What makes this house unique

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a really, really lovely time. We miss the lizards and the total peace and quiet and the strolls down the lane and by the corn fields.

We went to the beach every day and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful region.

We would definitely return one day.

The house is beautifully restored and equipped with everything we needed. The garden was lovely and we enjoyed the pots of geraniums.

We absolutely loved our holiday in your house and thank you so much for your helpfulness and professional but friendly approach.

Notes on accommodation: The house is furnished in sympathy with the style of the house, some older pieces to give character and some newer pieces where we feel this works better. This reflects the approach to the restoration: retain character where possible but use modern conveniences where necessary. Outside: La Lievrerie is surrounded by its own gardens, front, back and side. The garden is fenced off from the surrounding land, which is mainly vineyards and sunflower fields. A lane runs up the side of the house which is very quiet and safe for walking, cycling or for children to play in. We own a large field opposite, which is a great place to explore as there are woods at the far end. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels charged as option £10 per person per week, changed once per week or per fortnight, as required. Cleaning prior to arrival. Please let us know before final payment is made 6 weeks prior to arrival. Other: Dining room with open stone fireplace, wood burning stove, refectory table with room for about 8 guests, dresser - stairs to bedrooms.

This is a lovely house in a beautiful peaceful spot. It is slightly too small for 6-7 adults .

  • 3 of 5

We loved the location of the house , so convenient for exploring the area and so peaceful and quiet. The garden is lovely and we enjoyed the plums and blackberries which were in abundance. It's been renovated well and is charming.

We found that it was too small for 6 adults , especially as it only has one bathroom and toilet. The bathroom needs upgrading.

Our stay was let down by lack of wifi, which we think should be a given for any property , we actually bought a prepaid router and the service was good.

The kitchen is well supplied and the dining room is lovely ; the lounge has character but we feel it could be a lot cosier and practical with a few proper sofas; again as we were 6 adults it wasn't that comfortable.

Bed are excellent !

The owners were friendly and helpful and made our stay has comfortable as it could be.

One further suggestion would be for a tumble dryer -

Lovely house

  • 4 of 5

We had such a great time staying at this house. Lovely garden, rustic feel but with all the mod cons to make a really comfortable stay. The house was clean and well kept and can tell it has been lovingly restored. We definitely recommend and would love to come back.

Robin (owner) was v helpful offering suggestions of restaurants and places to visit nearby - v knowledgeable of the local area.

Beautiful Old Farm House Property

  • 5 of 5

The property is tucked away amongst beautiful countryside farmland and is full of charm and character. We woke up every morning to the sound of birds and absolutely nothing else, making us feel extremely relaxed and removed from all the hustle and bustle of our normal city lives.

The owners have spent years doing the old farm house up, and their love, care and attention to detail is noticed throughout the restored house. The facilities are fantastic, catering for families with a beautiful large dining table, a wood burning stove for if its chilly in the evening and outdoor dining furniture to eat under the stars if its warm (which you can see as its remote from other buildings).

The garden is large, full of lovely flowers and trees, we even managed to pick some fruit from some of the tree's scattered in the garden and near by farmland.

Overall, the owners go out of their way to answer any questions you may have in advance of your stay. They genuinely want you to enjoy their property and stay within St Andre. I would highly recommend.

Little French farmhouse gem

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a lovely holiday in the Charente region. The house is really close to the sea and picturesque little villages, with great places to eat. There was a really useful little book in the house with great suggestions of where to go and what to do, and we took these up, to much pleasure. Will go again. Highly recommend this place.
