting Lucca which is much closer. Its like a secret town inside the walls. We also found this the best place to eat, with a wide range of choice for everyone. I would most definately recommend this property to anyone and hopefully we will return one day very soon as didnt want to leave..

A week in Guzzano

  • 5 of 5

Had a brilliant week with friends at this villa situated in a village in the hills above Bagni di Lucca , the villa is very well equipped with everything you could want provided. The local property manager Doreen was very good and most helpful with any information we needed. The local restaurants in the town were very good giving excellent service at what we considered a reasonable price . On the whole very impressed .

Wonderful holiday in Guzzano

  • 5 of 5

Two weeks in Guzzano in August was absolutely lovely. The village is a 5 minute drive up into the hills from Bagni di Lucca. The village is small but has a lively mix of friendly local population and other holiday properties. The view from the living room balcony is beautiful and the house itself has been renovated to a really high standard. We had one family of 4 on the first floor and another of three on the top floor and were extremely comfortable.

Bagni did Lucca itself has some very good restaurants, a really lovely outdoor pool which we spent two full afternoons at on hot days, and river swimming which we enjoyed also. The best ice cream we tasted in the whole fortnight was also in Bagni next to the Ponte Serraglio. Fruiti di Bosco!

The drive to Lucca is about half an hour, and there is a free car park just outside the city walls. The city is beautiful. We hired bikes and rode around the city walls, went to an evening of Puccini and found a wonderful little cake and pastry cafe called Wings Piccolo just outside the circular piazza. It is a 25 km bike ride, mostly along a track on the river, to Pisa. That was lovely, cycling into the city to lunch under the leaning tower.

Having never been to Florence before we booked two nights in a hotel there. It was a two hour train journey, changing at Lucca, from Bagni di Lucca station, which is in the western most part of the town, Fornoli. The trains were excellent, and cheap! 16 euros each return. And we parked at the station in Fornoli for free. Florence, needless to say, is beautiful.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday in a very comfortable home from home. Would love to go back one day as there is lots we'd love to see again and plenty more to explore. Thank you to Maria and Pat , for the really helpful phone chat and email correspondence before we left, and for the chance to stay in your lovely property.

Very spacious, comfortable, loads of character!

  • 5 of 5

We found the house after a long (seemed long but only 10 minutes or so) and winding journey up a mountain - and came to the village of Guzzano - sleepy, hot, peaceful - a perfect antidote for the stresses and noise and busyness of living in the south east of England! The house was lovely - full of character, bags or original features, comfortably furnished - and a great base for sightseeing. We Lucca, Pisa, Viareggio by car - and Florence by train which was so easy. Do take the trouble to visit the helpful lady in the tourist information office in Bagni di Lucca, she was able to to help us with trains and so on. Some great restaurants locally too, where we ordered things which we didn't have a clue what they were (lamentable Italian I'm afraid) but everything was fab. Local people very friendly and helpful.

We had some lovely barbeques in the garden, watching the sun go down over the mountains, listening to crickets and owls.

Maria sent lots of helpful information regarding the area in advance of our stay.

I would definitely recommend this property to anyone - and hope to return some day too! Thank you Maria.
