About the property

House in Periana, Costa del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Location, 2 Mins Walk From Restaurant, Bar And Pool

A spacious converted inn, on 2 floors, with large partly shaded terrace running the length of the house. We have also created another large chill out terrace a few metres from the house. Nestled against the rock face it has soft comfy furniture, a rock bench, bamboo awning above and of course the great view! Features like animal feeding troughs within house are still evident. Thick stone walls and traditional clay floor tiles reflect a traditional rustic Spanish house. It overlooks Lake Vinuela and surrounding mountainside with sea in the distance. Part of a hamlet called El Canuelo which includes other rentable houses and apartments. Shares with one other rentable house it is the highest point of the village making it a peaceful location but still only 2 mins walk to restaurant, bar and pool used by all renting clients. There is a ping pong table near the bar and grass areas with swing and seesaw for children. There is a spacious dining room which includes a cupboard full of games and puzzles for all to use and a wood burner. The kitchen is large and well equipped with 90cm 5 burner gas cooker/oven,large fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, blender etc. At the other end if the house is a generous sitting room which has sofas, a desk, a wood burner and features the original feeding troughs along one wall. To the right of the house and accessed separately is a laundry room which guests are given a key to. There is one double bedroom on the ground floor, off the dining room and a bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs are the ensuite double bedroom, a small twin and a large twin (which can accommodate another bed if required) and another bathroom. A folding guest bed is available for an extra child/teen if needed. There is also a travel cot on request. Outdoor furniture is provided and there are 2 sun loungers in the laundry room. Towels and bed linen are provided. Please do not use them for the pool or beach. Hope you enjoy staying in Casa Alamos! We appreciate your comments in our Visitors Book and on this website. Peaceful, stunning views, a rustic retreat. Sociability if you want it at the bar/restaurant and poolside. Safe for children to walk around hamlet as mostly off road and very little through traffic.

quiet, out-of-the-way country house

We stayed for five days in early April. The first few days were quite cold and cloudy and we were glad of the generous selection of hot water bottles and wood burner. We really enjoyed our breakfasts out on the porch over-looking the lake and the quiet sounds of the countryside and the distant villages. The house is basic but welcoming. The kitchen is very well-equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses to suit all needs and we really appreciated the welcome pack which included bread and an assortment of cold meats and cheese, as well as milk and wine in the fridge. This was really useful as it's quite a trek back down hill to Periana for the shops. Though we did also find the short cut along the old railway tracks and tunnel to the village of Zafarray on the other side of the mountain where there's a Spar and a bakery in the old station building. Highly recommended for a quick, last minute shopping trip, though the road is pretty hair-raising in parts! We only managed to catch Manolo's bar and restaurant open on the last day of our visit, but we highly recommend it for both the food and the service.

Periana good for medium sized supermarkets, bakery, butcher and greengrocer, bank , post office, restaurants and cafes. Velez Malaga good for large out of town shopping complex, cinema, bowling alley , local shops , restaurants and waterpark. Local mountains offer stunning walking trails
