Cottage in Corton Denham, Nr. Sherborne, Dorset, England - Charming and comfortable accommodation, close to the amenities of Sherborne

Situated in the heart of the village the Stable Cottage formed part of the old stable complex of Corton Denham House, an attractive and immaculate Georgian property. Dated 1815 and built of mellow brick and hamstone, it is situated amongst other charming old buildings, whilst retaining its own privacy. The accommodation is on one level and is accessed through a private entrance. The cottage sleeps 4, both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, has a spacious entrance hall and a large open plan living area with a wood burning stove. The property has recently undergone complete internal redesign and renovation, and is now a very elegant, spacious and extremely comfortable two bedroom cottage. Corton Denham is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding area and benefits from an award winning pub in village and several others in neighbouring villages. The cottage has lovely views of Corton Hill and the surrounding countryside and opportunities for walking and cycling are plentiful.

About Dr and Mrs Robin Odgers

Robin and Janie and family have lived at Corton Denham House since 2000. Robin is a retired local GP.

They are keen gardeners and have turned the gardens and grounds into a beautiful classic English garden.

The Stable Cottage is their latest project and has been stylishly refurbished to a high standard.

Amazing Cottage in Beautiful Surroundings

Stable Cottage is the most comfortable, clean and beautifully equipped self catering cottage we have stayed in in over 40 years. A real home from home. Robin and Janie, the owners, provide a very warm welcome and are also happy to share their amazing 5 acre garden and arboretum (a real labour of love) with guests. Sherborne is a lovely country town close by and the Abbey and Sherborne Castle are both well worth a visit. Stourhead House and gardens, Montecute House, The Fleet Air Arm Museum and Kingston Lacy are just a few of many places to visit in the area. Work up a thirst by walking up to the top of the ridge to the beacon (amazing views) and drop in to the Queens Arms for a drink on your way back to Stable Cottage. The Kings Arms at Charleton Horethorne is a short drive away and serves excellent reasonably priced food.

Beautiful cottage and great hosts

We recently stayed in the Stable Cottage for three weeks over Easter. The cottage was beautifully furnished and extremely clean. We really enjoyed the log fire - the owners provided kindling, logs and fire lighters so it was really easy. The location is very quiet but within very easy reach of Sherborne which is a lovely country town with a gorgeous old Abbey church. We loved the nearby walks including the more challenging one up to the ridge as well as walking around their glorious garden - especially as it was spring time. Our favourite eateries were the Rose and Crown at Trent and Olivers, a little coffee shop near Waitrose in Sherborne. Robin and Jane were extremely helpful and always took care to ensure we had everything we needed. They even replaced the washing machine when there was a problem - very promptly! If you want peace and quiet, friendly and helpful hosts and a beautiful environment you can't go wrong staying here.

Booking Notes:
The cottage may be taken either as a Weekly Holiday Let or a Short Breaks (minimum 3 days). The property change over is normally on a Saturday.
Booking shall be confirmed on the payment of a deposit of 33% and the balance is payable 3 weeks before the commencement of the holiday.

Any cancellation must be made in writing. If no relet is possible, all monies paid shall be forfeit. If relet is achieved, a refund of all monies shall be paid less a £50 administration charge.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally a Saturday for a booking of a full week. Shorter bookings are acceptable provided they either start or end on the Saturday. For other times contact the owners to discuss availability

A deposit of 33per cent is due on booking with the remainder payable 3 weeks before the booking commences. The payments may be made by cheque or by bank transfers

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
