Special interest holidays:

Bird Watchers: A few minutes drive away along the coast is the famous reserve at Cley. This reserve, run by the Norfolk Naturalists Trust, has birds for all seasons. In winter expect to see massive numbers of Geese – particularly Brent Geese- ; large numbers of ducks as well as Marsh Harriers hunting over the reed beds. It is worth checking the sea off the reserve at this time of the year for Grebes and Divers as well as sea ducks such as Eider, Scoter and Long-tailed Duck. If you are lucky you may see Bearded Tits and Bittern here, as both species are present all year. The shingle bank is also the home to wintering flocks of Snow Bunting which are fed at the coastal car park at Salthouse.

A bit further down the coast is Holkham. In winter the fields either side of Lady Ann’s Road are full of large numbers of geese. These are mainly the more common birds such as Brent, Greylag and Pink footed Geese but each year small numbers of the rarer Barnacle Geese can be seen.


Just a few minutes drive to the Town and Beach. Cromer is a Old Victorian traditional seaside resort, with a lovely promenade and Pier which houses a Theatre and the Life Boat. It Has a lovely sandy beach and is great fun for all ages.


Roughton Train Station is only a few minutes walk away with trains going into and from Norwich City. There is an International Airport in Norwich just 35 minutes drive away.

Cromer is a lovely Victorian seaside town with a long and unique history. Praised for it's 'blue flag' sandy beaches, proudly boasting a thriving pier end theatre and renound for it's speciality crabs the town is well established as the 'Gem of the North Norfolk Coast'.

Cromer is Postcard pretty with cliff-top gardens, splendid 18 hole golf course, a boating lake, promenades, pristine sandy beaches and deliciously sweet crabs to catch and eat.

Cromer and Sheringham have a Carnival each year which has events starting from early August, the carnival is very popular and is usually opened by the Red Arrows display team. Cromer Carnival week is arranged around the 3rd Wednesday of August each year.

New Year's Day also sees a spectacular firework display over the sea.

Sheringham hosts the very popular 1940s weekend every September and is centered around the Steam Railway.

In the centre of the town is a majestic church with a very high tower which is possible to climb at certain times of the day the view is fantastic. Next to the church is the Cromer museum where the history of Cromer can be viewed.

The small streets provide delightful local shops specializing in fresh sea food, a good selection of restaurants and fine fish and chips, art galleries and many individual gift shops. The high street has a good variety of shops and a supermarket is close by ensuring that everything for your stay can be found within easy reach.

Cromer's famous pier still houses a theatre providing all year round entertainment, it's an experience not to be missed. At Christmas a 20 minute drive takes you to the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, the ultimate Christmas musical experience is simply one of the most exciting Christmas Spectacular shows ever. It is the most popular Christmas show of all time in England and is a blend of exciting Christmas entertainment, with Christmas songs, carols, dazzling dancers, beautiful costumes, outstanding music and singing from the last cast.
