Avalon House is semi-detached Victorian property conveniently situated on the coastal road between Kings-bridge towards and Dartmouth. It commands great views of the estuary, with a well stocked and maintained garden. Avalon House has ample downstairs accommodation with 3 reception rooms with bedrooms on the first floor and 2 attic rooms. Near to sandy beaches, coastal paths, sailing and bird watching. Dartmoor National Park is 30 minutes drive north.

My Name is Suzanne and I share this family holiday home with my brothers. Between us we have children ranging from 1-22 and have spent many family holidays in South Hams managing to keep them entertained! We love everything that the coast and countryside can offer.
Life is hectic for us all and the house allows us to have a 'bolt hole' to retreat and enjoy quality family time. We love to walk and the miles of coastal path close by has always been a great attraction.

Brillant NYE celebrations
A group of 7 of us rented the cottage for NYE and it was perfect. Great location for going out exploring with the car and the facilities were fantastic. It was furnished and stocked to a high standard and the size of the rooms was great. We would definitely visit and rent this cottage again. Great for groups looking to get away and have a fabulous time in a brilliant location. All we wanted and more.
The perfect getaway
me and my friends had the pleasure of staying in this picturesque house. Our weekend was a dream, with Salcombe only a ten minute drive away we were able to visit its hidden beaches, and hire a boat.
A spot of crabbing was just a 2 minute walk from the house.
After all our country life activities, the house's rustic log fire in a cosy front room hits the spot.
A beautiful house with a fantastic dining room table that is great for a group of friends to sit round with a meal and a few bottles of wine. The views were stunning and it would have been easy to jut stnad and stare all day. The house is in a great location to access areas for walking and sightseeing. The pub in the village does a good meal. Overall a great weekend in a fab house that felt like home from home
A Wonderful Home
We visited Avalon House before the children returned to school last September. The house is beautifully decorated, with a warm and homely feel. The house is large and works extremely well, with plenty of space for an army of children! As two families with children we were able to leave them in the lounge watching television whilst we drank wine and chatted in the dining room; a perfect combination in my opinion!
The area is lovely, with lots to do. We took walks in the surrounding area, had BBQs in the garden, enjoyed a boat trip in Salcombe and spent days on the beaches. Although it did rain on a few occasions, it was a pleasant surprise to find a cupboard full of board games under the stairs for the children.
All in all, a property that is well kept, clean and extremely welcoming for children and adults alike. We are very much looking forward to coming back this summer!

“Avalon House is situated on the A379 between Kingsbridge and Slapton. Set back from the road and with parking for 2 cars on the property. We love South Hams and its perfect blend of coastal and countryside activities it has to offer. If you want to walk, cycle, sail, fish or just play on the beaches its all here and very accessible. If you like bird watching there is a a hide just 10 minutes walk from the house giving you access to both the estuary and the Charleton Marshes. Slapton Lay Nature reserve is just 10 minutes drive away. There are footpaths close to the house. Avalon House is situated just a couple of miles from the small market town of Kingsbridge with a good selection of restaurants, small shops, supermarkets and a cinema.”

South West Coast path is accessible at several points all within 25 minutes drive of the house. Slapton Sands (pebble beach)5 miles, Blackpool Sands 7 miles. Sandy Coves also available - East Portelmouth 5mls, North or South Sands 7 miles.

“The house is furnished to be comfortable standard without feeling too 'posh'! As you might expect of a family house its well stocked to keep you entertained on a rainy afternoon! We love the garden and it is perfect for a game of hide and seek with the kids or for the adults to relax and look out over the Salcombe Estury from the Patio. It is important to us that the house feels like a home and provides a retreat from our busy lives. The log burner provides a comfortable retreat after a day of all that South Hams has to offer.”
