About Rebecca Loseby

"Gite A Charente" is run by the Loseby family - David, Rebecca and their 3 young children.

Much thought has gone into the renovation of the Gite and David and Rebecca hope you will appreciate the house, along with the local area as much as they do.

We hope to welcome you soon!

Rebecca Loseby purchased this house in 2010

Why Rebecca Loseby chose Charente-Maritime

We moved to France in 2011, picking this area due to its natural beauty and ease of access to places like Bordeaux, Cognac and Royan.

It's a great get away from it all location, but with the added advantage of going to town on market days, the beach in summer or even watching music events like the Cognac Blues and Jazz Festival.

What makes this house unique

The Gite and main house share the garden and swimming pool, which for safety reasons is fully enclosed and has an electric cover.

Babysitting can be provided on request at an additional charge and meals can also be catered for, should this be required.

For those looking for some extra curricular activities, we can also arrange for bread making courses and even furniture painting! Subject to availability and must be booked prior to your stay.

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing fortnight at this beautiful gite. It is just as the pictures show it - very tastefully and comfortably furnished and the bathrooms are great! The kitchen is very well equipped with every utensil you could need and plenty of crockery/glassware.

The swimming pool was lovely to have, either to spend an hour cooling off after another hot day or just having fun with the variety of inflatables available for guests. It has its own private terrace with table and chairs and gas barbeque - perfect for al fresco meals.

The gite is in the heart of a sleepy village which has a good boulangerie within walking distance and is about 10 minutes drive from both Jonzac and Pons, both of which have weekly markets and good supermarkets.

It is just as described and more and we felt like at home the moment we arrived.

The owners, Rebecca and David, were very welcoming - even offering us provisions for dinner as we had arrived quite late in the day!

The welcome pack was generous and the gite had thoughtful touches like citronella candles, dishwasher tablets and a selection of books and dvd's covering a range of age groups.

As in the previous review the entertainment system is excellent and the three teenagers appreciated the WiFi!!

This gite has the best of both worlds - it is in the heart of the pretty French countryside which has a different pace to the busy resorts but in less than an hour you can be at the coast so it suited all five of us.

I would not hesitate to recommend this place either for a short break or a holiday - we are hoping to visit again in the not too distant future!

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my partner stayed at this property in September for 1 week. The house is absolutley stunning and has everything that you could possibly need, including it's own private gardens and heated outdoor pool.

It has a 'home from home' feel to the place, very tasefully deocrated with very comfortable furnishings and entertainment system (TV with satellite for UK programmes).

The house is in a gorgeous, quiet location between Jonzac and Pons, both of which are picturesque little towns and only a very short drive or a lovely cycle ride - depending on how fit you feel! For a longer drive (about an hour) you will find yourself on the coast exploring some of the most beautiful scenery in the region.

I can't recommend this place enough; we are planning another trip in the very near future!
