5 bedroom Villa in St Brice, 4km from Cognac (ideal for the Cognac Blues Festival) , 2km from 18 hole golf course , beach only an hour way

A 5 bedroom contemporary villa sleeping 8-10 persons complete with swimming pool. The property is situated on the edge of the beautiful Charentais village of St Brice and is only a 5 minute walk to the picturesque River Charente where fishing is possible.

The property is in a private position, with a vineyard on one side. The private garden has a large lawn and fruit trees with a terrace for outside dining, barbecues and a 10M x 5M swimming pool. The property has off-road parking for at least 3 vehicles.

The house has a large lounge area which leads onto a large airy kitchen, with the dining area situated off to one side. From the kitchen you can walk onto the terrace leading to the BBQ, outdoor seating area and the swimming pool. Along from the kitchen and dining area you will find two bedrooms and a shower room. The first bedroom has two single beds. The second bedroom has a super king bed and it's own bathroom. From this floor you go down stairs to the remaining three bedrooms. Two contain double beds (one has it's own shower room and toilet). The fifth bedroom has two single beds.

The amenities of the historic towns of Cognac and Jarnac are only a short 5 - 10 minute drive where you will find many of the famous Cognac distilleries. Cognac boasts many charming shops, cafes and restuarants. The larger super stores can easily be found on the outskirts. For those of you that like to venture further afield, the Bordeaux region is within an hours drive as are the nearest beaches.

'Cognac du Golf', the renown golf course is only a mile away. The golf course boasts an 18 hole golf course,designed by Jean Garaïalde, 2 putting greens and one chipping green. A new restaurant opened within the club house at the end of April.

About the Owner

We are a professional couple with 2 children. We both enjoy visiting France and enjoy finding out about and tasting the many different wines, cuisine and cheese!

We also enjoy the outdoors and find that the Charente Maritime climate allows us to enjoy the hot summers as well as the warm springs and autumns. This gives us the opportunity go fishing (Ian and the boys), walking and cycling (along the river Charente) and actually plan BBQ's! We also love the French markets and wine festivals.

We have been visiting the Cognac area for over twenty years and find the area ideally placed to relax and unwind as well as immerse ourselves in the cuisine, wine, scenary and culture. There is always plenty for us to do and discover (particularly the Bordeaux region - we have steadily been building up our knowledge of the wines from this area!) . It's also not too far away from St Malo and Caen so it is in easy driving distance which is another reason why we chose this area to buy a property. We aim to visit 3 - 4 times a year if time permits.

  • Outside: The outside area is large and spacious. There is plenty of room at the front of the house to park 3 cars easily. The front gates can be securely closed. At the back of the house you will find a terrace leading from the kitchen and living room. Here you will find a BBQ area, an outdoor eating area and the 5m by 10m swimming pool which is enclosed by a balstrade wall and two gates (we do provide a pool alarm). There is also a large grassed area. For 2015 we are hoping to have erected a fence plus gates between the side of the house and the boundary wall to separate the front parking space from the back. Utility Room: You will find a washing machine in the garage. There are two airers and a washing line with pegs in the garden. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Please bring beach towels. There is no maid service. However our cleaner can come at the end of the first week to replace the towels and do a quick clean though. There is a 10% discount for not having this facility. Other: Large garage where you will find the washing machine.
