This is a luxury property, maintained to the highest quality, with every facility and no noisy neighbours - just a few cows and sheep! It is a luxury holiday cottage, fully centrally heated (electric blanket in winter) and set in stunning scenery. Guests are provided with everything needed for a wonderful holiday, plus a generous welcome basket of essentials, wine chocolates, flowers, etc., and dogs are welcome. It has its own bird feeder too.

We live adjacent to the property and are almost always on hand to answer any queries and welcome our guests. We've lived in Edale for 44 years and love it; we want all our guests to experience and enjoy this very special place too.

Tony is a fanatical gardener and visitors love being able to sit in the garden and also wander around the surrounding 9 acres.

A wonderful cottage

We stayed for four nights in this wonderful cottage, breath taking views from every window, the cottage was very comfortable with every thing you needed for a great stay. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay special, the welcome basket and wine was much appreciated after the drive. We will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.

From the Owner

Beautiful area, small primary school for our children (now in their mid forties!) and a little railway with access to Sheffield and Manchester. It's a fabulous village in which to live - a tremendous community and there is still quite a large working farming population. Walks from the door in all directions, river access and views to die for!

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Edale is a walkers' paradise, but there are many local and varied courses which can be accessed.


A car is not essential, as there is a train service from the village to Manchester and Sheffield (and a school bus). To visit the many stately homes in the area, such as Chatsworth House, a car is helpful.


25 miles to Manchester airport (50-60 mins)

40 miles to East Midlands airport (90-120 mins)

Buxton (Opera House and Festival) 25 mins

Bakewell market town 30 mins

Eyam plague village 30mins

Chatsworth, Haddon, Hardwick, Lyme, Bramhall, Gawsworth Halls 30-60mins

Further Details:

There are many, many pubs and restaurants in the Hope Valley area and beyond. A four star hotel just 4 miles away and a high quality butcher (own meat), deli, green grocer, PO and Spar in Hope (next village and just 8 minutes in the car). You can withdraw money (free of charge) from the PO. Castleton (10 mins)has several gift shops, 6 pubs, cafes, parking, info centre and 3 caverns (Blue John). Bakewell (25 mins) has a farmers market and large animal and agricultural market on Mondays.

Extra freezer space in garage, if needed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are included and there are plenty of spares; the property is professionally cleaned between guests' departure and arrival. Other: Hallway from front door, enclosed by glass doors to living area and bedroom area. Dressing room has a drying cupboard, walk-in wardrobe and dressing table, hairdryer and large linen cupboard.
