Cottage in Fowey, Cornwall, England - Quiet Location But Within A Short Walk Are Many Restaurants And Traditional Cornish Pubs

Sideways Cottage is located on a quiet lane known as Bull Hill. The town of Fowey sits along side the River Fowey and is a natural harbour busy with sailing craft and occasionally Cruise liner, Cargo boat or Royal Navy ship. The surrounding land is cared for and owned by the National Trust, the landscape remains stunningly beautiful. Walks abound and the beaches cleaned and tended by the townsfolk are clean and safe. Fowey was home to the famous novelist Daphne Du Maurier. Local attractions include The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock House, Charlestown Georgian Harbour and local towns eg Looe, Polperro, Mevagissey, and our sister town of Polruan across the water within easy reach by car or ferry. Other attractions include Adrenalin Quarry for daring and exciting challenges, featuring the longest "zip wire" in the country as seen on The Gadget Show. Action packed days are held at the all weather 800m circuit at Kart World for speed merchants.

About Andrew & Catherine Pearce

Having been born and bred in the West Country Andrew & Catherine have always had an affinity with the area and fell in love with Fowey 5 years ago. After visiting we made the decision then and there to buy Sideways Cottage which offers the blend of country and town. We are both professionals and love outdoor pursuits as we were brought up in a rural area. We love visiting ourselves especially with our Border Terrier - "Rocky".

Andrew & Catherine Pearce purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Andrew & Catherine Pearce chose Newquay & St Austell area

Fowey is town where town meets country, and where the rolling Cornish hills meet the sea. It has everything at all times of year for couples, families and friends.

Sideways Cottage is a charming historic property well located near the town centre and all the facilities that Fowey has to offer. The cottage has comfortable and characterful facilities and amenities with accommodation on 3 floors.

What makes this cottage unique

In our opinion the location is second to none being just set off the main street on a quiet pedestrian path. All the amenities in the town centre are less than a 5 minute walk away.

Sideways is a very attractive historic cornish property with its double fronted elevation facing the church and sliding sash windows.

Simply comfortable, well equiped and idyllic

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage in a fabulous location. So well equipped and the most comfortable beds ever. Fowey is a darling harbour town of much history and yet, not at all spoilt. This lovely 1800s cottage so near to the main street, the harbour and the main square is well worth a visit. You'll want to come back, I promise.

Beautiful character cottage

  • 5 of 5

Amazing character cottage in beautiful Fowey. This is a lovely cottage and perfect for our family - four adults and two children. We loved the character rooms, it's beautifully decorated. On a practical level we cooked lovely meals in the galley kitchen and made full use of the large dining table. Two sofas provided plenty of space for cozy nights in. There was an ingenious use of space and plenty of ward rode/storage. The location is amazing Fowey is truly lovely, we loved being so close to the little town centre - lovely pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and shops within easy walking distance. The ferry was a delight to explore the other side of the bay and we enjoyed hiring our own boat too. I can't recommend Fowey or this lovely cottage enough - we will definitely be back - thank you for letting us stay in your amazing home.
