Great location great people. Superb stay

Had a great time staying at the folly . Welcome pack a lovely touch. Rooms plenty big enough and spotlessly clean. Surrounding area and views are amazing even in the winter . Would highly recommended to anyone and would definitely book again

Fab property,peaceful and relaxing , boys 5 and 6 called it their castle. we met owner wayne a genuinely nice man, made us feel very welcome, would definitely recommend to friends and family 5 stars !!!!!!!!

WoW. Beautifully restored folly

Just what was needed for a stress free break. Nicely secluded but within a 10min drive of Seaham. There is a beautiful walk that takes you through Hawthorn Dene ( managed by English nature ) and leads you to a nice secluded beach. The folly has been beautifully restored to a high standard and Yvonne and Wayne were very helpful and attentive. We will definitely be booking again when in the area and would highly recommend this property.

What an amazing cottage.

We booked on a whim and having never visited C.Durham we were unfamiliar with the area but had a marvellous few days. During the 3 days prior to our visit Wayne and Yvonne were really helpful and answered all our questions positively, especially about taking the dogs. The property was spotless and the welcome hamper was superb. We settled in and then drove to Seaham. On our return we were delighted to meet Wayne who had popped in to make sure everything was as we had hoped. Although the weather was mixed the Folly was not draughty and the heating allowed us to settle in the evening in a warm, comfortable environment. The furniture, especially the bed, was comfortable and in excellent condition.

In the 4 days we visited Beamish, Durham and the Dockyard at Hartlepool; collected sea glass; walked miles with the dogs and met some genuinely hospitable people.

5 stars are not enough.

Great Adventure!

We arrived at the same time as Desmond the Hurricane! and he blew down the power lines. So for a couple of days, we had candles for light, a small stove for cooking and furs for warmth (well duvets actually), and were transported to another century - around the time the tower was built I imagine. The wind was howling but the solid walls kept us safe and warm from invasion. It was such an exciting adventure. Then the lights came on and we were back in the 21st century in a toasty warm brilliantly converted turret with all modern conveniences and amazing views. Yvonne and Wayne could not have been more helpful or attentive throughout our 4 night stay. Thanks again and see you in the New Year for our next stay.

Cosy, welcoming and spectacular

Arrived at this beautifully restored folly in the middle of the night in probably the windiest night of the year, just prior to a snow storm! It was so warm, welcoming and thoughtfully presented that it was a real haven. The tower is compact so ideal for a couple and I imagine, with its sea views and gardens backing onto fields of horses, it's a wonderful place to spend a summer's evening watching the sun set. We were fascinated to watch the rain roll in across the coast unfortunately!

A welcome hamper provided all we needed for breakfast plus a few snacks, the tower was spotless and comfortable - can't recommend it highly enough.

Kinley Tower is located on our family Farm, and has been recently renovated, it is located a five minute walk from Hawthorn Nature Reserve, and easy reach to Dalton Park (shopping outlet) and Metrocentre, Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle.

Hawthorn village is two mile away. Seaham is located 4 miles from the property with Durham, Sunderland, Hartlepool and Newcastle all within easy driving distances.

Further Details:

Although Kinley Tower is located rurally all facilities can be reached within easy driving distances, the town of Seaham has had over the years millions spent improving the dock area and also incorporates shopping facilities inc Byron Place and Dalton Park.

Kinley Tower is close to some of the North East's great shore fishing points and also close by, trout angling is available on ponds at Warden Law. With plenty of walking available, historic towns and cities close by and a local pub that serves home cooked food hopefully you'll find lots to explore in the North East of England
